Just started watching this one and I have to say THANK YOU SPIDER!!!! I am so happy you gave first born a spin and at least let us old school players see what they can do with the new book. Have to say you might just be a Hero to me now!! Havent even seen who won yet.

Please make a Preceptor leading an army of Warglaives! Another great batrep!

Would you mind adding points for the units in the army lists?

Poor B-bone, those dice gods are fickle, you should of been deleting a few units a turn. Still you soldier on – just remember the day of fate will finally come.

On a note about space marines, how do you guys feel about the bunker, especially from an imperial fist/ crimson fist stand point?

That lone inceptor surviving… uhh. However I believe a stratagem called Death Grip would’ve given you another pretty good chance of making short work of it! But let’s be fair, pretty much everything was stacked against your luck here BBone. Some Lawrence magic on top of it sealed the deal :’D

At least we can say the Knights tried ^^

Poor Plant King B-Bone! I feel physical pain when you roll like that versus Spider’s perpetual successes! However, this was an excellent highlight of how the Knights are obsolete/unplayable.

BBone! My heart hurts for you watching this. Those rolls were Beard quality. When you point out how your 300+ point model hadn’t killed anything in two turns I mean what can anyone do at that point?

Gods Bone! What kinda luck do you have Bud?!?

I am still confused about Storm Shield. 4+ invulnerable save and add 1 to saving throw. So if you have as well a Iron Halo (or an in built 4++ like Custodes), can you add 1 to that invul save and effectively go back to a 3++ ? Basically saying “I take this save on my iron halo and apply the storm shield bonus”

With knights balance they could just give them a similar rule as custodes with their objective secure.

You guys are great, but paying to see someone with a knight list get beat up by an Ultramarine list with 100 lascannons just feels…bad. You say you don’t have Guilliman, but SM/UM have rerolls anyways from many different sources. Let’s please not tailor these lists when facing an inferior faction, it’s just not entertaining or educational to the watchers.
I’m truly sorry you have to play some of these lists, Bone.

Started off well enjoyed the chat but man are marines so boring to watch.. Just got an answer for everything between strategems and pstchic/relics and traits. “Ohh these thing your army do? Well i pay 2 cp and do it better”

totaly switched off 1 turn in.. i mean the luck really makes it so much worse lol.

What is the plasma combo that Lawrence mentioned in the list review section for plasma inceptors.

GingerKidd

I always feel like we should pay attention when they say “This army should get this, or they should do this,” just in case they may be alluding to something

Interesting Spider goes on about 9 baby knights, I’ve been debating doing the same thing. I think they’re really necessary to have enough “stuff” to play the game. Without them there’s too many secondaries you just cannot pick (engage on all fronts, Domination, etc) and primary is a nightmare. I don’t even like big combat knights because there’s so many armies out there that just LOVE to get a Knight in combat and eat it (Death Guard, Custodes, Blood Angels, the list goes oooooon).
I would love to see you guys show off a 9 baby knight list.

This was tough to watch. Do you both discuss the lists you are bringing before hand? The amount of melta and lascannons in the UM list seemed tailored for facing a knight list.

If you want to play Knights, double ranged weapons as House Lucaris. Suddenly their fight phase is amazing, even with feet.

Nice to see the Ultramarines again! Would enjoy seeing them in a few more games with the new codex. Maybe a narrative continuation of the Gaius war now we have two new codexs…

Got to say Bbone, really feeling for you whenever you play Lawrence. Sure he is a very good player, but its almost incredible how one-sided the luck can get sometimes! The entertainment is golden though! Much love<3

Maybe a bit unfair with the terrain that blocked line of sigt but still allowed the inceptors to score and forced the Gallant to run around it.

Given the last few batreps featuring Marines had Razorbacks with Assault Cannons what was the thinking behind switching over to Lascannons? I feel the SMs would probably still of won anyway but was just curious if you knew about the match up before creating the list? Not that the Spider would tailor his list just beat the Bbone right 😉

The Knights as a super heavy auxiliary work well in the Ad mechs, get a Knight crusader all guns and let rip as the rest of the army do there thing and keep the ankle biters away. Worth 3cp. Do the Titanic tango if need be. Not the battle cannon though not worth 100 points.

Aw that was rough, I think the bad dice for Bone was so unfortunate aswell. Looking forward to seeing more of the ultramarines. Personally I think it should be evident to everyone that the Codex: SM is not a nerf on a macro scale, with the new units and access to so many core options, tricks, brute power units and obsec manipulation they are looking incredibly strong. I will say though, that the internal balance leaves a very sour taste, certainly between the vanilla supplements and the upcoming non compliant codecies – I think thats where things are going to… Read more »

My commiserations Bone, and thank you for giving it a shot. Yes you could have finessed them a little bit better if you were more familiar with the rules, but It wouldn’t have changed a thing. I love my knights, but they are consigned to the shelves as well :'(

Pure Knights are dang near impossible to play I think. Good go at it Bone, maybe more Warglaives next time? They are actually not a bad little unit.

Also Taranis is the only House, in my opinion, worth anything. As you saw Knights still die fairly easily and need all the help they can get.

One Valiant+9 Warglaives I say! Pack Tactics for everyone!

I really felt for Bone but I do so love seeing the Ultramarines win. The Gaius war series is why I have an Ultramarines army and as I’m sure GW really appreciated your play testing then surely an official Artemis data sheet would be a nice thank you 💪

I personally think GW should look at variable points costs. Like if your entire army is battle forged knights etc etc you can reduce the points costs of all titanic models by 100 points or something of that nature. I think there is potential there along with your other ideas. it helps give knights a boost whilst not making them too good and facilitate constant souping again, as you mentioned was a concern In the faction focus video. Other factions that bring a knight as an ally pay the full price, and thus they’re not nearly as efficient. I think… Read more »

Nearly 40 minutes in and we are still on the lists 😂 I don’t mind in fact I think I prefer it when you guys go off on a tangent, always find what you guys have to say about factions insightful and worth listening to. Lawrence and BBone my favourite matchups, great work guys it was a pleasure to watch as always!

Maybe make knight obsec and their wounds are counted as the number of models, so the more damage it takes the less effective it is

André Ferl

I can recommend the costum household trait “Unremitting” to help with shot consistency, since you can reroll one dice for every gun that has a random number of attacks. Moreover, you can use the “Cold Eradication” WL Trait to get an additional dice for determining the number of shots. Thats how I play atm, and it works fine for me. (I am even using a Castellan, it is good, when used properly). You have to be very aggressive with all of your units and stomp fowards and put pressure on your opponent. Try to be as active as possible in… Read more »

As a competitive knight soup player I feel as if Taranis is the only viable option. Also using all fifteen stomps from you gallant probably would of finished off the Inceptors.

I feel like you’d like Chaos Knights more, B-Bone. You can take all melee knights with a custom house of Abominable Constitution and Pride Filled Fury. That way, you’re always on your top profile. Then, to hold objectives, just summon daemons as you move across the board to sit on objectives. I feel like that’s a B-Bone list, all fury and no mercy!

Bottom Turn 1 Charge Phase: Bone used a reroll to charge the big Knight into the Inceptors and then used a reroll to reroll the save on his Warglaive

I thought knights were all obsec and counted as ten models or something?

Knights are still super-strong.
It’s almost impossible to win against Knights with my Ynnari.

Also, the Hounds of War custom tradition allows Warglaives to shoot OR (!) charge after falling back, not both.
