Can anyone tell me what models were used for the farseer and warlock? I love the way they ride the bikes like a wind surfer. Also the shining Spears look fantastic and I would love to know how they were made as well
Maybe this is a mishap but the start of the game says 2000 pts but than the army lists say 1750?
All soup lists should be banned immediately and go back to a type of allowed allies form of army lists. All armies should have the rule like the marines do that if you dont have an army of one keyword then you dont get the special traits, etc for that army. Also would love to see a system where the CP’s can only be used by the race/faction/etc that brought them (in a mixed list), tired of seeing gaurd fuel knights or gaurdians fuel harlequins. Each army/faction should have strengths and weaknesses and soups get around that and its stupid,… Read more »
I had a very similar game last night , the shining spears charging turn 1, skipping over the screen, tagging everything as the incarn popped up and prevented overwatch. Hideous. When your opponent has Uber weapons and you have T-shirt saves and they are -1 to hit and you roll cloak and shadows maelstrom. I felt like beard did.
Is anyone able to tell me what bits the shining spears rider bodies are from?
7:30 in and im already going: “Ohh….. chef…..” 😀 I know its not that kind of game bu on the gamey front: Id suggests you run the spears next time with hunters of ancient relics/headstrong or just plain saim han (youd want a skyrunner autarch with novalance if you going to do that though.. get on it sanga!!!!) ALso ghost walk of focus will I think are probably the best powers to run, the others are very sub par. Anyway hope you guys work in more CWE elements. Ulthwe are probably one of the bottom tier craftwrolds. However all that… Read more »
Everything is better with Beard™️
The last dice roll of Beard & Chef summarize this entire game LOL!
Urgent that Goffs get some love in Psychic awakening
Thank you for the batrep! Was looking forward to it since you posted the armies on Instagram. Was quite entertaining… I play Ynnari as my main faction and I try to play them competitiv. There is a few things to note here: There is almost no reason to put the Yncarne in reserve. Having him/her on the board turn 1 provides shrugs and moral as well as some psychic. He/She can teleport mid battle anyway. I usually rush a large unit of Reavers up the board with advance and charge (start or cult) and give them LfR during enemy shooting… Read more »
Really off topic here, but seeing Nagash, Shadespire and if I remember well hearing that you were getting into AoS and myself getting into AoS after cursing GW for many years for the death of fantasy… when can we expect AoS battle reports?
I’m really looking forward to see what PA gives the Orks, I think they need a little spice to make them interesting again. Outside of spamming boyz (very fluffy) and artillery they seem a little dull. So many of their cool models/units don’t seem to feature on the tabletop with sufficient frequency. This BR was great fun because of the lists chosen but it was evidence again of why you don’t see many Ork lists running these types of units…
Nice to see the Ynnari in action. Much appreciated!
Watching this got me thinking about how to run my own list. I think majority Harlequins is the way to go. The inherent rules for Harlequins make two of the more expensive Ynnari stratagems unnecessary (Ynnead’s Net, Inevitable Fate). While you do lose Prismatic Blur, you still have Lightning-Fast Reactions, Fire & Fade and Webway Ambush. The ability to regain lost wounds or even a lost model from a unit is pretty strong, too, especially w/ the Skyweavers.
Looking forward to more Ynnari!
Yncarne unfortunately cannot Heroically Intervene on a turn (including on an opponent’s turn) in which it was removed from the battlefield and set up again using her special teleport (just like any kind of movement is disallowed after teleports, etc..).
The only exceptions (normally) of moves that are allowed after an in-turn re-deploy / teleport type ability are charge, pile-in and consolidate. Heroic Intervention is none of those three.
Yncarne is just a poor man’s smash captain with an 8″ move, fewer attacks, only a 4++ that cannot move through walls for 280 points, really. Though the model is cool.
Nice to see Chef get some of his luck back after his dicerolling vs Bone. Btw, your website seems to be really slow right now (the last few days at least). It takes a good 15 sec+ to load any of your pages. Any other website I visit loads immediately. Serverproblem?
I think I understand now why Chef had such bad luck playing the orks vs bones tau after this game. A bit of luck be owed to the dicegods. 😀
Love seeing the yncarne lay waste to things, such a fun movement mechanic on that model!
Also, just a little note, stormboyz can opt to advance normally, or choose to advance a flat 6″, in which case they have to roll to see if some of them land face first.
Cheers
Super excited to see some ynnari on the channel again! I just wanted to make a couple of clarifications as to minor rules changes which effected ynnari; the yncarne has a static warlord trait “warden of souls”. In an faq recently, units which enter as if from reinforcements cannot move for any reason other than to charge, pile in, or consolidate, on the turn they arrive on the board. This applies to heroic intervention. It was a massive blow to the playstyle of the yncarne. Chef, the avatar of Khaine is also a daemon. I’m on the fence with the… Read more »
Chef, it seems like you stumbled upon a list\combo that has a huge amount of potential. Perhaps we could get this list refined and played again as 2000 points? Maybe refined further and geared competitively as a tactica? Would love to see this played those two more times.
So much more fun!
Such a relief after the dour tactica rush of late!
Man, I missed Beard.
BEARD WE LOVE YOU
Nice game! the Chef/Beard combo is always a win in my book
Nigel vs. Zagstruk, Bone vs. Beard, Orks vs. Orks batrep. Words cannot describe how much this needs to happen. Make it happen. Please.
Chef, what did you mean when you said that Ynnari are not that bad. They got nerfed, while not into the ground, but certainly into extremely one-dimensional playstyle with little reason to forgo the original codex. a little rant: 1. CWE, yeah +1 to hit and all stratagems are nice, but that is only for melee and you have to sacrifice all of your psychic powers that are so vital in 99% of cases. I will never trade Jinx/Protect, Quicken, Doom, Fortune, Guide for what is essentially a rubbish version of Doom that works only in melee and maybe a… Read more »
Joy of joys! It has finally happened, Chef, you did dig those Shining Spears and Skyrunners of Lawrence’s kitbashing past. That was a good game, oh and thank you for bringing Ynnari and, of course, for sidestepping your principles to bring soup. Even if it was not as close as one would like, it was nice to see Ork Dread Whaaagh with some actual Death Dreds and Kans and those new shiny toys given to CWE in the last Phoenix Rising.
Only just watching the intro, but I remember Lawrence showcasing the Ynnari when their most recent rules dropped. I’m sure it was against Bone and his Tau but I might be wrong there.
There’s a part of me that also vaguely remembers Lawrence using old Ynnari near the beginning of 8th edition in a Tactica. I have a strong memory of double tapping Dark Reapers using the old trick of Fire and Fade back into a transport before that was killed in an FAQ.
