This was just superb! Thank you!
This is awesome. Thank you guys for bringing this to us.
What an unreal video. Every aspect was amazing.
I was about seven (1988)when I picked up my first book given to me by my teacher to see if it could get me to start reading as having adhd and dyslexia ( no knew at the time as it didn’t exist) I found it difficult, they where a god send !!
Then got it warhammer the following year and eventually Warhammer 40,000 and never looked back.
It’s always so fascinating, across all endeavours, to hear from these people are occupy, or in some cases architect, a point in time
What a great interview and great interviewee. Sir Ian Livingstone is a hero in many different ways, and I’ve always been fascinated by the man. Wish you asked him one question though: “should he buy Games Workshop?” Let him decide whether you mean miniatures to play or the actual company itself 😉
Amazing stuff, loved this
Amazing! What a guy!
Great interview! What a lovely guy who obviously knows his stuff and has had the strength and confidence of his convictions to make a massive impact on our lives!
What an incredible interview! I loved hearing about the history and loved hearing about his legendary gaming group as well towards the end. Thank you for this.
That was brilliant, will forever be a legacy episode!
Very mesmerising to listen too. Amazing the risk he took to get gw off the ground. his board game evening are problem awesome with him Steve Jackson and Peter moloneyx.
Wasn’t expecting something as traditional as that but couldn’t stop watching it, even though I need to go to sleep…
Could listen to that guy forever-so articulate, calm, collected and insightful.
Very well timed questions and observations. Great flow.
Just hugely enjoyable content all round, thank you.
That was brill, I love these types of interviews. Really interesting to hear the stories and behind the scenes things, would be great to see more of these interviews even if it was only like one every couple of months as a special.
This was such a pleasure to listen to. I hope you guys are able to do more of it. I will admit when you guys began to expand your content outside of 40K I had a slight bit of apprehension that maybe I wouldn’t find the same level of enjoyment. Man, was I wrong. Between Chronicles of Valtor, the podcasts and the other avenues of content y’all have been creating I’ve been happy as a very happy clam with everything you guys have put out. Tabletop Tactics has been such a boon to my mental health. One day I hope… Read more »
This interview was thoroughly enjoyable. I love your regular content, but this was a great change of pace and really well executed.
Wow. Great interview. Legendary guest.
I didnt know he was behind warlock of fire top mountain. My aunty and me used to go through the book when I was a kid. So probably late 80s I would have been 8 or 9 maybe. What a great interview.
The man’s a legend ! I grew up playing fighting fantasy and still have many of them on my shelf. What an amazing experience that must have been.
That was brilliant, like a lot of nerds growing up in the 80’s the fighting fantasy books were a big part of my childhood. I owned the first 50 books as well as the bestiary (the brilliantly titled Out of the pit) and the world building book Titan.
I think those old books have been lost to time and many house moves but I’d love to find them again.
And of course I now absolutely have to buy Dice Men and Magic Realms, so long wages!
Deathtrap Dungeon was definitely my intro to the world and my love for that is likely what drew me to Heroquest 4-5 years later and then Advanced Heroquest and then warhammer fantasy. Hook, line and sinker!
What a super interview and I don’t just mean Sir Ian talking. The questions and flow of the conversation was excellently out together. It comes across as a great chat but I don’t doubt it was well planned out in advance.
I’ve never read a figting fantasy book befor now after watching this I’ve only gone and got thr first 5 books can’t wait woo what a legend 👏 🙌
Brilliant, this was a great surprise to see. Thoroughly enjoyed the roots and going back to my childhood too with the fighting fantasy books.
Honestly.. he’s just one of those people that you could set up by a fire and listen to for hours and hours. Wonderful interview, and what a privilege.
Well done, folks! Must have been an amazing experience
What a privilege to be able to interview and listen to Sir Ian Livingstone, thanks for making this happen. I’d definitely be on board with more interviews like this, bravo!
You can really see the passion in everything he does! I guess its kinda necessary to take some of the risks that they faced early on. It’s really refreshing to hear the story of someone truly forging their own path, deciding what they want to do and doing it. It must such an amazing feeling to have so many people enjoying something you created. To think that those humble beginnings lead to products and companies as massive as they are now. It’s nice to hear that whilst it was developing there was a strong focus on enjoyment, being creative and… Read more »
Mission complete gentlemen. Just bought my 6 year old 2 of ians books for us to do together. Great interview, always nice to hear the interviewers just let the guest tell their story, seems rare these days.
Love this kind of content! Big fan of Filmdeg and Jordan sorcerys channels. Would be epic if you could get some GW legend over to play a game!
Fantastic interview and what a trip down memory lane!! Sir Ian is an absolute legend, how I would love to take part in one of his game sessions! (Maybe Tabletop Tactics too, but you’re not quite up their with Ian, Steve and Peter yet… 😉 )
That was really interesting. Looks like I’ve got some books to buy now.
What an interesting interview, that was a real treat!
I knew a lot of the humble beginnings of GW but it was nice hearing it from Sir Ian himself.
I also had no idea about the Fighting Fantasy books! I vaguely remember seeing them when I was a kid but never really got into them but I think I’d have a field day if I picked one up now.
Why isn’t it here
