This was incredible! The narration style made it feel like I was reading one of my old white dwarfs again.

This is my fave edition. I just think it had a lot more fun and creativity. It was really immersive. I miss misfires etc. And who doesn’t love a vortex grenade.

Also the table and jungle setting is so cool
For this.

Would love more 2nd edition batreps, think I’d prefer the normal batrep style though it feels like you’re there with it rather than just getting a recap

Very fun guys, really enjoyed the show haha. A very different but fun form of immersion. More in response to some other comments, I personally wouldn’t want a whole series like this as I love everything about your normal bat reps, like you honestly have them perfect imo, and I look forward to your normal style for a second edition game (also my original edition of warhammer 😁), that immersion as if I’m playing the actual game with you is what I love the most, but this is definitely fun for a once in a while, a fun story telling… Read more »

Even tho 9th broke me and I haven’t played or watched a game ever since, this was awesome to watch. You guys keep finding new way to keep me loving this Hobby (the Podcast is my fav by far👌)! Awesome job as usual!

This was a good watch. Old school Tyranids (damn those warriors looked different :D), cool scenario and as an alternative for the regular longer video’s, this shorter talk-you-through-the-turn format was welcome. Nice job Ed

Great fun, really took me back to my earliest 40k days! I’m 43, started when I was 10 in 1990. Christ I feel old putting that in writing 😂

I love the narrative battle report! started in 9th, but I enjoy so much seeing the heritage of the game!

This is absolutely amazing!!!
Seeing some of the dice rolls live would make it better in my honest opinion! Other than that it’s amazing!!! Please do more 2nd edition!

Oh that was so much fun – flashback to my old school Blood Angels army I sold when I was 14…. Nickname idea ‘ The Archivist’

I liked everything about this except for the summary style. I’m guessing you wanted to narrate it like the old white dwarfs did but would have preferred to have seen the game played with all the second edition game mechanics. It feels a bit like watching a trailer as opposed to the whole film.

Amazing! Been following Ed over on his Minisodes channel and thought his work was outstanding. So glad to see him working with the TT crew now.

Love the “old school” narrative battle report. I feel like this is the best version of what wargaming should be. A dice driven story that unfolds on the tabletop that leans more on the narrative and less on point driven objectives. Great job, guys!

While I prefer your normal battle report style by some margin, I see that others here prefer this. That’s the trouble with trying something new 🙂

What a glorious dose of nostalgia! This brings back so many amazing memories of artwork and stories in White Dwarf about Space Marines storming weird tyranid space craft. Those concepts blew my tiny teenage brain and were burned in for ever!
Love the 2nd edition action. Ed and Spider are a great combo. Thanks guys 👍

Awesome WD style battle report. Serious nostalgia. Loved it. As I approach 50 it was nice to feel like a teenager once again.
How did that lone Marine survive? Truly the Emperor is a Dice God.

This is great. Really love the White Dwarf style, and the nostalgic feel I get from the models is great. I still have some of those marines, well my daughter has used them to practice painting, maybe I need to strip them and paint them properly. Would like to see this style battle report again. Thanks

Genuinely think Ed is great (and all of yinz!) so say this with nothing but love in my heart. But after seeing him and Jinx standing next to each other last time, how about Lurch (or The Lurch) for a nickname?

Fantastic content! Loving the format and style, the purple prose narration, the synthwavey music, and the game itself! Truly great work.

Guys gotta say this is awesome! 2nd edition wasn’t my edition 4th was the battle for Macragge boxset I loved it but to see these old schools i’ve seen over the many years of white dwarf to them actually in play and narrated in such an epic way. This is great awesome can’t wait for more!

Brilliant battle report. Trying really hard not to go searching for 2nd ed Tyranids on eBay right now!
As for a nickname, that jawline means it really has to be Max Edroom.

I have never really played 40k, but I started painting hunks of metal for my collection back in the day, and I still Absolutely love painting and collecting the old stuff. It’s even cooler to see them on the tabletop. So cool guys, thank you so much

Thanks for this something special!
And what about “The Adept” as the nickname? As someone, who will bring those knowledge about those old editions and those restoration skills, it seems appropriate.

I’m 10 years old again! Amazing stuff guys and Ed is a great addition to the team, feels like he has always been there.

Would love to see a “regular” battle report with 2nd ed rules.

Never played 2nd edition, as I started in 4th, but oh boy, this style of report, table and miniatures did brought some wonderful memories back.

Absolutely love the old school paintjobs, awkward heavy weapon poses and paper banners on the Blood Angels. Takes me back to my 1996 purchase of the big 2nd edition box with those self same awkward marines and monopose Orks and Gretchin.

This hits me right in the feels. I missed smaller, much more nuanced games so much. I was in my early 20s when 2nd Edition dropped way back in the early 90s. I cant even begin to think how magical it must be for you all to do second edition batreps, because you were children when this came out. Thank you very much for making and sharing this content.

This was a blast – id be really interested in hearing Lawrence and the rest of the crews thoughts on what it was like going back to an older version. Perhaps it could be one of the podcast topics 🙂
