- WHAT: The Open League Games Day is a 2000pts 1 day event with up to 46 players. You will play 2 games of Warhammer 40,000, in a relaxed and casual setting. Games Days are a fun way to find new friends to play in our Open League via an organised event. Submitted game scores will count as ‘at home’ games, helping to increase players’ overall League Rankings.
- WHERE: Tabletop Tactics Studios, Unit C6 Ashville Court, Methuen Park, Chippenham, SN14 0ZE, United Kingdom (scroll to bottom for directions and map)
Welcome to a new theatre of war! We look forward to hosting you, Commander.
Before entering the crucible of war you must adhere to the following requirements:
- You must be a minimum of 18 years old to attend. 🔞
- Our events are private and for ticket holders only. No spectators are permitted due to our venue capacity limits. 🛑
- Our events are run using the Tabletop Tactics mobile application. Please ensure you have it installed with the latest version of software on your device. 📱
- Players who have purchased a ticket to the event will be allowed to register their attendance and submit their list via the Events tab of the League page in our mobile app. ✅
- You may change your list up to 24 hours before the event start time. Lists may not be changed during the course of the event. 📝
- You army must be fully painted and based with a minimum of 3 colours used. 🎨
- Miniatures in your army should be modelled with the equipment that has been paid for in your army list. Often known as WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). Note this does not prohibit creative conversions to ‘count as’ equipment, as long as its clear and consistent. 👀
- 3d Printed and Third Party accessories are permitted providing they meet the same dimension and base size requirements for the miniatures they are supposed to represent. Conversions following the above rules are also allowed. ⚔️
- You will need to have a Pariah Nexus Mission Card Deck, tape measure, set of dice and copy of your Codex or Army Data Cards. 🎲
- If you require accessibility access please contact us to let us know your requirements, so that we can provide you with the best experience on the day. ♿️
In order to co-ordinate your attack successfully, a tight schedule must be maintained:
- 9:30 Arrive 🕘
- 9:45 Welcome Briefing 🤝
- 10:00 Game 1 🎲
- 12:30 Lunch 🍽
- 13:45 Game 2 🎲
- 16:15 End game & army pack down 🧳
- 17:30 Venue and Lodge Bar close 🍻
In order to provide our players with the best experience possible throughout the course of our event, the following format and rules are in place:
- The event follows the rules of our Warhammer 40,000 Open League format including all current GW FAQs and Balance Dataslates.
- Our 1 day format consists of 2 games of 2000pts played over the course of the day, with 2 hours and 30 minutes allowed for each game.
- We employ a hard ‘dice down’ rule when a game round’s time has ended. Please do not begin a new game Battle Round with your opponent if you do not believe you can complete it on time.
- We expect games to be played to completion. In the event of that not being possible, we will accept an equal amount of turns played, providing both players are in agreement.
Army lists may be submitted and changed in our app for this event up to 24 hours before the event start time. Additionally, the following rules are in place:
- Army Lists are to be presented in a clear to read format, individually breaking down points costs of each unit and any equipment or upgrades they have. Where applicable, abilities chosen before a game begins, such as powers or traits must be written clearly on your list and used throughout the event. We recommend pasting lists from army building apps such as Battlescribe for this purpose. Note: It is your responsibility to check that the points in any army building app used are correct before submission.
- Lists are to follow the standard Warhammer 40,000 Matched Play rules, with units selected from their latest Codex, Index or Errata publication. As a result, Legends units are not permitted.
- Allies can be used, as determined by those Armies with rules enabling them. However, only one ally source can be used. For example, an army from the Imperium cannot use both Agents of the Imperium and Imperial Knight allies.
Primary Missions and Mission Rules in this event are drawn randomly from the Warhammer 40,000 Pariah Nexus Mission Deck.
- Each Primary Mission and Rule set will be drawn in front of all attending players before their next round of play.
- Once a Primary Mission and Mission Rule is played, it is removed from the remaining pool of available cards.
Our events are designed to create an immersive hobby experience that challenges your generalship across a variety of beautifully painted battlefields.
While we use the Terrain Layouts from the Leviathan Mission Companion as a guide, we also implement our own Keyword rules on terrain to make the battlefields more immersive and less uniform.
