I like the new detachrments each seems very interesting in its own right but as a space wolf player the lack of leader options for the squads always makes the lists a bit plain and although adding a captain is now an option in 1 detachement having to pay 20 points for what other armies get for free feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth to me! 5 terminators 170 PTS the captain to lead them plus enhancement to allow this to happen 115 PTS, that’s an expensive unit for a rather underwhelming punch in my opinion!… Read more »

Like other biased Aeldari players I felt these nerfs were pretty over the top, and show a basic flaw in codex design (that other factions suffer too btw). Not too mention that from what I read, Aeldari win rates have been dropping steadily before this data slate dropped (even below 50%). Let me also mention that I only play beer and pretzels 40k and never attend tourneys but at the same time am on board with balance data slates and letting my tournament brothers have balanced fun. Let me start with saying that overall I think GW has been knocking… Read more »

As a Space Wolves fan to the degree that I always want to refer to them as Vlka Fenryka, I really adore the additional detachment rule here. Especially because it really feels fitting to the Great Wolf and the sort of a force he has been established to be in the setting.

The Guard Detachment doesn’t need to much work, it’s not as if it makes them broken maybe one more “Infantry only” strategem… The aditional armour strat isn’t for the entire shooting phase as stats wich inluence the AP this is already amended, it’s funny they keep the wording thesame but this way they can reverse the ruling I guess?

Thought I’d just add my thoughts on the new harlequin detachment. It looks like fun and is certainly a different way to play them but I actually still prefer the codex detachment. the new detachment rule is a big improvement but the enhancements are poor and I don’t think the new strats are going to be as effective as people seem to think. the scout enhancement realistically relies on you having a non harlys unit in your army to infiltrate and counter enemy screening. Then even if you get first turn you might get a turn 1 charge off but… Read more »

I’m really glad I switched to windrider host. These eldar nerfs are frankly obnoxious. The army was in a really good place and I know I’m biased but I don’t think they really needed nerfing at all. If the statistics at top tournaments disagree with me then I’m sure there were plenty of other tweaks they could have made to set things right. What they’ve done is actually STUPID. Fire dragons were really the only thing holding up aspect and warhost lists and they just hit them with SIX SEPERATE NERFS. The points updates to the rest of the army… Read more »

Aspect Host and Warhost Aeldari got MURDERED 🙁
That’s a triple nerf to Fire Dragons – they’re just going to get murdered every time they pop out. Also most Warhost lists are going to be down a whole unit because of all the small points increases to the core units.
If only Wraiths and Guardians had taken a buff to balance out…

For the wolf scouts there are 4 plasma pistols in the kit plus multiple holstered pistols so I don’t think the plasma pistols are wrong on that unit. There’s just one held bolt pistol.

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the Spiritsliver enhancement and I think that it’s being misinterpreted (I could be wrong but open to challenge, think it needs an FAQ personally)
The way I’ve read it is that “Daemon Prince” is a specific keyword that’s different and independent from “Daemon Prince with wings” – I might be wrong but as written, this enhancement is specifically not able to be taken on the really good prince with wings

Angron – SURGE 2CP – can move through terrain but when doing so takes -2 to movement AND that terrain piece is removed from the board as if it had been obliterated!

Thanks for the review guys! But as a Night Lords guy, sad bat noises 😢🦇 I think the detachment is fun, but not strong at all purely because the battle-shock mechanic isn’t strong. I think they should have gone all in on the Night Lords mentality. Prey on the Weak – In your command phase, each enemy unit within 12″ of a Heretic Astartes unit from your army must make a battle-shock test, subtracting 1 from their leadership characteristic for every Heretic Astartes unit they are in range of. If the test is failed, then units from your army may… Read more »

Given the sales, 50%+ armies your likely to face will be space marines with good leadership scores and whilst (as a night lord player) I appreciate the buffs, its the core Battleshock Mechanic that needed fixing. At a -1 Marines are only going to fail 42% of the time. Personally Id like to see a terror token mechanic, where existing battleshock test inducing effects stack terror tokens and the opponent has to make a battle shock test in their subsequent command phase with a minus based on the number of terror tokens a unit has (success eliminates existing tokens, failure gives… Read more »

I know that I’m not being objective as a guard player, but I’m not sure this new detachment is as crazy as it sounds. Guard isn’t doing that great at tournaments and I don’t think keeping the rerolls on tanks wouldn’t be too much. Maybe limit the stratagems a bit. I say this ’cause a lot of other factions have rules that affect the whole range and guard only really has combined arms (and even that has weird limits concerning regiment and squadron). Its nice to have an option of taking a detachment that allows a diverse type of play.… Read more »

Giving fire dragons no way to get back into the tank is just a mistake and too much
