No judgement on people for who tournament play is their kind of game, but give me a narrative battle report any day with laughs and banter over serious lists, meta and mathhammer.

This was the best battle report I’ve ever watched on this channel, it was amazing. Massive shout out to bone for such a good attitude when things weren’t going his way and he pulled it back around with patience and skill, Amazing game!

I like the idea of the Ravenguard but it does feel like things need to go your way to be successful.

I think some armies or units should be allowed to shoot at units that have wrapped to prevent being targeted.

Absolutely fantastic work!
These tactica, with the between round talks, are the next level stuff!
Love them, even more than the normal ones!

Most entertaining tactica I have watched.
Bone, hope you now see how superior Avengers are to rangers for Aeldari troops.
Think we have see the rise of a new superhero duo- Eldrad and his side kick Exarch take on the galaxy!

Congratulations Mr BBone! One Stratagem that I think would have given you a cleaner win is “Exemplar of the Hunter Shrine” from Phoenix Rising: “Use this Stratagem before the battle. When you select a Crimson Hunter Exarch power from the list opposite, you can take that ability in addition to the Marksman’s Eye”. I do find the wording confusing on that strat: you can argue that all the CHEs that choose Hawkeye also get to have Marksman’s eye. Chef, what do you think about the way to interpret the wording? 3 CHEs hitting on 2s re-rolling 1s all game would… Read more »

Love the Tactica’s!

Re-rolls are a very odd game mechanic to me, currently I think it’s a pretty broken and need to have massive points increases… OR give all factions re rolls.

Chef (or the others – but Chef appears to be lurking 😉 ) – hope you don’t mind, but was curious about something (and this seemed a logical place to ask). I don’t know how long the production cycles you guys work on is, but I noticed that of the c45 releases since the Space Marine book came out, only 6 (maybe 7?) of them contain ‘new’ marines. Given the channel is pretty good at not taking full on filth (and a lot of the much publicised issues are from the ‘filth’), are you guys avoiding them for reason? (Not… Read more »

it physically hurt me everytime Bone rolled for his starcannons first on a unit with no models wounded. It wound up not mattering much, but that extra wound or two can matter, so I’d always fire the pulse lasers into a unit with no wounded models first, then the star cannon. the reverse is true too, star cannons first into a unit with a wounded model so that you’re not wasting extra damage

awesome game guys real nail biter i really thought bone had lost it there but i always under estimate the power of those eldar fliers really well played bone keep up the awesome work guys

Master Artisans why not with Agressors, but in a Raven Guard wouldn’t the obvious choice (with Assaut Centurions by the way) be Long-Range Marksmen? I mean with the Strike from the shadows / Infiltrators stratagems, you land 9″ away from the enemy and unload 6d6 flamer hits + 36 bolter shots for just 156pts… I don’t think Master Artisans can compete in a list with so many shots…
My two cents on the list-making…
Great job anyway guys!!!

Hmm is Princeps of Deceit Phobos only? I thought it was an Infantry restriction. Correct me if i’m mistaken though please 😀

Great game again gents! Point of contention since this was a tactica Mr. BBone you should have waited to shoot the infiltrator for last just incase you needed to split fire to kill the librarian. Glad you didnt need to though! Great game!

Best batreps by far.

I think you made an error at 2hrs – when aggressor fires after rolling 4+ from the ancient. It can only fire one of it’s weapons. So 6 shots with boltstorm gauntlets only – no firing twice or using fragstorm. Great report though!

Ok guys you redeemed yourself by doing the Raven Guard some proper justice 🙂 I think with those Centurions (1x assault and 1x ranged grav or heavy bolters) you would have done better. Also Shrike ofc is auto include in any list, you do not have to waste cp on making him chapter master and he is really good for his points anyway even just with his sniper bolt pistol from behind. One thing i disagree with you is that choice of chapter tactics, i would have taken maybe the Raven Guard basic chapter tactic since with so much infantry… Read more »

This report was so epic that I have changed my game tonight to ITC rules instead to give it a go. The way you explain as you go and have so much fun doing it, Frontline should be paying you all to teach others the format!!

Alright last comment. Chef your dice were awful, AWFUL while Bones dice were on FIRE. The fact that you came so close is a massive credit to your thoughtfulness when playing the Dragons. Well done to you Chef!

oh if you just remembered Cegorch’s Jest in the beginning when the invictor fell back that would have been huge BBone, but man i really really enjoyed that one, this was just sooo nice to watch and so damn close man i cant really get over it right now xD just loved the aeldari army with the clowns ;D For the Raven Guard i didnt really had the feeling it was a raven guard army, but more just an army of primaris doing their thing like they do in all the other battlereports, dont know if boring might be the… Read more »

Great game – these batreps are of the highest class! It also shows how fatigue sets in the later the game goes … Bone should have moved the spiritseer to the objective in last round 🙂 If you can make some comments (might have to be when you watch it through after though with a fresh eyes) that would be awesome. Another note – I would ALWAYS shoot the pulse lasers first to maximise wound application … then the starcannons so damage would be wasted on the wounded leftovers from the starcannons. Something I’m missing here? Once again – love… Read more »

That was bloody brilliant! A stellar performance by Bone, Eldrad was epic but all units were outshone by the Dire Avenger who would not die. He’s in the infinity circuit and guaranteed to come back as something cool, like a Wraith Fighter or Lord. Bravo Gentlemen that made great viewing.

