Warhammer 40k is full of dangers that could destroy all existence in a matter of seconds – with some factions vying for control or survival and some fixated on all out destruction, who – when all is said and done would actually destroy the 40k Universe?

Hey guys, just a small lore hint about the Tyranids in the HH. In the epilog of “Phraos” there is a brief and very obscure mention of a devourer/hunter in the dark abyss of the void, which stirrs because of what happend in this book.

If the emperor leaves the throne, Vulcans fail safe goes off and destroys the earth.

The guys didn’t discuss the Golden Throne is failing

I have seen the future, and it is the Administratum that brings down the Imperium.

I like the idea that both the Emperor and creator of the Tyranids are Old Gods. Both with the goal of defeating all the other gods and the leader of the Tyranids is looking for the Emperor because that’s the last big threat. Tyranids have already wiped chaos from other galaxies and don’t care about them. They’re just looking for the other Old Gods to devour

I’ve always thought it would be down to Necrons vs Tyranids in an apocalyptic endtimes scenario. The Necrons are not made from biomass and have the ability to go into stasis and repair themselves, making them perfectly adpated to attrition warfare and covert operations. The tyranids can probably defeat all other factions eventually (although what happens between the imperium and chaos is always a wildcard) but Necrons might win over in the end purely based on the Tyranids running out of biomass to sustain themselves. I don’t think Necrons will ever come back to organic forms from biotransference – that… Read more »

It would be really interesting to see Space Wolves fall to Chaos and then somehow the thousand sons are cured and turn loyal. Then you could do the burning of Fenris.

Where my Boyz the Orks at? My fun take would be kryptmans experiment really takes off, and the kids and Orks thrive of eachother. Both species are designed to breed, adapt and over come in war. The krorks return and then you end up with a Pacific rim style game where Ork super gargants piloted by krorks fight nid bio titans. My wholesome story ark completion is siege of terra 2 electric boogaloo ending with the emperor being “killed” chaos “wins” only to find the emperor is now free to ascend to god hood or reincarnated as he sees fit.… Read more »

Bard you’ve opened a can of nurglings here. So much to comment on and unpack. Imho, 40k end times as follows: The unstoppable tyranids are getting close enough you can feel the true might of the hive mind. The mysterious structure, their own version of a golden throne and the great devourer must be born as a supreme being. The Tyranids evolutionary birthing of their own bigE. Meanwhile the seige of Terra2 happens. All of Chaos is unleashed in force upon the fractured imperium, 8 prongs, daemon and heretic alike. Imperial forces find a way to gather and deploy their… Read more »

Tyranids are my least favorite Faction. I wish their faction would get their asses kicked. Demolished. That’s just me.

I can’t reply to my own comment currently I think I bugged the app with the length of the message… at least I did on my phone when posting it. My bad.

Anyway, I don’t think a single faction is going to destroy everything or win.

I think a single character is going to. And I personally believe the most likely way for it to happen, the Celestial Orrery. The Necrons super real time, star snuffing map.

Some lunatic is going to get in and either just start messing things up, or the power will go to their head.

Alright, so this is gonna be a long one and I’m using text to speech so there maybe typos. So strap in and let’s go. Abbadon is one option but he’s unlikely to be able to unite all of the required forces to take down Terra and trying to get the golden throne, though it would be cool. He does have the black Legion but trying to get the traitor legions to work together, even to the point of taking down the Emperor will be difficult. They serve their own agendas far too much. It’s not beyond the realms of… Read more »

I could see a siege of terra II with Abby doing the smash. But this also means that my favorites will be there. Fuegan and his Phoenix pals for the destruction of chaos (and themselves) for the Rhana Dandra, after chaos thought they won over mankind and big E.

I always liked the theory that characters like Abaddon or Cypher are being subtly guided by the Emperor to kill him so he can final regenerate and take his proper form as a god in the warp. There’s something wonderfully poetic about the Imperium firing thousands of lives at the throne to keep the Emperor “alive”, when in reality the best thing that could happen would be for him to properly die so he can regenerate. I think there’s an inevitability to the Tyranids consuming the galaxy, but I love the idea that when all the dust settles, it’s just… Read more »

How does it all end?

Easy.

Vashtorr infiltrates the Golden Palace and bops Big E on the head with Vashtorr’s Hammer.

Vashtorr becomes the new Emperor and the Golden Throne becomes Vashtorr’s Comfy Chair.

