Black Templars vs Thousand Sons | Warhammer 40k Boarding Action Battle Report

Boarding Actions is back and with a whole new book – packed with missions and multiple detachments for each faction! We love this book and cannot wait to delve deep into the corridors of Space Hulks and shattered battleships for close and frantic boarding action games. To celebrate the release we are kicking off with the Mighty Black Templars hunting down the insidious Witches of the Thousand Sons. Will the Templars disdain for sorcery see them through or will the trickery of Tzeentch steal victory from the hands of Dorns zealous sons?

My favorite part about smaller games is, individual models have a chance to shine. Large games are usually decided when a Landraider full of Bladeguard and a Captain smash into a Battlewagon full of Meganobz and a Warboss. Which is always good for a laugh. But small games can see the last model of an infantry squad desperate to take the last wound off of the enemy warlord. It makes the effort of building and painting that one model worth it. Boarding Actions sets the stage so well for that to happen, over and over again. And it’s thanks to… Read more »

Loving boarding the actions content! I recently played my World Eaters against a friend who was using the Grey Knights Baneslayer Strike detachment with a brother chaplain and 2×5 terminators. Bringing back terminators in boarding actions is a wild ability! Bard or the spider should give it run out 😊

What a great game! I am so excited about getting my hands on the book and finally getting to play, at least once my friends and I sit down and get all the terrain cleaned and ready to go. It will be totally worth it.

I have a rules question: Bard has a unit with multiple wounds (3W). If Chef shoots with Squad A and does a single wound, and then chooses Squad B to target the same unit, but Squad B can’t draw line of sight to the injured model, is he still the first to die if Chef achieves 2 more wounds on the unit?

Can we get whatever the dice rolling equivalent of an emotional support animal is for the Bard? 😆
Or maybe hire someone to roll the dice for him? 😜

I’m building my terrain while I watch this. Your review sold me on this game and a couple people in my gaming group are interested in playing and one is excited to be able to. I can’t wait.

I think this is one of the best boarding action games you’ve done. Love Chef going into the nitty gritty details about rules, movement, line of sight etc. It really shows how tactical boarding actions is!
Thanks for a great game!
The minute I saw the emperors champion, I was like… hey, might as well have put an avatar on the board (thinking how he single-handedly mopped up half an army in the recent big report). But the dice wanted otherwise.

Love boarding Action but I’m not a fan of how they’ve done the leader rules. I don’t like spending cp to give a unit a buff and to top it off the character doesn’t benefit from it. Should just been your character always gets their own buffs and selects a unit within 6” that it can lead at the end of the command phase. That unit gets the buff as well. If the unit selected has a rule that only activates when being led, it gets the rule and so does the character when being led. But the character wouldn’t… Read more »
