The Raven Guard “target stuff you can not see” -Bolts can´t be put on a warlord with the marksman´s honor trait, I tought. In the German codex it say´s, that the +1D upgrade dose not work on grenades and reliqs. Dose the english version say somthing else?

Oof, little bit of a rough one there for Chef on the rolling and the matchup.

My experience has been that theres a very significant drop-off in marine efficiency when you step away from the high-tier chapter/marine combos. The reason raven guard are so good, is delivering centurion/aggressors bombs. The best RG list don’t even use elims as much anymore. When you start stepping away from that you take a total nosedive in efficiency.

Maybe not going super hard vs all marine lists would be wise for some better games.

Another awesome Bat Rep, as always guys! 😉 Love the balance and effort you guys put into the games using Tactica, ‘Normal’ & Narrative alongside list variation! 😉 Especially appreciated Chef’s effort to put out a themed Marine list out on this one. Nice one sir 😉 *Applause for Chef* [Was still rooting for Lawrence btw, as I think Chef was correct… a lot of players see Marine opponents as the underdogs in the current meta &, as you know, us Brits love an underdog! They may be scummy, villainous, Slaanesh birthing, lovers of pain & excess; but that only… Read more »

As a a Drukhari player that was awesome, both the Spider’s victory and that awesome Chef special! I’m not a marine player so I’m no expert, but would two squads of aggressors and the third Invicta instead of the Reivers help? Aggressors in tactical doctrine are truly terrifying.

Yeah i wish the lists were either fluffy on both sides or competitive on both sides. Its silly if its like this. I hate competitive lists they make no sense in “reality”. Most armies in history have been mostly rank and file troops with some elites, competitive play and the fact that GW caters to it has, in my opinion, tainted this game. As always the batreps are fun and i love watching them all, but it would be nice if the lists were comparable. We used to call this type of drukhari list min/maxing lol. Still my favorite channel… Read more »

I really felt this game Chef. Seemed like you were channeling your inner Beard during this. I would like to see the space marine list again in another battle report to see how it goes up against a different army.

Great batrep, even if Chef’s turns were all painful to see his rolling. But as a heads up, there was one time on your venom you rolled a 5 for the FnP and said it passed when a 6 is required. Also, when the rievers fought the venoms, you rolled one six and two fails but chef thought you rolled double sixes which would have resulted in the venom dying right then and there.

Great batrep guys; I was dying of laughter the whole time.

Don’t worry Spider, playing unfairly is as fluffy as it gets for us Drukhari players.

Oh dear that was a silly game, but I do love a fluffy Raven Guard list!

Drukhari are still fantastic marines killers if they’re given the chance.

I swear Lawrence revels in being the bad guy, brings a Nuclear weapon to a Reaver knife fight.

And we all know Reavers use butter knives!

Anyone that tells me Space Marines are broken, I’m going to send them a link to this video 😉
But seriously, this full Phobos Armour Raven Guard list needs to be thrown on the tabletop again. Very cool army list!

Really cool army Chef, always enjoy fluff over competitive. I was wondering if you have Drazhar in the studio or any klaivex. It would be really interesting to see how the Spider delivers them, plus they are so badass. Entertaining as always guys, keep up the good work!

You mention in the end having first turn is a big advantage which is hard to disagree with. One thing I think you could though, to balance it out a bit, is to put down a little more LOS-blocking terrain, especially in the middle of the board. Some reports you do, some you don’t, but when the board is open in the middle like this, the having the first turn becomes too big of an advantage in my opinion 🙂

Love the drukhari, such a beautiful army :). Btw the talos cant pile in if they are not within an inch. Only units that have charged can do this.

Am I the only one who thinks the line of sight rules in 8th are a bit sh!te? Remember back in second edition there was soft and hard cover. Basically, if a model was 50% obscured it was either -1 or -2 depending on soft or hard cover e.g. behind a plascrete barricade (hard) or behind a hedge or ammo crates (soft). In addition you had a 90 degree fire arc which made a difference on overwatch (i.e. shooting in an opponents turn if they moved into sight). Also, vehicles moving above a certain speed had additional -1 to hit… Read more »

Always enjoy watching Chef play, gives the army he is playing his absolute all. I think in this instance the armies were so incredibly imbalanced from the start. One looks at Spiders list and I basically knew the outcome of the game.