- At our events all Sealed Building structures such as Imperial Bastions, Nachmund Hab Units, Chaos Dreadforts and so on are also considered to block line of sight as if they were Ruins. Note, this does not permit units to pass through sealed buildings as if they were Ruins. They must go around or over them.
- Open Building structures or other similarly designed buildings that allow access into them such as Skyshield Landing Pads are also considered to block line of sight as if they were Ruins.
- Any gantries and or bridges that connect sealed building structures are still considered to be part of the building’s footprint, so block line of sight as if they were the walls of Ruins. Additionally, these may be passed through by Vehicle, & Monster units as if they were not there if their base allows them to clear it. For example, an Imperial Knight may pass through a waist height gantry that connects two sealed buildings, assuming it has the movement to pass through and stand on the other side.
- All Hills block line of sight as if they were Ruins.
- Trench Line terrain such as the Wall of Martyrs count as Barricades on either side of units within the trench line.
- Vehicle & Monster units may end their move on top of Trench Line terrain, such as the Wall of Martyrs effectively ‘straddling’ it. They may also move up onto parts of Sealed Building structures such as the Aquilla Stronghold if it is under 2″ in height and if their base size or footprint permits them to be placed on it. Note, it is permitted for a base to over hang slightly in these scenarios if the Vehicle or Monster may be placed safely.
- Due to the varying height of our terrain structures, we do not allow use of the Plunging Fire rules at our events.
- Crew will be on hand throughout the day to clarify and rules around the terrain you may have.
In order to facilitate tables that celebrate the hobby experience, while maintaining balance, the following rules are in effect:
- Terrain and Objectives are pre-placed on our boards to suit a pre-determined Deployment Map from the Pariah Nexus Mission Pack.
- Objectives may sometimes be placed on top of low profile hills or Sealed Building structures. Where this is applicable, the buildings used are designed to remain accessible to Vehicles & Monsters using our terrain rules outlined above, so as to not give an unfair advantage to Infantry.
- Do not move the terrain or objectives unless they have been knocked out of position or you are playing a mission that requires you to move objectives.
Match ups in the event will be determined by a Swiss Pairings style system through our Tabletop Tactics mobile Application.
This system will pair players of the closest matching points against each other, to allow for the fairest matchups throughout the course of the event.
Our system will also aim to place paired players on a table Deployment Map they have not yet played on, allowing tactical and aesthetic variety.
Open League Games Days are a way to find new opponents to play in the League via an organised event. As these events are not tournaments, the games played count as your ‘at home’ games. This will help you increase your overall League Ranking score in a casual and fun manner, while also making new friends.
In order to determine the overall League Rankings at the end of the event, the following format is used:
- Open League Games Days matches count as your ‘at home’ games and therefor do not award cumulative wins in a row bonus points. For example, if a Player wins their first game, they will be awarded +100 Victory Points. If they win their second game, they will be also be awarded +100 Victory Points, rather than a tournament cumulative +200 Victory Points.
- In the first round, each Player faces 1 randomly drawn Player.
- After the first round, players will be allocated their bonus Victory Points and Rankings will be made based on the highest to lowest scores.
- Subsequent rounds will pair Players with the closest matching Victory Points and Ranking against each other in the ‘swiss pairing’ format to create better tactical matches.
- Once every player has submitted their scores for the last game of the event, Bonus Points will be calculated and the final standings will be published on the Event and League Leaderboards.
Games at our events are to be played with a spirit of friendly competition. We would expect players to conduct themselves with the same grace and decorum that we display in the shows we produce.
Try to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. You and your opponent are here to have a fun game. Try to celebrate your opponent’s victories and commiserate their bad luck.
As war games often have a myriad of rules interactions that can create unclear situations, we appreciate it can sometimes be hard to come to a decision on a ruling.
We have the following points in place to help you in situations that can’t be resolved between you and your opponent:
- If you can’t agree on a rule interaction with an opponent, you may call a member of the crew to make a ruling on it.
- Crew member rulings are final. Where an obscure rule can’t be clarified, Crew Members will use a ‘Judgement’ Dice to determine which player is favoured. A result of 1-3 favouring ‘Player A’ or a 4-6 favouring ‘Player B’.
- Instances of intentional cheating, such as the use of loaded dice, verbal abuse or other nefarious acts will not be tolerated. Such offenders will have their games scored to zero and be evicted from the venue.
