You should consider PiP for the dice trays– I’m catching up on episodes and the camera spends way too much time looking at dice trays and it’s harder to follow what is shooting.

Do Leman Russ tanks still have ObSec in a Spearhead in 9th?

I posted this on You Tube, but I’ll repeat it here: A question for the Pastry Chef: don’t you think that the -1 to hit cap really hurts Harlequins and it takes away from an army thematic bonus? I am not saying that -3/-4 to hit needs to come back, but I feel like -2 would be manageable. Either as a core rule or as a specific bonus for Harlequins (the same way the T’au got the Overwatch bonus). I don’t know if this will come in a future codex or if there is something that is missing, but I… Read more »

Fantastic bat rap but I’m slightly confused alot of play testers are saying quins are going to be powerful because of our rising crescendo rule but you are not playing it? Why not?

Maybe this is waiting on an FAQ for it to apply to everyone, but i thought plasma only hurts you on an unmodified roll of a 1 now?

Regarding the blast rule, i think i commented om another game about it, but read it again now when you where speaking about it Chef and yes it seems you are right. The weapon makes a minimum of 3 attacks is what it says not minimum 3 per dice. 😛 so sorry for the nuisance before. 🙂

Keep up the good work guys. You are awesome! 😀

i dont get why GW made the new overwatch rule. costs 1 CP to overwatch ?! and thats pr. unit getting charged ? thats Bull imo.. does not make sense lore/logic/combat wise..
Situation :
A squad of guardsmen is being charged by a Carnifex wielding boneswords thats double the size/length of a human. New rule states : dont shoot a the charging enemy unless a superior officer tells you to. Sargeant dont count as such..Lore/logic/combat wise states : Shooooooooot the fucker charging us !!
Meh.. makes no sense to me 😀

This is a comment from Влад Бурханов from Youtube:
“Chef be like: I have made my combo-mombo army list, over 9000 play, stratagem and army sinergy, used 101% of the brain power!
Bone be like: Guys, I made my list, yeah, LoL-KeK cheburek play, I like when guns do boom-boom, over 9000 plant play, have fun.”

  • Its just that hilarious

That was a very entertaining video. Way to highlight the redeployment stratagems, Chef. Need to make sure some points are always set aside just in case the Harlies go second. Loved to see the all-star Infantry Squad take it to the Clowns! This game brought into focus my need to consider reevaluating my own Tallarn list. As much as I like to run it, I think I need to shift away from fielding my Doomhammer and try to maintain a single detachment in my list. Funny how the horde armies got hit hardest by the new CP accumulation rules going… Read more »

Hey Bone,
I think you rolled too less attacks for the Bullgryns. Each one has 3 attacks and the Bone’ead does have 4 base.

Mark Orosz

That was a really good game. Good back and forth and it was nice to see that in a Harlequins vs Guard match up since I think in 8th edition with fly and vehicle rules the Harlequins had an edge then. Bone – I wonder if there was value in leaving your tank commander in combat turn 2 against the bikes? The commander could have shot the engaged bike squad. The bikes melee strike back doesn’t seem incredibly effective. Then you could have focused your shooting on opening up the transports and killing a unit of troops or two if… Read more »

Fun game!
I just have to say though, I really dislike the dicetrays and the constant bouncing from tray to person to tray to person to table to tray to person to tray to table to tray to person to

What a close game, probably one of the most entertaining of 9th that I’ve seen so far. Now just imagine if the Bullgryn didn’t wiff all those attacks, would’ve been a nail biter!

Damn. That was a hugely entertaining game. Really fantastic. It felt like both players were making solid plans and executing them well. For Harlequins, Guard are always a very tough matchup and when I saw that much armour on the board (with 3 Hellhounds, no less!) I thought it looked like a real uphill climb. And early on it felt that with both tank commanders surviving it would turn those tables, but congratulations to Chef on playing the objectives. The secondaries are definitely one aspect I haven’t got my head around yet but it looks very interesting. (First ever comment… Read more »

Wait, re: the dual battalion to accomodate for more HQs – does the supreme command detachment not give you 3 HQs and bonus CP as well instead of spending them? Or am I missing something?

Hey Chef,
I believe Star Weaver don’t have the “Hover Jet” rule, like Land Speeders. It means, we mesure all distance from its base.
And as well, cant re-roll à morale test now… (on the lonely bike)
But as usual, beatiful batrep !!!!

Hey guys do you happen to have an idea when you are able to use the 9th changes beyond just core rules? Is it going to have to wait till the release date you think?

Chef, you say the transports no longer get to fall back and shoot due to the changes to fly. The guys on board can due to their rising crescendo though. I’m sure you know this already but something about the way you mentioned it made me just want double check.

Very fun game to watch. Funny enough the Tallarn did very well despite being the guard regiment that needs the new codex the most. The new rules for 9th made the most powerful half of their regimental doctrine void so it will be interesting to see how they change them to make up for that. Don’t forget the other tank orders BBone. GKoS can kind of be a trap, as giving up reroll ones for a turn could have bought you a -1 to hit the tanks (strike and shroud) or allowed you to pull those tanks behind the terrain… Read more »

Thanks for a very close and entertaining game, some crazy rolling aside! I’m thinking of moving away from using the Solitaire at the moment – he rarely seems to do enough to justify the points and the CP (for the mandatory Rose relic). In fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen him do anything great at all, probably because he sprints off on his own most of the time and is immediately killed. Shame, he’s such an iconic character! The Troupe Master with the Fang seems a lot more efficient; for extra indulgence add in the Darkness’ Bite pivotal role… Read more »

6:25 Thank you for explaining the mission level Chef! I was wondering why there was a gap between 6CP and 12CP Strike Force with no 9CP 1500 Level compromise as I assumed the rules were 6CP for 1,000-1,999 and that seemed a bit limiting.
