I would have liked for Aeldari to get the same restriction of only adding a new fate dice at the end of the phase, but they can’t generate them as often as sisters could. In regards to the changes: For sisters, I’m going to be honest here, I think they’re positive changes and as a local sisters player mentioned, he thinks they’re fair changes. Of course he doesn’t like them because they weaken his army, but he openly admitted that the flamer everything detachment and miracle dice were just a bit too much and needed to be reigned In. I am growing weary of GW not fixing their 1st huge 10th knee jerk reaction.. When are they going to reduce the points of desolators? the only reason they are as high as they are is because Gladius plus a relic( and when it was up to 10).Why should this affect every other chapter/detachment? Just make it so Desolators in Glad cant have a character leading the unit, problem solved. Yes they are still better in that detachment, but things are always better in one detachment or another depending what it is.
Will there be a short video about point discussion?
Just want to say the amount of videos and the quality of them that you are putting out is insane. How you do it and juggle the usual amazing content plus family life, kids, significant others etc is outstanding and genuinely appreciated by your viewers! Thank you.
Can confirm regarding the DA Codex. Saw about 8 of them in a CEX window for sale. Sad times.
My imperial fists army list with 60 heavy intercessors just went up in points A LOT, yet I don’t seem to mind XD
So i dislike this conception of thinking of GSC as an army that anyone can pick up and play.
No its for the player thats been playing the game for 10 years cosistently. You guys had an issue with Talons but Talons was never made for the casual player.
It requires a high level of skill, just like GSC requires a high level of skill.
I guess GW listens to your guys’ podcasts. 4 quarterly updates, rules and points
Game is almost unrecognizable again from inception. Constant changes are terrible to the casual gamer that doesn’t play once or twice a week.
They’ll keep messing it up and needing pages and pages of extra rules amendments until they “fix” it in 11th edition.
“We listed to you guys” yeah, sure you did GW, yawn.
One of the things I really value in your overviews vs other ‘alternatives’ is the way you look at the rules from both a fluff perspective as well as how you think they should have ideally been applied. It give a balanced well rounded review rather than just this is now the strongest most broken thing.
some thoughts in no particular order
1) big oof to GSC
2) really bummed that Hounds of Morkai got left out of the -1 AP buff but guess i just run them as reivers
3) Intercessors are going to be bruuuuuuutal in Boarding Actions now.
4) speaking of boarding actions, that heavy intercessor buff is huge. but that points increase nuked my “oops all gravis” list 🙁
I kind of feel like Agents got done a little dirty here. I know they’re not exactly going to be (nor probably intended to be) a strong meta army, but no requisitioned (anti-)tanks or anything? Even if GW insists on keeping them as a “narrative” army, what about Scions for Inquisitorial stormtroopers? Come on now, GW!
Lol, I’m so glad I sold my dark angels book early doors after getting to code out of it 😂
I have alot out riders for my flesh tearers army, they’ll finally be fun to use again!!
Some nice changes, some disappointing – but understandable – changes (Miracle dice, GSC). But the sheer sweeping amount of changes lends a lot of credence to the rumours that 10e was rushed out to satisfy GW’s incessant need for a 3 year edition cycle. Theres simply too much here that feels like theres been no communication between different codex writing teams and the rules writers themselves. Its an unpleasant thing to say but I dont think Stuart Black is either the correct person for the role he is in, has neither the right support, or the correct team around him… Read more »
You did miss the fairly significant nerf to Fire Discipline. It has lost the 5+ Critical Hits in the Devastator Doctrine.
Whilst remaining 40pts, it may well disappear from lists.
Prepares beer for the Omnissiah, prays the changes I’m about to find out about won’t mean I have to practice too much with utterly changed rules. Presses play.
Only just got used to the tweaks (wholesale changes, cheers for the chat Mr Stig) I’d made to my list…
Thankyou guys cracking work as always
Before these changes I thought warpbane taskforce was likely a little better than teleport strike force. Now with the changes to Prognosticated Arrival and Truesilver Armor I think TSF has taken major hits, I was extremely reliant on keeping my termies in cover Truesilver to save on 3s against the guns that eat them alive (vindicator, etc). I think TSF may be a low 40% competitive WR detachment with these nerfs – Warpbane is definitely the way to go.
VERY happy about the Sisters of Battle & GSC nerfs.
Not really a fan of how the divergent chapters vs codex ones are now separated. Making Oath of Moment better for the codex chapters is just incredibly lazy solution. Why are codex marines just better suddenly? Why do divergent chapters get the same rule worse because they have a bigger selection pool? If the unit selection pool is the issue, then limit it. Take away the detachments. Or solve it by giving the bonus from the epic character to the detachments, when not combined with other chapter keywords. In short – Space Marines continue to be a half assed mess… Read more »
Enjoy your analysis as always. @spider Bit of a left field question, but has designing and updating/balancing your own ruleset for Hero Mode given you any insights/change of perspective in how GW manage 40K via the balance dataslates?
Lord Solar has gone from being auto include, to basically pointless. With Tank Commanders able to order themselves and the command blob being 270pts (whilst he also can’t even do his special thing and order superheavies or abhumans), he just doesn’t offer anything. As a mech guard player, the points increases to Catachans, Cadians and Chimeras is absolutely brutal. The cynic in me says they are priming to make Krieg the most effective to drive sales. Honestly some of these changes feel so OTT. The Hellhound for example was finally seeing play (most often only 1) to and they hit… Read more »
I’ve been saying exactly the same thing about Grey Knights since the new Crowe landed. Im not sure they would update the Dreadknigghts (although they should) but everything else in the army other than named characters comes in two infantry boxes – updating those off the back of the recent changes to Terminators would be fairly trivial.
This updates a lot of “meh” for me. Dread Talons got a further nerf. Bikers got cheaper which all that means isolation Bikers got a but more crutch in Codex: Renegade Raiders.
Can DT please make -3 BS cconsistently and Nemesis Claws and/or Raptors get battleline please?
Ah… with the nerfs to Bringers of Flame, miracle dice changes hitting Army of Faith AND points increases. I think I’m putting sisters away for a while xD
Love these vids. Thank you guys for breaking it down. I would like to see an updated how to play like you do at the start of the edition encompassing all the core changes. It hard for us filthy casuals to ease throught books, FAQs and such to keep up to date.
One day the humble Bolter for CSM will get AP-1. One glorious day… each individual round is a miniaturised RPG ffs!
REIVER META BABYYY??? I’m really pleased reivers have had some little buffs. I think they have a place now as a good disruption unit, either taking out a key character or removing your opponents ability to score an objective. They can deepstrike and move over terrain as if it wasn’t there so they also are quite maneuverable too.
Maybe someone with 30 reivers in their army could run them for us 👀.
GSC makes me sad 🙁 love my army, what started as a Kill Team spiralled into 6k points ish
Really excited about the Space Marines changes with that Oath of Moment especially feeling necessary. For me, one of the core key challenges for that army has been that when they originally set them up with the initial Oath, they accounted for that in the wounding to balance things out slightly. Hence when they did the heavy nerf for the Oath rule, a decision that I still do find interesting considering what the stats were saying at that time, it made the army itself feel much softer in attack than a SM army should. I do think this addresses that… Read more »
I’ve been wanting to start a Ravenguard army for a while and this update really makes me want to give them a go
*Sad sisters noises*
Well maybe my friends will actually play me now 😆
This feels like a great update! Excited for my outriders!
