A whole new edition of the Horus Heresy is here we sit down to discuss how we, as 40k players, might get started with this new edition of 30k and we have invited Captain Pardo from SN battle reports to help guide us through this age of Darkness! Its not the game for me but happy to see people excited about new editions.
Love Pardo, love SN….. you guys got me thinking about a blood angel heresy army.
I am interested in Heresy, but I am still so new to 40K I am going to stick to that for now
Ladies and Genitalmen: Space Marine The Game. Yawn. Legions vs Legions vs Mechanicus vs Solar Aux…no flavor really. Sorry not my thing, if they added these rules to 40k! Sold!, but since they want 40k streamlined for tournys, that will never happen. This game is getting further and further from the game i fell in love with 30 years ago. Its sad, so i house rules 2nd thru 4th ed. And use new models. Its bliss.
Playing both 40k and 30k, my only sadness is that I can’t play xenos factions that were present in the HH, such as Eldar and Dark Eldar and Orks.
I’m still cautiously optimistic HH will land here on the channel. I could use the change of pace. 40K’s cool, but I love the look of Heresy rules.
Love painting, way prefer fun / narrative games and have been waiting for you guys to explain Heresy to me for ages so this is fantastic!
I play Iron Hands in Heresy, but I’m happy with 2nd edition and don’t anticipate upgrading any time soon. Nothing against 3rd edition, but my current games aren’t broke, so not fixing.
Great conversion! Love the Heresy chat, and I agree with Pardo it would be perfect for you guys with the narrative flavor and list building intricacies!

I feel bad for Pardo, he modified his minis to use them and GW just released an article saying he could have used them as they were
Cool to see y’all dip into Heresy! Excited to see the battle reports and the armies. I’ve been chipping away at an Alpha Legion army myself, both building and painting. I’m in agreement that the loss of flavor for some units and legions is disappointing, especially with some of the kitbashing ideas I had for units like Veteran squads. At the same time, like Pardo says, Heresy is about the hobbying and the patience – making it how *you* want. I think the flavor will eventually come back, and that patience will pay off. Most Warhammer new editions sell out same day (or in 10 minutes for some boxes) its 5 days post pre-order date and the 3rd edition boxes are still available. Speaks Volumes. My Local Games store sold out of all 2nd ed rulebooks this week. GWs decisions on the changes in 3rd with respect to conversions and loadouts are problematic and honestly dont bode well for the game.
The one redeeming feature is that I suspect a bunch of scalpers are now out of pocket…:)
As a long term 30k player who loves your battle report, can’t wait to see you guys tackle Heresy. And maybe (maybe) we’ll get to see the Bard at some 30k event in the future?
oddly I have been looking at 3.0 after 40k made all my sicarans, leviathans, and contemptor dreadnoughts obsolete after 9th was released? (might have been 10th but either way they are gone) So for me the logical step was to just get a few characters and marines and add all the armour to it and see how it feels. Im joining beard and playing iron warriors cant wait for the bat rep!
