Great start to the league, guys! I just came around to watch it and really enjoyed it. 🙂
@Chef: As far as I understand it you can bring back models that were lost during morale with the orb, because a fled model is counted as being destroyed and the orb talks about destroyed models.

Played a 1k tournament today with Necrons and played Druhkari in the last round. I think Chef hit it on the nose when he mentioned if Necrons can survive turn 3 or 4 with a couple key units, they really can make a push in the final rounds (which is what happened in our game when he bounced off my warrior blob in combat). I still lost (by 2 points), but man it was such a close and fun game. Thanks for the game as always! ♥️

@Chef – Imagine if you had a Tomb Spyder or two floating around to regen the Scarab bases! Not sure if you guys just don’t have the models, but I’ve yet to see them on the channel with the new Necrons, don’t sleep on these guys! They’re a top unit choice and very aggressively costed for what they can do. Especially if you can buff them up with the Cryptek Tech thingy that gives them extra attacks. Strong in combat with damage 2 and high strength, & they also put out 12 shots which is great for clearing things like… Read more »

When you show the contenders, you should have their height, weight, and “martial style”

@Chef, have you considered Triarch Stalkers vs Raiders. Decent choice of weapons to use and Quantam Shielding to ruin Darklight’s dreams.

Thankyou guys for delivering exactly what you promised. All in all I think this will add a real positive dimension for the future looking forward to more reports. You have my continuing support for the channel and I wish you lads all the best for the future. Stay safe.

What a fantastic opening to the league. I can’t wait for other matches! Really enjoy watching tactical players and strong lists battler it out. I don’t know the points but I think the silent king is a better option to the void dragon but the list is otherwise great, but the drukhari list is so thematic, fast and hits like a wrecking ball. It would probably make it too big, but could all players play all factions, maybe limit the number of space marine factions used.

not an important point but the league table matches played total is stuck at 53 (all games) but the total number of games is much higher than that. Like i said, not the most important point, just thought you would like to know.

Good to see the league starting and I look forward to more games in the future. The game itself was good, obviously Drukhari are very strong but I’m happy to see Lawrence avoiding some of the more OP stuff like Dark Technomancers. As for the Necrons I know you guys are limited by the models you have but there’s been some vehicle heavy lists doing well in the competitive scene right now that might be cool to see tested out

Did I detect juuuuust a little extra spice in that batrep? That’s the way it should be in a competitive setting!

Great stuff guys, long live the league.

Quick suggestion… can we have the updated league table at the end of the report, maybe just ahead of the credits? It’s going to be the first thing most of us are going to check 🙂

Man I could feel the frustration for chef. Sometimes it seems like all the bad rolls go to you abs missing that last roll for the ctan t1 was the final nail

I was wondering: did Chef consider Purge the Vermin instead of Engage on All Fronts? I feel like it works so much better with Necrons as they are a short ranged army hence they can only counter attack most of the time, rather than storm all the board quadrants. Wouldn’t have made much of a difference in this match, but still something to keep in mind, IMHO. Ancient Machineries can also be good in some missions, especially if the new lost includes Cryptothralls

This has made me even more pumped for the league ! great job guys. Chef have you considered in your stats taking into account the secondaries used ? perhaps which ones/combos go with wins / armies / losses even ?

Well played Lawrence, the only little thing is you rerolled damage for a blaster I think, whilst still onboard a raider, which you obviously can’t do. Good game though, looked like it could have gone either way at one point

Awesome report, this will be my favorite format next to crusade :-)!
@chef: As Necrons are my main tournament army: Will we see a hexmark destroyer in your lists? I get laughed at, constantly, for fielding the hexmark in competitive games. However, I had great success with it as a nuisance / utility unit when taken with the gauntlet relic.

Thank you for the game chaps! I really like the idea of the league and look forward for some more. Could you add a table of the changing points after the report so we could see how much points the winner takes from the defeated? Chef have you considered heavy destroyers for antitank? A friend of mine runs usually two squads of three and they are really frightening with those 3d3 dmg per shot. Yes it’s only one shot per destroyer but if you don’t have an invuln the AP4 (or 5?) goes right through. They usually drop a tank… Read more »

Stunning game. I had my hopes up for my Necron Boys when the Lychguard locked shields. Could have been an epic comeback.

A little suggestion. Is it possible, or is it allready planned, to show the change in ratings after the games? Like Chef lost this amount of points and Lawrence gained that amount?

