What the heck, no special weapons squads, no veteran squads for generic guard, only one sniper rifle per command squad. You have to run special units such as tempestus or cadian units, Kasrkin for special weapons. Only ratlings can be sniper squads. I have a foot/artillery guard army. Its not “competitive” but fluffy. I dont want a tank army like every other. As much as they have given the guard, how about giving units that let you mold the list to different ideas, play styles, etc. As strong as this codex is, its a big miss for me as far… Read more »

Yes I’m happy for new codex for next 6 months before 10th edition hits lol 😂 so I’ll enjoy the powerful codex for a bit as waiting for five years for it lol 😂 thanks for the video 🙂

Leonidas looks like a guard model. Literally look at any artwork. He’s the big dog so he should look like he’s the big dog. Supposed to be inspiring and commanding and I don’t know if he would look like that if he was in some dirty fatigues and had a hat

Great video guys, wow there’s a lot going on. I’ve been a Guard player for over 19 years. It’s fantastic to see the first love get a much needed boost. Also as always the case with some armies, Guard can be tough to use correctly so that offsets a wee bit. Glad the big guns finally got a boost!

As a guy with 5k pts of Scions this book feels real bad from my point of view lol. Any idea if it is possible to give orders to units arriving via deepstrike or is that just a no go?

Great video guys. So pleased to be watching it, as a long suffering guard player it’s nice to be able to actually believe I might win a game now lol and I know you say orders make it a bit op but they are still guard and they will still die to a strong breeze, orders are no use if everyone you want to order is dead lol.

Great stuff, folks. Seems to fit perfect with Movember, given the long association of the mustache with the British military. 🙂

So my thoughts after watching this – How long before people start saying it’s broken and needs adjusting? I personally don’t mind so much, so long as it’s all looked at objectively and balanced accordingly. As I am unlikely to make a tournament within the next 4 or 5 months I don’t think I will see op lists and if I do, sucks to be me 😁

I feel like old codexes were written with a weakness in mind – Marines went down to high AP, Nids had super weak armor etc. But now it seems books are written to overcome that weakness – AoC for Marines, Nids can have inv saves etc, now tanks can have inv & MW saves…
Its ok to have a weakness in your army if you are stong doing other stuff!
That said, excited for the book and a great review as always!

Thanks for the awesome video as always! As a casual player I am very concerned that it is going to be difficult to have a fun game vs some of this guard stuff. My mate has a full armoured company and at 1500 will be able to take a tank commander, 5 leman russ and a baneblade. I know they have lost AoC but the damage output is really good and it’s strats like -1 damage vs close combat, bouncing tank orders, picking the 6s to hit auto wound rule which just tip them over the edge. We shall have… Read more »

Completely agree on the whole “Lasgun AP 1 better than a Bolter thing.” I get the order but fluff-wise is just…weird. 🤣

Has Chef any interest in continuing the guides for the new codexes? They were really useful for getting a flavour of the armies, even if you’re not planning on playing them, but there’s not been one for Daemons or Votann yet.

So GW gives Demons ability to deep strike closer and then nerf if with Guard doctrine. Lol classic!

*listens to the stats on the new weapons for the Leman Russ, then looks at the weapon stats for my Doomstalker and Doomsday Ark* Boy I love having all these star-fueled “super weapons”. Hopefully 10th edition is kinder to the skelly bois

Man, I hate when GW does faction specific stuff like “only IG turrets do this” instead of having all turrets work that way.

you cant deny objectives with it as you meassure from the center of the mark but thats not the case for the objectove marker meaning you have 0,5 inch to still hold onto that marker without being hit. Think people will take one and chose from the other options

I like the low points of troops, makes them feel more like disposable guard. Hopefully they just tweak the broken combos
