AoS yayayay
I can’t tell if the editing has gotten even better lately, or if I’m just noticing it more, but that second ominous jump cut to the spawn made me spit coffee all over my work keyboard. Between that and the chonk filter during the Custodes/Chaos Knights game… you folks have been on an absolute rampage of great effects.
because in middle English the word for the animal was cu, but the Middle French word for cow was bœuf. The poor folks took care of the animals and continued to call them cu which eventually became cow, but the French stole the English crown and they spoke Middle French and didn’t really encounter the animal they encountered the meat which they called by the French name and this eventually became the word beef and thus the split between the name of the animal and the name of the meat from the animal.
Also, in 4th ed you have to choose a target for your spells before you cast it as you simply can’t cast a spell without a target, no more of that 3rd ed Fate Point nonsense.
Same goes for pile-in, you have to choose a target.
A little rule correctioning: The unit doesn’t stop burning on a 2, but takes 2 mortal damage. It only stops burning on a 1, and Chef, you quite clearly rolled a 2 the first time you rolled for it.
Also, in Katie’s following turn she used a command point to reroll her charge AFTER she rolled the charge and failed. This is a no-no in 4th ed, as they streamlined both run and charge reroll commands. They both have to be paid for up front. It’s cheeky, I know.
Hi, I’m Commander Shepard and this is my favourite goat on TT.
Wait…
Sigmar! Finally got around to watching it 😅
Love these AoS games! Really interesting to see Tzeencth, I’m tempted by them as a next army, after I’ve painted my Tomb Kings. Thanks guys.
Beef and Pork are used due to the words coming from Norman french I think. Beef/Pork is the Norman word and was used for the food as that was what the important Normans asked for, Pig and Cow is the saxon word for the animal as they were the ones farming them.
The ghOoOoOsts looked amazing. Another great AOS report. keep up the steller work giuys
Awesome game you guys. Thank you for more AoS
Was going to poke my head in to go into linguistic differences for Chef, found 2 people already had.
Keep up the good work, nerds.
More AoS, yes-yes.
The Knight of Shrouds is a regular foot.
He’s a Leg end!!
I love the Tzeetchian army Phil provided. Amazing paint jobs and conversions.
Another awesome AoS battlereport and agreed that Tzeentch really felt fitting to the army. Also while Chef’s growing desperation with his rolling was hilarious at a certain point, I thought that Katie was in trouble already on as she missed a couple of really big rolls there which allowed Chef to assert a better board control.
While I like the Nighthaunts, because their army rule, it feels like their fortunes will be decided in the first couple of turns. Which was touched in the discussion afterwards. Still adore the army and especially Lady Olynder.
Fantastic battlereport. So entertaining.
These demons aren’t quite stinky enough for my tastes but I love seeing sigmar anyways!
Love it
AoS Baaaabbbbyyy!!! That Daemon army is Beeeeaaaauuuuutifuuuullll, paraise be Mega Boss Phil
Not about the game, but on the cow vs beef difference. Effectively it is because they come from different languages. Beef comes from Norman French as the Norman nobility could afford to eat it, whereas cow is from Anglo-Saxon as you had the poor peasants doing the farming looking after them. Same with pigs and pork, chicken was cheap meat so even peasants could have a bit of it so we kept the Anglo-Saxon word for it.
Also…awesome game by the way!
I confess I am a Devotee to the Changer of Ways. Hail Tzeentch!!!
Pork and Beef are called this thanks to the Norman Invasion of 1066.
Due to the change in spoken language in subsequent centuries the the Anglo-Saxon word “pig”became the French “porc”, which was later Anglicised to pork; and the same can be said for beef. The Anglo-Saxon word “cow” became the French “boeuf”, which became beef.
Sorry I’m a bit of an etymology nerd.
I bloody love AoS on Tactics!
Yes!! I love Age of Sigmar! Tzeentchy boys are the army I was next considering, so I’ll be watching this’un with interest 😀
