“everyone is talking about heresy and even if you don’t like the rules or want to play it you’re still interested in it and the lore” – Jinx
Sorry, I just don’t like people speaking for me, hard disagree, while I may be in the minority, I don’t care about Heresy at all, I enjoyed the books, that’s where my interest in it stops. 40k or nothing.
Just calling out the echo chamber of people who might like 30k all saying it’s great, cause usually the people who don’t care for it, don’t comment about it either.
As a Salamanders player, I really like the look of them in Heresy. But, right now, I am so new that I am happy to stick with 40K
I hotel they make something similar for the war in heaven to be able to see catans and old ones as factions plus to see older and more powerful necrons , eldars and orkz , maybe even eldar gods
Ahh the Dreadwing, aka the war crimes department.
Sounds great there are other games than 40k who knew? Would love some more cast of players though!
I adore the new Saturnine Terminator kit, although I get why it splits a crowd. I always loved the original, and it was a nightmare to get a hold of one outside of 3D Printing. The update for 30k is great, it’s ridiculous in all the right ways 🤟
I have an interest in HH in that I’m probably going to buy and built a Space Wolves army at some point just for my collection because man… the models are stellar. But I’m likely never going to play the game
That said I would absolutely watch yall play it.
Y’all would have a blast with 30k, and I would greatly enjoy watching you enjoy it.
Would absolutely love to see heresy represented here.
I would love to see you guys dabble in Heresy. Heck, I would even foot a yearly sub for someone else if it helped make it happen!
I came for the heresy chat, I stayed for the pegging jokes 😂
I play 40k more than anything else, but I prefer Heresy for the rules and the focus on the narrative instead of uber competitive play. The models are amazing and they have balanced the Primarchs well, in my opinion, for the game.
I would love it if you guys started to cover Heresy and I would make sure I never miss a report. Though I understand you need to be sure you would get the views and turn out.
Hope it is viable for you. 😁
I’m a big “no thanks” on HH but to each their own.
Guess I’m buying 6 Saturnines and painting them like the Regis now…
Is Old World and/or Valtor dead at this point?
I like HH, but I prefer 40k. I personally don’t find HG as interesting because for the most part its marine vs marine, which gets dull for me. Not only does 40k have the various xenos races but the traitor leagions are more interesting because of all the changes they been put through following chaos for ten thousand years. HH is two mostly identical marines fighting. Sure, different legions can have unique units and stuff but overall they are not different enough to interest me as much as 40k. Also the story, we know the ending of HH and where… Read more »
I’m working my way through the heresy novels, just finished Garro. I enjoy the setting, but love 40k. However I do really enjoy watching heresy batreps, so if you did them, I’d definitely watch them.
The topic of saturnine terminators is really interesting, I got the opportunity to see the minis in person at the Dallas open. In the photos, I’m not a big fan, however in person and getting to see them up close makes me think they are quite cool, the photos don’t nearly do them justice.
I personally find the stakes and setting much more gripping in the Horus Heresy. Would love you guys to play some!
I would love to see HH on the site, just for the sake of variety. 40k is fun and all but I really miss seeing AOS and Old World sprinkled in. I completely understand that covering 4 games is a massive investment, but perhaps even just 40k PLUS one other game, even if that other game changes now and then. Like a [insert other game] Saturday sort of deal, even if what that game is changes regularly. Variety is the spice of life, and with 40k having a very specific sort of vibe, I personally would like to see just… Read more »
I’ve been looking at 30K because everyone where I am seems only to want to play tournament style 40K with specific terrain and footprints and board set ups that basically have become a puzzle people more dedicated than me have resolved. I think a handful of 40K rules make no sense, like shooting a guardman from a vehicle will allow it’s lascannon to lethal hit another vehicle. I would love to see yall play 30K, but I don’t have my hopes up. I’ve seen AOS, Old World and Chronicles of Valtor end, the last one being rather painful to me,… Read more »
Ok, so I can acknowledge that the heresy-setting is really popular by now, that Marines in general are absurdly popular and that it fully makes sense for GW to focus more on 30K because of that. Furthermore, I can appreciate the differences regarding the game mechanics itself (mainly regarding because of the old editions of 40K I played) and the different styles, especially the homage on old designs. But that said, all in all I simply don’t get it. If 40K is a classic opera, 30K is another one with more singers, but no orchestra, no stage design and no… Read more »
I really want to see the Saturnine terminators without the big rounded shoulders. The rest of the model looks great!
That aside, totally agree with James, the Dread is cool, the Termies look derpy
I enjoy that HH pushes me towards 3D printing instead of buying resin. It opens up options for custom sculpts of characters I love reading about and makes the army more unique.
Me personally I fully agree I pretty much just play old world now. Heresy is going into the mix as well. 40k just isn’t hitting the spot aside from fluff at the moment
I’d love to see some Horus Heresy on the channel. I don’t play myself and I’ll always prefer 40k’s setting but I’m all for more variety. Plus it means you might do more Old World too (I can dream!)
