The taste of salt in the comments is outrageous. Space Marines are in a weird place and most of the primaris stuff, whilst cool, is a bit meh. Combat marines (that took little combat options) failed to get into combat and got out shot by a shooty army, is pretty expected, not indicative of an OP codex. As for the salt about Tau being good in melee, please, Chef rolled very high to hit (still hitting on 5s) on a couple of occasions, and James rolling poorly for his saves, does not make Tau good in combat. Please don’t take… Read more »
My son got into Warhammer with the tau. He is super excited for the new codex. Looks like it has some big teeth ( like they all do when they come out) . Great energy on this exposition game.
My vote for the nickname is the bard
James, the Khagan won’t be proud on this one – at least you smiled when you (got) killed.
Vote for the “Moose” !
And someone at GW thought this was an acceptable release of a codex. I swear, they are completely out of touch with their rules team…if they even have a team.
To be honest I’m not much a fan of having the dice rolls at the bottom, makes it incredibly difficult to see on mobile.
NVM
Well, its official, I still hate Tau. Have hated them since they came out. GW is up to same old crap. Tau have no business being any form of scary in combat. Not back and forth when most of your army is alive and the other army is gone. The crew is fun to watch as always but time will definitely tell that the Tau are too killy….. I hate to say it but I have to agree with others in this thread, this Codex is no good for the game. I mean roll a 2+ to get a 5… Read more »
Nice to see some melee back-and-forth. Long awaited to be sure.
Great report – I’m really scared Tau are over the top though…
Just another reason to keep my death guard, necrons, blood angels, black legion and chaos knights on the shelf… at least the latter two still has hope with upcoming codices… maybe knights needs an invuln save that is actually an INVULN save that cannot be ignored?
It’s taken me awhile to get to watch this. Where as I agree Tau are devastating in firepower, I don’t feel like they are unbeatable. As with any new codex release it’s taking the time to figure out how to beat them – and don’t forget the Aeldari and Tyranids are coming.
Goal: have as much fun playing as James does. What a legend.
I do like”The Bard”, HOWEVER, when he said “Danger Moose” it became the obvious choice in my mind.
Also; I loved the epic level troll from Chef not re-rolling the railgun and his obvious delight in said trolling 😀
Love seeing Chef play Tau, battle reports are always way better when you can tell people are playing an army they love.
Lawrence will you be going for any ITC stuff in the 2022 season?
Ah The Bard…. Can’t wait to hear him sing “Burn Spider Burn” as he plays the channel’s arch villain
Also James spent way too much time on getting the BGV involved. This list would’ve been better as any other chapter since he played them so cagey. Ggs though
put on your togas and be good to your mother, it’s time for tau!
Devilfish does the handbrake turn:
Fish of Furious: Taukyo Drift.
I´ll have to preface this by saying that I have never played with or against Tau. This was probably the most unintended hilarious battlereport I´ve seen on TT. Basically it was almost 2 hours of Chef saying Tau-words and techno babel, rolling dies and James removing Space marines while being happy. Chef: “I’m going to use plasma flares and since I am playing Montka that have markerlights on my Crisis Hammerfish my ion blasters hit on 2+ with AP-4. And since your Space marines are within 18″, my Montka flare lights with experimental frequency plasma ion fusions does damage 3… Read more »
Thank you for the vatyle report.
No, no, no Mr. Chef. I think d6 damage on Ta’u vehicles is correct: think of it Imperium still use petroleum engines while Ta’u – miniature plasma. But does it really matters how safe your tech is then it got wrecked by gun fire?
Also I wotefor the “Bard”, so I hope Mr. James will 0lay as the bard someday in the D&D campaign.
I love the pure joy between you all, makes me smile every time. Can’t wait for the next report! Great game all around!
I like the bard too
Loved watching this game! I pretty much smiled throughout! Great to see an aggressive T’au with some lethality. 🔥🔥🔥
It’s about time that tau can actually be played as they should be Mouse games tell are in combat by turn two and we used to have to go home now it’s different is more balanced
What if we called James “The Jester” for a nickname? He is incredibly entertaining 🙂
@11:17: interesting Secondary objective choices! 😛 Those Ultramarines and Genestealer Cults look suspiciously like Tau and Obsidian Scars…
I’m now imagining that that battle is happening in the Underhive while Scars and Tau fight on the surface.
Am I excited about this release? No, I am not. T’au needed a revamp, the players that waited so long DESERVED a good release, and I was rooting for them to get it. Still, you will never convince me that all that amount of multiwound, high AP weapons is balanced and good for the game. It’s another step in this idiotic raise in the lethality, and all the factions that rely on elite, multiwounds, power armored units have another factions against which they are sorely disadvantaged. Yeah, yeah.. Tau have only a phase in which they do damage etc. Drukhari… Read more »
I still vote Buddy the Space Elf for James
we should see a Tau vs Tau battle to decide who the main Tau player will be going forward 🙂
While I love Moose and it came up during a previous game, I think the Bard is a great nickname for him!
Happy for Tau players but this book is overtuned. It’s bad for the game.
“I wanna try the new stuff!”
*Every single T’au HQ immediately dies*
Great report! Love the changes to the Tau!
I give a vote for Moose! 😉
Definitely the Bard! Great video, was wonderful to see the pure excitement for the game keep up the great work
Man, those Crisis Suits really cleaned up.
The Hammerhead was amazing!
Always cool to see a new codex arises… so much fun and cool stuff for the Tau now. Great game with great players. More fun coming in I’m sure!
Besides some silly stuff which was fun an actual good showing of the T’au. As T’au have been seriously hampered in the objective game before I am really looking forward to see if the Sa’cea stuff can really help in that being a bit more survivable and getting easier obsec numbers going.
Also a vote for James “The Moose”
This was a really fun game! Looks so much more fun to play (and play against). I am already thinking of a melee commander with bodyguards for clearing the remnants of units off of objectives.
That and Disgruntled Devilfish, the new fish of fury.
Chef at the end: “It was a back and forth game.”
But really, was it? 🙂
It seems Tau is Tau again.
I’m not sure what to make of this rolling out of Chaplain style abilities, especially since they can be buffed to go off on a 2+. How does this compare to psychic powers?
T’au can give a unit a 5++ on a 2+, admittedly at a 6″ range, which cannot be stopped.
A Farseer can do the same, though at a longer range, which requires a 7+ on 2d6 which can also be denied by an opposing psyker.
Not saying the sky is falling in for psyker armies or anything but it’s quite a change in the game.
I love how James was looking more excited than chef for the tau shooting
One vote for “the Bard” as nickname, please
Great battle report. Broadsides got me back into 40K a few years ago (the rail rifle was too Northstar to pass up), but I’ve not played my tau collection due to pandemic and their old book being unfun.
Really like the look of the changes, especially to markerlights which seem less of a tax now. Also seems like internal balance is pretty good, which is something I think GW has been getting right with a lot of the more recent books – plenty of build flexibility, plenty of options, and difficult to make a genuinely bad army.
2mins in.
‘Where we’re going we don’t need eyes’
2m15s in- spat my brew out
Heads up guys, I think a bug or spider is on the camera lense at about 2:15
💪🕷
The “patient blow”.
This is a family show, people!
Thank you all 😊 I can’t wait to watch my Tau kick ass I am so happy
Yessssss. Keen to see how the fish boys do.
Huh. I expected James to command the Tau.