Bolters versus Vehicle/Talos spam? Never going to go well. Kind of like Grey Knights versus pure Daemons.

PLEASE: Do a Narrative with the Sslyth in a prominent speaking role with a voice-over by the B-Bone! Please?!

Anyway, thanks for the slaughter-fest… Fun to watch non the less!

On a side note @Chef: The average wounds for 9 dessi shots with reroll1s to hint and wound is indeed between 6-7. No need to be frustrated by 6 wounds then… 😉

Cheers!

I really enjoyed this game. Always like Chef playing Maelstrom as you always find a play or something cool to do even with one model left. Totally how I play as well. Make something epic happen…! (that was an epic set of dice rolls! haha)
Looked like you both had so much fun playing and recording it 🙂 Thank you for still turning these out.

Stay safe everyone, one of my favourite vids of recent weeks!! Loved it.

Chris 🙂

Fun Raven Guard army, great theme. 1. Hungry for battle, that looks like a really fun successor trait i might try it on my Raptors. Inheritors of the primarch would nice on this kind of infantey heavy list though. 2. Infiltrators, these guys are great but i find i am only taking them for the scrambler array 12″ bubble. 15 infiltrators cost the same as 23 intercessors, which is fair against deep strike heavy armies but dead weight in this game. 3. Incursors have got me very excited as they are a super points efficient phobos troop unit, i would… Read more »

Spider brings an ITC Drukhari list vs a fluffy Phobos list…. OK.

On a serious note, I would really appreciate if you guys would stop bringing Invictors in literally EVERY single Space Marine game.

They arent that good, and the points could be used to showcase some other cool Space Marine units instead.

I like the idea of there being multiple things in a game so that one strat or style cannot be undisputed king. I play the possessed bomb so I understand if you have a deep hatred of thunderfire canons…. (Tremor Shells your mother not my possssed) With any luck GW will move to a digital rules and update format in the future. Because he traditional CA paper model just doesn’t work when you balance a game for 6 months prior and then make sweeping changes for every army…. Right now my necrons feel pretty crap, but who is to say… Read more »

Could you consider kit bashing some suppressors with some spare bits you have lieing around… ? A jump pack and an auto canon modified would do it. It doesn’t look terrible and certainly isn’t the most controversial choice.

Venoms measure from the base not the haul. Ravagers and Raiders measure from the haul.
The Talos can’t attack the Librarian, because they did not make a charge and they were not within an inch of an enemy unit. It’s in the core rules.

Goes to show that Space Marines aren’t busted unless you bring forge crap.

Wow Raven guard are so sneaky they just vanished into thin air turn one and moments later you couldn’t tell that they was ever there.

Jokes aside, great batrep and Chef deserves a pint for holding up so long as he did.
I really want to bring Reivers because they look so cool but they alway dissapoint, I think the only army that can field them are White Scars and even there they are bad :/

Thank you for the batrep! It was a pity the match was so unbalanced, I am not a great player but looking at the lists I was sure it would end like this, even without the difference in luck or the errors in the deployment… I’m a bit surprised that experienced players like you choose to use them all the same, without further tweaks.
That said, it’s always a pleasure to watch the content you make, and this game was useful for learning more about drukhari, in view of future tournaments in my area

I love this list with the exception of the reivers, which was spoken about. I think in the situation where the raven guard know they are going second, the eliminators should be deployed as front line troops to take advantage of their move after firing overwatch. Hemming the opponent in with cheep troops that can potentially move out of charge range after firing overwatch can cause failed charges and hold the enemy combat units in place.

Brutal batrep! Good to see the Drukhari again, my favourite army by a long shot. Just as a point of future reference Chef as it didn’t really matter in any instance in this game, but you don’t measure distances to the hull/wings of Venoms, only to their base. Per the core rules you always measure to the base of a model if it has one unless it has a special rule on its datasheet overriding it. Ravagers have such a rule but it isn’t the case for Venoms. You do of course still measure line of sight from them, use… Read more »
