In this episode we discuss the possibility of a Lost & The Damned Codex coming to 40k. With the release of books like Codex Imperial Agents and the reveal of the Traitor Guard symbol at the end of the recent Iron Warriors teaser video, we look at what an army of Traitor Guard might actually look like in 40k. An army that hasn’t truly been seen since Codex Eye of Terror in 3rd Edition!

I run a traitor guard army! I basically just use Guard pieces lightly converted and ran them in the chaos cultist detachment (I once wrote up a battle report featuring them – and I have a whole hobbyist site for stories featuring them). Definitely it all worked perfectly well, but it required my opponent being very generous with letting me count proxies. Obviously fine at our ultra casual level between friends, but it doesn’t really scale up. I feel like my realistic hope is we get something like the Genestealer Cult detachment situation with a few speciality units to our… Read more »

Seeing traitor guard would be super cool!! Mainly cause out of my friends 3/5 of us play imperium, one being a guard army, so I think it would be a lot more immersive in terms of playing to be able to fight traitors. If they could sprinkle a little bit of traitor sisters in there as well that would be very cool as an elite unit (idk if they exist in lore but they would be awesome if they did)

There is already so many references to Chaos or lost and the dawned vehicles in books and lore that would be cool to see made in plastic. Stalk Tanks, half tracks, local variants of tanks instead of Leman Russ. They already have the makings of a big, bespoke range

Since you are TWW3 enjoyers, I think a good way to look at the differences for what they could do to make Guard different to Traitor Guard, is the Dwarves vs Chaos Dwarves in game, daemons, dark magic, more infernal engines & heavy stuff.

You can do a lost and the damned list now, if you really wanted to. For example: Lost and damned (2000 Points) Chaos Space Marines Chaos Cult Strike Force (2,000 Points) CHARACTERS Cultist Firebrand (65 Points) • 1x Balefire pike • 1x Close combat weapon • Enhancements: Cultist’s Brand Cultist Firebrand (45 Points) • 1x Balefire pike • 1x Close combat weapon Dark Apostle (65 Points) • 1x Dark Apostle • Warlord â—¦ 1x Accursed crozius â—¦ 1x Bolt pistol • 2x Dark Disciple â—¦ 2x Close combat weapon Dark Commune (105 Points) • 1x Cult Demagogue â—¦ 1x Autopistol… Read more »

I think you guys nailed it with needing to make them more melee focused in order to stand out from their Imperial counterparts. A set of Tarelllian Dog Soldiers with shotguns and power claws would make a great elite unit for that army!

Counter argument for not making them a playable faction: adding an entire new army to our collective pile shame is just mean.
