That was a good game. Thanks guys. Chief just wanted to point out that normal guardsmen don’t have Krak grenades, only Scions get them. Also you can’t shoot a Dark Apostle if there are Dark Disciples in front of him. They don’t have the Character Keyword they have a rule that’s the same, but it does mean they can screen characters. Thanks!

Thanks for the battle report ! A Baneblade with sponson can fit wholly within 7″ for the Ambush stratagem ? And since the last big faq no part of any model can be set up over the edge of the battlefield.

AS a guard player the most interesting part for me was seeing how effective the infantry squads with plasma are as Tallarn. Really compliment lasguns as range and rapid fire the same, both benefit from advancing into 12″. For 47pts they did great when up close against marines. It also showed the flip side of infantry squads when they were getting simply picked up in squads turns 1 and 2. But thats the thing with guard, lose 30 dudes and still have more to work with!

As a guardplayer i often meet chaos players being salty about vengeance for cadia… until i remind them about deamonforge that does the same thing without an opponent restriction

Chef what made you go with a spearhead instead of dual battalions since you had the units to do so. Was it for a more balanced game?

Great batrep as usual gentlemen! Just curious Beard, since you were running a devastation battery, why not use the Punishing Volley stratagem at the end of Chef’s first movement phase? You could have opened up again with those Havocs and possibly smoked another unit.

1: Please do more shots from the models point of view, like at 47:00 when we see the Typhon from the view of the Sultan! It takes us viewers down from the helicopter and into the battle lines! Love it!

2: Well done Beard, again! He loses a lot of battles, but he keeps going, keeps staying positive, keeps smiling, keeps living for every roll. Impressive!

We for sure need some more Imperial Guard action up on here! Ever since the Colonel has not been on much it takes a while to get some of the brass-balled Guardsmen up and fighting.

Fantastic Bat rep guys and so Cinematic. How many CPs is Vengeance for Cadia? They should nerf it like rotate ion shield and make it at least 3CPs for Super Heavy. The result is absolute insane (but justified given the fluff!)

Great game fellas!! 😁😁
That typhon is too cool, all those attacks and eating guys to regain wounds!
What a beauty!
The rule of cool applies to that tank I think lol

This report really highlighted why, as much as I would always play to win, I would never get involved in ‘competitive’ 40k.
Seeing how pleased Beard was with himself pulling off that ‘behind enemy lines’ and then having it chalked off because we’ve got to stop the game and discuss the wording. With what seems clear to me is a case of rules as written over rules as intended.
Honestly, who’s having fun at that point?

Now THAT was a Tallarn tank fight right there. I know the Tallarn have won before and everyone’s getting to play and learn Tallarn, but I feel like Chef really got the gist of the mobility Tallarn are supposed to have on the field. Would be very interested to see him running a further mechanized list without a Baneblade, maybe with Chimeras and Hellhounds.

Whats with the bruised knuckles there Bbone?
Did lawrence drag you to kickboxing or did you need to teach a cheeky fella, that tau can an indeed WILL charge into close combat if so inclined?

Hey Bone, what happened to your knuckles? have you been involved in a bar fight?

Glad you are back! Nice batrep guys.
Two things: 1. Sergeants of ordinary Infantry Squads do not have krak grenades, only frag grenades.
2. Whats the whole point of the discussion about “priority orders recieved”? It says, that your walord is the only unit able to achieve the bonus tactical objective. The warlord scored “behind enemy lines” properly. It doesnt say that he must be the only one scoring it – you just dont get the d3 tho.

I know you guys try to stay away from uber competitive lists in these shows, but Beard, there’s a real nasty combo out there that you can use with those Havocs: Take two squads all with chain cannons and a simple dreadclaw. Put both of the squads inside, make them mark of slaanesh, and either deepstrike them or leave them on the board in the dreadclaw. It’s up to you based on how much shooting the opponent has, but usually I just deepstrike them. Once they drop down, have a prince next to them to give a squad prescience (not… Read more »

Great to have you back guys, glad Grotty sorted everything out. I may very well be wrong but I don’t think the Bullgryns have the Tallarn keyword, so couldn’t be set up in ambush with that stratagem?

This was great even though it swung against Beard massively, I really like this style of battle and the armies. Not cookie cutter lists. And I hope having a host of the game is gonna be a standard thing, it adds so much imho. 🙂
Also Chef I liked how offensive you used the Tallarn, this feels like how they should be played. Probably my favorite Guard regiment rules.

Biq Diq versus Biqqus Diqqus! Nice.

I think I agree with Chef. Seems to be written as exclusively the warlord can do the objective (even gives the examples of only the warlord holding the objective). That just seems like an anti-fun design.

Man that ruling on priority orders received hurt to watch. I feel like maybe that’s something you tease out in a tactica type game but on a normal batrep? I’d rather just see that go through.

If Beard had those points I wonder if he would have shot the Typhon into the Baneblade the next turn?

Awesome game, and great opening few turns there for Beard! Sad to see RAW kinda throwing a wrench in there with Mission Critical Objective, good on Chef for wanting to play it as a gentleman. On the subject of the Typhon, it’s super cool seeing it just erase units, but for sooo many points it’s hard to figure how one gun can keep up with other stuff in its weight class.

Great game and a classic match up but completely disagree with the ruling on that warlord card. It’s not that the card is open to everyone BUT if the warlord gets it you get points. The card is locked to the warlord. The warlord wouldn’t be claiming the objective if he needed troops to have majority- the troops would be or it’d be a group effort. But if the warlord kills something in melee and another unit kills another unit they are seperate instances. I think there are arguments to be made for the D3 version (or Hold The Line/Advance)… Read more »
