Epic game! Congrats to the Spider and well fought Bard! Love the League, and I hope you start season 3 early in 10th! 🙂

Prime time krumpin, you know how we do it! Well played Spider, you deserved the league victory and it wasn’t close. The Ork list did a lot of the work before the games had begun but it was well designed and not just a meta cut and paste, so fair play. Buzzkill and Monkfish for the win!

I’m keen for Lawrence to play 10th edition Death Guard in the next league ❤

Great explosive conclusion! I like how Lawrence struggles to accept the Orks do well when they are played like Orks – there the target, go get it, strategy planning complete.

A fine job, well done James!

Waaaagh! Congrats Spider! You made da boyz proud. You made the orks work, you came with an army list up of a faction you dont know and blasted to the finals. Love to see more orky content. Best end to 9th in my opinion.

Fantastic season, really enjoyed it. One small request…could you maybe consider not putting who is competing in the semis and final in the video titles? Only because I hadn’t had a chance to see a few of the games throughout the league, I was looking forward to beard vs spider in the semi but the final was out before I could watch it, so there wasn’t much point in going back to it when you already know who progressed through to the final. Apart from that, brilliant as ever. Best warhammer channel around!

Target priority is the key, you have to mortar those grots on turn 1. Mortars are the perfect tool to deal with them.

Great game and a fitting end to a tough league season. I have to disagree strongly with Spider’s assessment though – beating that field with Orks is definitely NOT down to a list that drives itself or we’d see Orks winning all over the place. It might be subconscious but it takes real skill and experience to play a points game with that amount of aggression and actually win! Massive kudos on taking this through – I genuinely think he played it better than he did the Fleshtearers last season.

Dam, those Orks just Krush everything. Its nice to see them win (even tough I routed for the guard) but they are a bit of a no brainer list thanks to the secondaries, Because of the fist turn going to the Orks the game wasn’t a close as againts the Votan, its just so hard to deal with them when they are already point blank in turn 1.
Congrats to the Spider! And Bard place 2 after a wooden spoon is certainly a step up! :p

Massive congratulations Lawrence. You played well every game and deserved the win. I don’t get why you think Bard deserved the win. Your army was definitely a top contender this league, precisely for the reasons you outlied after the game. It was a straight forward plan, executed well. I would prefer a little less saying you think you should lose, only to crush your opponents. It takes away from both your skill and the effort of the opponent (they should win but didn’t, so they must be really unlucky or bad, and Bard wasn’t that unlucky…). How will this be… Read more »

As previously mentioned by others target priority should have been the point scoring grots other than the 2 battle wagons which needed popping to get at said grots. Also maybe strategic reserving a tank or two (some were struggling to see anything to shoot so wouldn’t necessarily miss the firepower for a turn or two) and a guardsman unit to contest the mid board and not getting bottled up in your own DZ. Entertaining watch none the less and congrats to Lawrence. Of course come the next league, whenever that may be, the people will want you to take the… Read more »

I really enjoyed the league this season. Thanks so much for all the great videos! I do have one complaint about this post though: There was only 1 day between posting the 2nd game of the semis and posting the final. That means anyone who wasn’t keeping up every day in watching the matches got an automatic spoiler. The Guard vs Orks image for the finals tells you right away that Beard lost in the semis.
Next time around, would it be possible to post the final without a spoiler image?

Awesome as ever. Love the league and can’t wait to start seeing some 10th edition games.
If you had to guess, what date do you think you’re first game of 10th will be available to watch??? 🤫

for once I called ´something in advance (I think under the Instagram post where Spider on Orks was unannounced). giving the best player on the channel an army with 2 movement phases (well one is called a charge phase) in a game that is won or lost in the movement phase, what could go wrong for everyone else?! 😀 Well played everyone, the league is by far my favorite content you put out (and the main reason I signed up again) so looking forward to season 3

I had a great time watching this season of the League. I don’t think the result can entirely be attributed to GTGB. It definitely put the cherry on top, but Spider did a fantastic job embodying the raw aggression of the Orks, and used some very clever movement strategies to enable it. I learned quite a bit. The power discrepancies between some of the armies was definitely frustrating at times, but here’s to 10th hopefully tightening that up a bit. I can’t wait to see what you folks do with it in the next season. Congratulations, and thanks for the… Read more »

Grats to Lawrence and he’s very humble. The orks are a fine army but this very much came down to play skill and strength of secondaries. Lawrence has been playing a long time and it shows in some of the choices. Nothing against Bard it just takes time and practice to get some things down and I think playing against such a high pressure list really just showed some inexperience. Quite different to go from playing tempest and fluffy lists to playing with secondaries and stronger lists. Lawrence has a ton more experience in that area.

Bards target priority was well off the mark there! Should have taken out the grots with indirect fire in the first round of shooting and denied Spider all of his get the good bits points! Super stoked for an ork victory though! We’re on our way back up the meta ladz!!!! Weeeeeeey! Oh, it’s the end of the edition. 😩

Whilst I doubt you can acknowledge it, with the mention this is probably the last game of 9th, when was the last time fletcher saw day light having to paint all the new models?

This Ork army obviously didn’t require the thinking and planning that the Flesh Tearers did. However, I think Lawrence suffers a little bit from the Dunning-Kruger effect. His tactical movement skill is so high, he doesn’t recognize that his standard form of tactical movement that doesn’t seem difficult to him, is actually excellent movement overall, with few, if any, mistakes.

Chef really gives it to the “no takebacks”, Win At All Cost crowd. There’s some history there. I’d love a new video series “Chef’s Rants” where he can just go off. 🤣

Congrats to the winner, commiserations to the runner-up! Just based on what you said at the end, does this mean there will be no battle of the spoon this season?

hmm James made a comment somewhere saying he made some mistakes against Orks.. and now made the exact same mistakes again 🙂 Pretty much over on turn one i’m afraid, with that target selection and refusing to move out to the field.
Nevertheless, the League is my favourite 40k content int the interwebs, it has been a journey and cant wait to see what you guys have in store for next. Thank you for all the effort and hard work you put into this!

We finally find ourselves at the final!

So spoilers! Spider’s savage sons certainly successfully slay soldiers solidifying chartreuse supremecy!

Bard’s boys bravely blasted belligerent barbarians boldly braving bigger barmy bstrds but be bested by Barker’s battling.

Brilliant league guys! Loved it! When’s the next one? 😛 xxx

Spoiler alert!

Look a shiny thing over there.

Look, heretics!

Commiserations Bard, whilst I was always cheering for the Orcs, I wanted to see the massive come back from Spoon to champ! Could things have been done differently? Maybe? But it’s a dice game and you played fantastically.

Spider, you iz da greenest and meanest. Gork, and/or Mork, smiles on you. You da best warboss, 2nd only to Ghaz! Congrats on your new shiney fing.

I thought Bard would focus fire the grots with the mortars and bring the rough riders in as a back field threat to clean up the unit’s holding objectives. Think it was the same issue as the first time the armies met that the guard essentially got penned in very quickly and so couldn’t compete with point scoring. Great game though really enjoyed it. I think the lesson is you can’t just castle up against this type of Ork army, you really need to utilise flanking moves.

This game went exactly as I thought it would. Well played though and will it be the last of 9th? There’s at least 2 weeks left of it.