Salamanders are best bois. All the flames! I know I’d enjoy watching some Heresy. I’d love seeing some primacy duels.
I think my beef with Heresy is that I love the models (I have a Kratos and Spartan I plan to add to my Dark Krakens eventually, legends or not) but it loses out on a lot of 40K players who either actively dislike Marines or are just not invested in the lore of the Heresy era. This is one area where I think Old World just does better than Heresy, having a wider variety of aesthetics and loads of flavor while keeping the crunchy, wargaming feel. Regardless, I’ll still watch HH batreps you all put on, and perhaps that… Read more »
I love the Saturnine look, it’s beautifully big, beefy, and over the top. (Being a 40k Salamanders player doesn’t help with the bias tho)
HH is just so much more flavorful than 10th. Even a full 3k HH game doesn’t feel like just a over crowded board where you are rolling and re-rolling dozens of dice while everything feels just the same… and it reminds me how much I despise modern 40k close combat or vehicle rules…
I am excited to see what 3.0 will bring, but watching 2.0 games was always far more engaging than 9th or 10th edition so I hope you will find the audience for it.
By all means cover heresy, but when? I would like to see D&D back – don’t think I’m alone! Maybe one day a week cycle through heresy/sigma/boarding actions et al and lose one of the chat shows. By the way who’s going to tell Fletcher? ps Opening of the show, heresy is spelled incorrectly – sorry, I did retire but still see these things.
Can’t stress how much I would love you guys to cover 30k! The amazing spectale of 30k combined with the positive energy the TT team have would be fantastic. Also feel like you would love templates and 30k’s much better tank combat 🙂
Nice!!!!
It got me thinking!! Would love a 30k battlerep! Not a series just a onetime thing! (Fletcher his Sons of Horus).
I understand the point of investing in all the armies and understanding the rules etc. But a onetime special on a killteam, warcry, 30k or even bloodbowl would be glorious!!
Could even ask a guest to bring his army 🤘
Thanks for making the God Emperors work! You guys are awseome!
“You serve the hobby not with silence or servitude, but with laughter, spectacle, and zeal worthy of a crusade.”
Is it more compelling than 40k? It’s a really interesting question. What I find is that heresy is a *campaign setting* within 40k. It encourages narrative play because it’s very constrained. A narrative campaign is incredibly easy to set up in heresy, because it’s 2 factions (yeah, I know black shields exist). And the factions are fighting over the same objectives – control of resources/spacelanes/insert McGuffin here. And a lot of people love narrative play – it’s the most satisfying way to play as your characters and squads and army’s story develops. As Lawrence has said – we hobby much… Read more »
DO IT! For the Warmaster or for the Emperor take a side and join the battle.
After you mentioned the Guyver it has completely altered my take on this model range…. and…. now it’s grown on me!!
THE GUYVER…. what a reference and throwback.
Great episode as always guys!
You guys need to play Heresy I feel; it’s a constant refrain of you feeling nostalgic for things like wargear, templates etc that I think at the very least would be good to get out your system lol. There’s likely a bigger audience for it than old world so might be more financially viable? I’d be keen to see a ‘thoughts’ review on one of the podcast vids summing up your experiences after a few games (does it measure up to expectations, is the crunch providing fun narratives etc). A fun adventure!
I’m working through an abridged version of the Horus Heresy on Audible and the White Scars books have stood out as some of the best in the whole series. I’d definitely join James in a fully mounted jetbike etc army. Maybe once I’ve finished all my other 40k projects in a couple dozen years…
Heresy rules, big yes. Love the granularity and the design lending to a more narrative game state over symmetrical, balanced missions. Armies, no. The biggest appeal for me in the grimdark universe is the diversity of factions, and Heresy is so restrictive even for xenos that should be around at that time (Orks and Eldar immediately spring to mind.) Tracked tanks are 100x better than primaris hover nonsense though and I wish they hadn’t scrapped them from 40k so soon after making the range plastic.
The box looks great for starting a 40k Iron Warriors Army, with Saturnine’s as Obliterators. The rules seem counterproductive.
I know this isn’t related to the video topic and I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere, but is Ed still around and ok? I feel like we haven’t seen him in a while. If he’s just been busy behind the scenes has he atleast been given fresh water?
Nope. Rules seem obtuse and the factions boring. It’s even worse that they seem to have based all the games I might have wanted to get into on HH. Epic coming back as HH only was a turn off, titanicus not going to all of the amazing titan sized stuff from 40k factions was sad and aeronautica phasing out all the other factions when they were fleshed out was a mystery.
I’d love to see some content here or there, 40k has just lost the flavor I remember through the years. 30k seems to have a way different and older edition feel (OFC 😅). I’m excited to see the new edition. SO STOKED THAT BARD IS SO EXCITED! 🤘🏻
I would love to see you guys play Horus Heresy
I can only speak for myself, but I’d love to see some Heresy battle reports on here or even the channel, especially with the new edition coming out.