So love seeing the Raven Guard get used! Awesome. I know you guys don’t proxy, but would be nice to see more of the units typical of a Raven Guard list, so hopefully in the future. Since this was a Tactica and you guys are trying to show things to the utmost comp level, would be nice to have Chef bite his tongue and just take the reminder to use his Chaplain abilities. I know hes trying to be sporting, but since you are trying to show off each list’s super potential, might be nice to see all it has… Read more »

That was a great tactical guys! I can’t wait until you do one on the Orks. I really enjoy the part where you talk to each player between turns. I like that about Chef in the spider when they play games they explain why they’re doing things how they do things it really helps me as a new player.

DelinquentBunny

Right, I’m expecting a tabling on turn two and then Chef being allowed to talk about everything he doesn’t agree with in 40K. Hence a 4 hour run time.

Hi guys! Another great battle, thanks! I really like the new format of Tactica where you explain a lot of decisions and I can learn something from it, especially the after round talks. Have you thought about doing a similar thing after deployment? It would be shorter because there would not be an assessment of a previous turn but I’d like to hear the reasoning for the deployment and the plan for the first turn. Keep up the great work!

Hey guys just wanted to show my appreciation for you guys listening to the comments and reacting. I myself have my own multi space marine chapter. I watch every battle report huge fan here. Some suggestions for your additions to the dragons. Ofcourse centurions. But I hope you will consider a leviathan dread and at least one or two thundefire cannons. Those three units right there are going to be the most prevalent amongst Imperial Fists Salamanders Iron hands. For Raven Gaurd the centurions are all your missing. I love watching yawls battle reports but to truly get a taste… Read more »

Amazing battle. Would like to see Chef to play RG more often. Eldar with Flyers and jetbikes was a Hard match up especially with not going first. And Bone rolled like a god.

how about eliminators as an anti tank unit?
Eliminator Squad [4 PL, 98pts]
. Eliminator Sergeant: Camo cloak, Instigator Bolt Carbine
. 2x Eliminator with Las Fusil: 2x Camo cloak, 2x Las Fusil
you get 2 las fusils with s8 d3 and 36″ range. for 100pts
with the camo cloack they are -2 and with that quiet safe and if the sergeant dont attack they wound anything up to t16 on a 4+ and with the insigator they hard to charge.
for one unit of 10 hellblaster you get 3 and a half squads of eliminators

Great game guys that was pretty epic. I knew it was gonna be a good one when I saw a run time of almost four hours. I had to watch this over the course of last night this morning and in the Afternoon. But I do wanna say first to Lawernece. I am ONLY speaking for myself when I say this. As a fan of this channel I am ok with you guys using the rules and models for special characters in the Obsidian dragon. But you have to use their models, with slight conversions such as using the Obsidian… Read more »

Raven Guard seem very complex to use, having seen them a few times down my local club they either win big or get taken apart fast. I feel they need some buffs, in particular Kayvaan Shrike should do more. Apart from that the space marines in general are fine, GW should start looking at some other Xenos races soon been too long for those players. Next rules are for Chaos and Black Templars but surely some changes for Tau, Necrons needed asap

Loved it! As always, you guys put out amazing content.

I do gotta say, I disagree with the decision you guys came to at 2:03:30 for the shooting of the aggressor after the banner though. If Chef would have picked the gauntlets had he realized it was one weapon.. then the gauntlets is what you should have given him. It’s not his fault they worked out to have done the damage. I’m sure if the fragstorms had done damage and the gauntlets wiffed you would have gone with those. Or roll for it… this just seemed massively in Bone’s favor.

Fantastic tactica, fellas. Lotta times you wonder if a tactica report is gonna be entertaining just because of how hardcore everyone tweaks their lists and hard they play, but this was perfect fun to watch.

I’m a bit confused, as there clearly must be something I’m missing. I get that you’re using Master Artisans and Stealthy as your chapter tactics, but how does that allow you to use Raven Guard strategems etc? I mean; you’re not actually running Raven Guard (or even a Raven Guard successor) According to page 56 of the Raven Guard supplement (I assume similar supplements have the same sort of rules). It says ‘If the successor Chapter you have chosen does not have a known founding Chapter but *has* the Inheritors of the Primarch Successor Tactic, and you have selected the… Read more »

Primaris marines can run out of puff but if they get a good alpha strike off it can be curtains. 2019 Chapter approved will be interesting, because marines are a tad too broken. Although with Christmas on the horizon I dare say we will wait until April to see Marines actually balanced.
