In order to provide our players with the best experience possible throughout the course of our event, the following format and rules are in place:

  • The event follows the rules of our Warhammer 40,000 Open League 2024 Season including all current GW FAQs and Balance Dataslates.
  • Our 1 day format consists of 3 games of 2000pts played over the course of the day, with 2 hours and 15 minutes allowed for each game.
  • We employ a hard ‘dice down’ rule when a game round’s time has ended. Please do not begin a new game Battle Round with your opponent if you do not believe you can complete it on time.
  • We expect games to be played to completion. In the event of that not being possible, we will accept an equal amount of turns played, providing both players are in agreement.

Army lists may be submitted and changed in our app for this event up to 24 hours before the event start time. Additionally, the following rules are in place:

  • Army Lists are to be presented in a clear to read format, individually breaking down points costs of each unit and any equipment or upgrades they have. Where applicable, abilities chosen before a game begins, such as powers or traits must be written clearly on your list and used throughout the event. We recommend pasting lists from army building apps such as Battlescribe for this purpose. Note: It is your responsibility to check that the points in any army building app used are correct before submission.
  • Legends units are permitted as long as a relevant data slate exists for them from Games Workshop.
  • Allies can be used, as determined by those Armies with rules enabling them. However, only one ally source can be used. For example, an army from the Imperium cannot use both Agents of the Imperium and Imperial Knight allies.
  • We recommend that Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and Deathwatch do notΒ use the Detachments from Codex Space Marines – they should only use their own Index or Codex Detachment. This is to help promote variety in the Space Marine sub-factions rather than different coloured marines with the same rules. Note, this is a recommendation, so you may disregard this ruling if your gaming group prefers the freedom of Detachment choice.

Primary Missions and Mission Rules in this event are drawn randomly from the Warhammer 40,000 Leviathan Mission Deck.

  • Each Primary Mission and Rule set will be drawn in front of all attending players before their next round of play.
  • Once a Primary Mission and Mission Rule is played, it is removed from the remaining pool of available cards.

Our events are designed to create an immersive hobby experience that challenges your generalship across a variety of beautifully painted battlefields.

While we use the Terrain Layouts from the Leviathan Mission Companion as a guide, we also implement our own Keywords on terrain to make the battlefields more immersive and less uniform. For example, we may give a terrain structure the Ruins and Sealed Building Keywords if it is a mix of the two, while also allowing the entire structure to block line of sight. These will be outlined before the event begins and can be clarified by crew when you arrive at your table.

In order to facilitate tables that celebrate the hobby experience, while maintaining balance, the following rules are in effect:

  • Terrain and Objectives are pre-placed on our boards to suit a pre-determined Deployment Map from the Leviathan Mission Pack.
  • Do not move the terrain or objectives unless they have been knocked out of position or you are playing a mission that requires you to move objectives.

Match ups in the event will be determined by a Swiss Pairings style system through our Tabletop Tactics mobile Application.

This system will pair players of the closest matching points against each other, to allow for the fairest matchups throughout the course of the event.

Our system will also aim to place paired players on a table Deployment Map they have not yet played on, allowing tactical and aesthetic variety. Note: As there are currently only 5 Deployment Maps in Warhammer 40,000, while you will be placed on a different table every round, you may be paired over the same Deployment Zone more than once at the event.

In order to determine our event champion and the overall League Rankings at the end of the event, the following format is used:

  • This Tournament awards cumulative wins in a rowΒ bonus points, so if a Player wins their first game, they will be awarded +100 Victory Points. If they win their second game, they will be awarded +200 Victory Points and so on. Note: As this is a physical event, these points are awarded in addition to the potential 20 games a person may play in the Open League.
  • In the first round, each Player faces 1 randomly drawn Player.
  • After the first round, players will be allocated their bonus Victory Points and Rankings will be made based on the highest to lowest scores.
  • Subsequent rounds will pair Players with the closest matching Victory Points and Ranking against each other in the ‘swiss pairing’ format.
  • Once every player has submitted their scores for the last game of the event, Bonus Points will be calculated and the final standings will be published on the Event Leaderboard.
  • The player with the highest number of Victory Points will be ranked in first place and crowned the champion!

Games at our events are to be played with a spirit of friendly competition. We would expect players to conduct themselves with the same grace and decorum that we display in the shows we produce.

Try to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. You and your opponent are here to have a fun game. Try to celebrate your opponent’s victories and commiserate their bad luck.

As war games often have a myriad of rules interactions that can create unclear situations, we appreciate it can sometimes be hard to come to a decision on a ruling.

We have the following points in place to help you in situations that can’t be resolved between you and your opponent:

  • If you can’t agree on a rule interaction with an opponent, you may call a member of the crew to make a ruling on it.
  • Crew member rulings are final. Where an obscure rule can’t be clarified, Crew Members will use a ‘Judgement’ Dice to determine which player is favoured. A result of 1-3 favouring ‘Player A’ or a 4-6 favouring ‘Player B’.
  • Instances of intentional cheating, such as the use of loaded dice, verbal abuse or other nefarious acts will not be tolerated. Such offenders will have their games scored to zero and be evicted from the venue.
