Great Batrep. I’m gona repeat my self again, but the Battle Reports that have a host and two players are always the best ones.

That was a great game chef’s cheeky smiles at the beginning when you could see all the little plans he had was brilliant.
I am always in awe at what a beast abaddon is in every game he is played.

Excited times to be a space marine player in their own miniature 9th edition. Us Chaos players, “WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME!!!!!!”. Sigh.

Hey you gents at @tabletoptactics I had a cool idea!

Since you guys are starting in a new studio, it would be cool if the “power level” of each member started at 9000, but went up every time they stole initiative! Would be interesting to see

It looks like if the Disco Lord had piled properly and consolidated properly, he could have been closer than the Disciples, making them unable to be shot. He might even have been able to tag the other squad after wiping the 3 man.

Chef patiently explaining to Bone and Spider how Bone could with some serious luck come back to force a draw is the epitome of what this channel and good gamesmanship is about. So many players would take the offer to concede that was coming from Bone but Chef is above that nonsense. What a great game. Chaos is so clearly underpowered versus the new Space Marine books that is is mind boggling. Bone got the luck of the gods (aka normal Spider dice rolling) to force a draw. Kudos to all!

Great game gents! I really want to start a salamanders list now! Chef you should have put the fires of battle on the aggressor unit when firing at the oblits with flamecraft! 4+ mortals!

Excellent game, gentlemen, I have enjoyed this one very much. Solid tactical choices there Mr. Bone.

Mr. Chef, you are an STUPENDOUS player, I appreciate greatly the quality you bring to the team and to the games on general. One of your battle reports is like a film directed by Clint Eastwood, a honed mastercrafted art!

Probably important to note that prepared positions only works on units in your deployment zone. 😀

The re-roll of Abaddons charge did throw me a little but after reading your guys explanation I completely get it.

I think if you boys did re-roll dice rolls just to get desired outcomes youd be filming Beards games for weeks at a time 😂

B-Bone getting some serious payoffs for those high-5s. Never thought I’d live to see the day. You could say Lawrence has been involved in some … under-the-table-top tactics….

You guys must have had a Nurgling infestation amongst your digital footage section. You go from Bone’s turn 2 where you’re rolling the Obliterator fleshmetal weapon strength/ap/damage section straight to the endless cacophony where bone is re-doing the roles.

I am assuming that he took out the Primaris squad that was standing to the front of the Salamander Librarian?

I thought Tu’shan was the Salamander Chapter Master? He and Dante teamed up and purged some Orks. Dante then talked him up to everyone and Tu’shan decided he liked Dante for life then.

I mean, I can see that Dante is exceptionally long lived and all that, and likely outlived Tu’shan, but… it’s not like GW cycle out Chapter Master’s that often right? The only other one I can think of was of course the Raven Guard one who got blasted by Shadowsun and possibly the old Iron Father dude in the past Iron Hand supplement.

I admit I’m a little confused how successor chapters work. Can I gain access to a supplement only if I take the “successor of the primarch” trait and choose the trait of the founding chapter?

I miss Lawrence being in a lot of videos, and I especially miss Bone and Spider as a duo. They spent so much time as a pair, they just feed off each over so much……….

Did Abaddon charge twice in the second turn? I swear Bone rolled a 3 and then it cut to him rolling again and getting a 9

What. A. Game. It seemed like I could predict the outcome for a minute there, but then it all flipped. As much as you might enjoy the “ignore -1” trait, I think it might be worth looking at successors with the +3” range. Aggressors with 11” flamers wandering the board and just hosing everything they look at or get charged by could be tasty. As much as Chaos Marines appear lackluster, they seem to make up for it with how terrifying their characters can be compared to loyalists. Daemon Princes, Lords Discordant, Greater Possessed, Abaddon, Chainlords, Chaos Primarchs, and others… Read more »

Lawrence, you mentioned the decimators as a good choice, but the hellforged contemptors are the same points and have an invulnerable save. Could you compare why you would pick one over the other?

That reaction from Bone when there was 60 flamer auto-hits into the Oblits was gold. I’m sure thats how everyones gona react to be honest!

Poor poor Black Legion, Space Marines are very strong now… but hold your heretical heads high fellow followers of Chaos, we will have our day!

Wouldn’t Abaddon take only 1 wound, when the Rhino explodes? Due to Dark Destiny? Then he would have been alive with 1 wound after the Intercessors shot him.

Now I really wish i could make Bray’arth my warlord. With warlord traits could get him to T11 and S10 (so S20 on his melee attacks).

Only at turn 1 so far but I believe Prepared Positions only affects units wholly within deployment zone, so I don’t think the Invictor Warsuits should benefit?
Please correct me if I’m wrong though.

What an epic battle report. When you sit down to play a game of Warhammer, this is the kind of game you hope that you will have. I loved the ups and downs and how many times the game hinged on the roll of the dice (Abbadon’s charge, the Rhino’s explosion, the game continuing…) One thing, though. Linebreaker is scored at the end of the game, not as soon as it’s achieved. I think that Chef counted Linebreaker as one of his victory points in turn 5 or so. I could be mistaken (there was a lot of discussion about… Read more »

Do the war suits get the 6+++ as well? Or is that an aura buff?

Well played everyone! Interesting to see the Salamanders in action.

Everyone’s already noted the power creep and hopefully GW starts cracking out books for everyone so the meta doesn’t become Space Marines vs Space Marines.

A real shame that the Rhino decided to show how Heretical it was by killing his friends 🙁

So here is a powerful combo that stands out to me as insane. 6man squad of flame storm aggressors moving up. 12″ range because you’re a successor chapter+whatever else you want. Move with your 12″ flamers so you have a 17″ threat range. Relentless Determination to act as if they did not move for double shots. Flamecraft for auto max shots, 24 shots per aggressor for 144 shots total. Veterans of the Loyalist War for +1 to wound. Rites of Battle for mortal wounds on unmodified 4+. That’s 12 mortal wounds without Lieutenant rerolls… wounding a Knight on a 4+.… Read more »

Uh at 1h 21m 16s it seemed to go straight from Bone rolling for his obliterator profile for the first round of shooting… then cuts to the end of the shooting phase and endless cacophony being activated.
I guess there was a video section that got deleted/wasn’t filmed correctly?

By my count Abaddon should have taken only 1 damage from the explosion, meaning he would have had 3 wounds at the end of the phase. Otherwise great game but it may have meant Abaddon would have survived a bit longer.

Love your batreps. Keep it up guys!

This edition is getting bogged down by re-rolling everything. What i found fun about 8th in the beginning was the modifiers, it made for Interesting (sometimes broken) gameplay and the re-roll 1s and failed hits never bothered me because of that. This is just boring, and it kind of ignores a lot of the gameplay added by modifiers. As Chef mentioned you might aswell in most cases just auto-hit to save time.

Any way no more mister sad/mad face. Great battle, and you guys are aces.

Hey guys, units outside of the deployment zone do not gain benefit to their saving throws when it comes to prepared positions.

I honestly fast forwarded after the first 2 minutes the marine shooting phase because its obscene lol..

Was really really reaaaaally surprised the game hasn’t ended an hour later. I was expecting the video was long so you guys are doing post bat rep/review talk lol