So does the overlord ability still reroll all ones? In the codex it says “reroll *a* hit roll of one” but is that a misprint? Would love to know as a fellow, confused Drukhari player lol. Loved the video, such a fun matchup to watch 😁

Spider and Chef; thank you so much for all the little tidbits and coaching. No matter the outcomes of games, you always reinforce good gameplay and sportmanship. Keep up the great work! I know there may be comments about OP armies etc., but in a tournament setting (this being a league), it is what it is; you bring what will win; you do nothing wrong. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to Stig bringing his Admech (and breacher/prime hermeticon/data hoard spam).

OK I admit it, I wasn’t sure the league was for me (I’m still hoping for more Crusade) but I’m definitely hooked and can’t wait for more.

Question for Lawrence: Would you consider letting Chef borrow the Drukhari and taking your Flesh Tearers against them? That is a match I would really like to see.

The big thing I think this highlights for me is that necrons are gonna start suffering from being the first codex. They got their stuff and it’s just going to be out done now by all the new books. So bar some points changes and the occasional supplement it will get harder for them

Loooved it! You guys did great, killing it as always

Scott Engel

Predictable outcome. Even if the necrons didn’t get completely obliterated in 1 turn by the close combat of the drukhari, they wouldn’t have been able to collect any victory points due to getting locked down by the speed of the army and just having the raiders charge into units and completely shut down the necron shooting. I still think necrons are way over costed for a gimmick that just does not do enough to justify how many points you pay for their units. the complete lack of anti-tank just feels like GW phoned it in on the necron codex and… Read more »

I just wanted to say 1st off that i love your battle reports. You were the only channel that i have ever considered subscribing to. However I just wanted to say a few things 1) Dark Eldar are broken. They are basically pre iron hands nerf broken from 8th. Deathguard are strong but when they dropped they were just very anti-meta but (other than mortarion) most codex’s could build lists that can deal with them. DE are just far to strong and it will be a shame that the only way to fix them is with a points hike. The… Read more »

i dont have the codex in front of me, just working off battlescribe so i could totally be wrong- Could the Spider have used splintered genius to fight again? The language of it, on BS at least, is that you can fight again if you are in engagement range of an enemy at the end of the phase. I think that Chef had pulled himself out of engagement range, and the way its worded i dont think the Spider could have piled in on his 2nd fight. Im happy to be wrong, if im missing something! Great game guys, love… Read more »

I wonder Spyder would you be interested in doing 3 lists that are pure kabalite, pure Wych and pure Coven lists and see how they get on like a league within a league.
I know you don’t have the wracks but you could do something close to a coven army.
Also Chef you could try the Doomstalkers? maybe?

Love the League, more league games please, the competitive aspect makes it awesome!
Those Drukhari sure do slap! The only thing I can think of that might be a kind of necron counter is; Every warrior you can find, buffed by Chrono’s, Ghost Arks and a truck load of Scarabs. I’d also like to see what annihilation barges can do there 10 shots at strength 7 might be good.

Excellent game to both of you!!! And well played Chef especially, doing everything possible against a clearly broken Codex. They need a serious points increase, as it’s way too easy to spam all that firepower, and then when you finally crack some of their armour open with whatever you have left, their Melee units mince the crap out of you!!! If they made it so Drukkari players got 10/15% less units per 2K list, that might balance things!!!

Such a shame for the game and so annoying!!!

I, for one, love the dice trays. Seeing both the rolls and the battlefield makes for better viewing experience for me, its easier to keep track of the game. Walls just need to be slightly higher, that’s it.

I really like the progression from tactica to league games!
What i do not like is the level of redundancy in the dark eldar list(s) – an yes i know its a league game.
I skip often the dark eldar shooting phase because of that(also in other games/battlereports with big redundancy ). Not really criticising- just feedback.

As an unintended side effect these games also give you an idea of what not to bring to friendly games to an extent.

Hey there Mr. Chef! I have a couple hyper logical necron thoughts I’d like to send your way after watching this batrep… As of right now, have you tried a batrep running a more “silver-tide” style list? I almost always run 2 20-man blobs off warriors with reapers (I know the studio does have that many though) and always bring Szeras… His being able to use rites of reanimation twice (or 3 times with the one stratagem) just comes in handy so much, especially in combination with augmenting units… And although a bit unreliable, he is often another source of… Read more »