Job done!

I’m really interested in getting up to date in the lore, but I find myself struggling where best to source where to look. Any advice welcome. Great content team. Keep it coming.

Is there also not a fan theory that the Tyranids are actually on the run from something worse than them? Like something messed them enough that they had to leave their own galaxy?

I saw a fun theory once about switching a loyalist primarch to Chaos. When Vulkan returns after death, he usually ends up with amnesia for a bit as he recovers himself. And as a Perpetual, he’s the only Primarch that could hold the full power of Chaos without dying. Therefore, the best way for Chaos to win is to find and corrupt Vulkan before the Salamanders get him back!

I ask to someone who knows lore better than me. But why is it that Abaddon is the “Prime minister of chaos”? Is it because he is undivided? But isn’t Lorgar undivided too? And doesn’t he want everyone to see the truth that is chaos? Couldn’t he be the next true bad since even Guilliman fear the word bearers for they preach chaos to other and that makes chaos grow and becomes a bigger threat? Why Abaddon and not Lorgar to be the new Prime Minister of chaos? Surely 13 failed crusades can’t look good in the eyes of chaos… Read more »

I always liked to think that the tyranids are coming for the galaxy because they already finished off and stripped their home galaxy.

So the danger isn’t that they have a goal or plan for the galaxy, but that they don’t. They are starving, desperate, and our galaxy is their only hope to stave off extinction. But if they succeed in consuming it all they are back in the same boat as before with no food and nowhere to go (unless some third galaxy sets off a beacon that catches their eye)

Great video!
I think the nids were first awoken to the galaxy by a Necron structure that acted as a second astronomicon in Guillimans second Imperium during the Heresy. The tower was plowed to deny it to the night Lords and the blast wave woke up the Great Devourer. Was in a Heresy series novel.
Loved all the theories. 😁

A siege of Terra 2 would be cool but what would also be my better end times would be after a millennia of fighting slpwly all the factions consumed by the tyranids. Necrons go back to sleep again, eldar and drukkari escape to the webway, Orcs get to enjoy the best fight of thier lives until the end, Tau invent high tech traval that allows them to flee our galaxy. The imperium is slowly forced back and at the end all the returned primarchs, loyalist and traitor, are forced to defend Terra against the full force of the overwhelming true… Read more »

My theory on the tyranids is they are the last creations of the old ones, and the hive mind is the fusion of the last surviving old ones that escaped the necrons.

If Chaos destroys the Imperium and kills the Emperor, the Alpha Legion win. With Humanity gone, Chaos will burn itself out with in-fighting and the lack of worshipers, exactly as Alpharius wished it to happen. Only at the end, it will be Omegon triumphant since Dorn decapitated Alpharius.

Chaos will never unite to the point where it can threaten terra again, last time the 10,000 were ruined before the siege fighting the war in the webway, this time 10,000 custodes would slaughter anything that made planet fall. Of the zenos races only 3 can actually threaten humanity. 1. The orks, who again will never achieve this due to infighting and the inability to plan for the long term. 2. The crons who if they wake up in time are the most powerful force in the Milky Way galaxy (see the way against the old ones where they dominated… Read more »

I love the idea of Big E here. I’m fully behind that one! I always saw the end being all that’s left is Necrons, Tyranids and Orks. Necrons can’t be eaten by Tyranids, Tyranids just keep refreshing as long as there is some biomass, and Orks infest everywhere they go cos of the spores.

My End Times prediction is largely based on what I hope Dan Abnett will do as he ends the Bequin/Eisenhorn/Ravenor series in the final Bequin Novel – Pandemonium. I don’t want to spoil anything but the last line of “Penitent” put the whole future of the 40k galaxy as we know it into doubt for me!

Cegorach’s final jest. He bio-transfers the necrons consciousness into the tyranids via the tiamat megastructure. In the ensuing chaos, all the elves disappear into the webway safe from She Who Thirsts.

Katie is kind or right. to summarise, The necrontyr had very short lives, they discovered the old with thier immortality and they begged them for help but were deigned. This lead to a war between the old ones and necrontyr that they were hopelessly losing until they discovered the C’tan munching on a sun who decided to helped them. The Old ones then created several races to fight for them such as the Eldar, Orks, Jokaero and possibly humans. This push back made the necrontyr desperate and accepted the C’tans offer of immortality by bio-furnace. What this actually did was turn flesh… Read more »
