Really enjoying the review Spider! Couldn’t help but think that your screen saver would make an awesome purchasable download so we can all ‘represent’ on our own home PC’s.

Can’t wait to see the Tantalus and Reapers in a bat rep! I thought the Reapers were good fun running as Dark Tech. Sure, they were swinging as heck, but man when they powered up…
I think the only thing keeping me from scooping up these models is the new Codex on the horizon. I’m curious to see if they’ll change the profiles for Dark Lances and Dissys. Especially when Incubi look even more ridiculous! I think those will have to be my next purchase.

Great stuff for Drukhari. I’m looking to seeing those Reapers you picked up finally make the table!

I’m surprised you’re so underwhelmed by the hornet, to me it’s one of the clear winners. It was good already at 65, it dropped in cost and got an always on -1 to hit. It doesn’t quite have the heavy weapon volume or the invulnerable save of the walkers, but you do get +1 save, +2 wounds and nearly twice the speed, which seems fair for 20pts. Its main issue is that it just doesn’t really need to exist – the vyper and the war walker were already treading on each others toes, and the hornet really is just more… Read more »

Really good video, professional as always.
I’m compelled to make the same comments as I did on the marine one – GW/FW vehicle pricing leaves me completely confused. Lynx sounds amazing for those points, same as a tantalus, jesus just compare them to the cost of a plain old godhammer landraider… 😂😂
The 8th ed rules for the Nightwing were fine – why did they need to change them to something pointless!? So frustrating. I’m loving the core game of 9th edition, but the army rules we’ve had so far are annoying the crap out of me.

In regards to Dari Eldar and anti-tank, you are right unless you take 21 dark lances or in this case three reapers and how ever many dark lances you can cram into a list. But i agree with you on challenge, ive been playing Dark Eldar since 5th when they still had their 3rd edition codex, which wad incredible. But i played that army all through 7th and my skill at the game increased so much just grinding through games with them. I would go so far as to say winning a tournament with the best list is not that… Read more »

I think I prefer this format for the faction focus. Just a little more ‘focused’ up and concise. Not saying that the ‘chat’ style isn’t good, but this just seems less frenetic and easier to follow the trains of thought.

Lovely stuff as always! 👊🏼

I have a feeling with supreme commander being introduced, he may well be returning.

I have always loved my tantalus. My first broke when i moved house, so i bought another and magnised this one. Been looking forward to breaking it out again. Really need to repaint my army though, looks very dated to what i can do.
Spider – I am eagerly awaiting you dishing out the pain with you Drukhari again. Please don’t keep us waiting long. 😇

Good video! Great to see you back producing content hands on!

I think regarding titanic units they could all really use a baseline ability to make up for the fact that they are so inherently vulnerable (size/terrain).

I’d say -1 to wound or -1 damage would go a long way towards making things like a monolith or a mixed admech/knight list more fun to use in a friendly/semicompetative game.

Great video, Spider… always a pleasure to get your takes on things 🙂 I think you’re a little overly bearish on the Hornets (yeah, you’ve not gone an invuln in comparison to War Walkers and more expensive, but you’re a lot more mobile, which is nice in such an objective-heavy game), but I think overall you nailed it here. Thanks as always for what you do!

So the Lynx just has the one weapon option now? Didn’t it use to have option of a big gun and a flamer weapon? I got two in an garage sale and the main weapons are different in each

Da Big Boat is definitely moving from cabinet to tabletop… 310 pts? Sign me up! To run it as Kabal or Coven, that is the question – survivability being a top priority, I guess. On top of my head, I’d say that a 6+ shrug (Black Heart or Custom [Soulbound]) is generally better than a +1 toughness (Haemonculus) in this case? Can’t wait to dust off the thing and give it a go!

Thanks for the analysis lawrence, very interesting. 3 FP’s with linked fire will average 12,6 wounds on a knight. The scorpion is stuck at 10,6 3 FP’s barebones will set you back 510 vs the scorpion 500 but will have 36 wounds vs 26. The scorpion has an invuln however and packs a higher T, not that that matters vs lascannons and stuff. Not saying its great or competitive but interesting at the least. If you put the Hornets next to that, at 300 ish points you have 24 wounds at T6 with a 3+ that are faster than the… Read more »

Good job mate. Interested to hear that you were cold on the Hornet. Some players are shouting about them from the rooftops. I played George from Realspace Raiders in my last Eldar game and they just struggle to golf objectives. Think that’s where these little units like war walkers and hornets become interesting. It’s not quite the old list I ran at Bournemouth that did so well. Finding it so hard for the Eldar to adapt I’ve become a Necron 😅(I know Chef is happy about that).

You got it right about the ATV, that’s why I won’t even try to make space for it in my marines army, no matter how good or broken it is right now. Style before anything else!
Truth be told, I also dislike the Primaris bikes: with their design how the hell are they supposed to turn, or even go past little bumps on the road? I don’t know who designed them, but at this point I doubt he even saw a real bike or buggy.

Always interesting listening from the spider itself! I’m looking forward to the new Craftworld codex, especially if the price of BL and Starcannon stay the same!

Tantalus looks beautiful, but the resin models I’ve dealt with thus far have made me leery of those huge sails. I wish there was a plastic model.

Got a Tantalus for Christmas two years back, I used it as something of a joke a handful of times but it was just never worth it. With the points drop it’ll definitely be seeing play much more. And I’ll probably have to pick up a Reaper or two once I’ve built my Sister’s out to a respectable size, they’re not badly priced for US Forgeworld.

I absolutely agree with Lawrence, that ever since the introduction of 9th edition being an objective based game. Most of the Aeldari’s compendium choices are some really hard sells, over our tried and true star models for 9th, such as Shinning Spears, War Walkers, Fire Prisms, etc (Which is just an issue with Eldar themselves) Other than the Wraithseer and maybe the Lynx, I really don’t see myself picking any of these models to help me when I go out to try and win games. (Typical Craftworlder ideology, playing to win lol) I honestly find the strongest take away is… Read more »

I think the Lynx is really good now and the Fire Prisms are heavily overrated. I would even go so far to say that FP are bad. 2d3 at d3 damage is extremely pathetic against vehicles and to actually get that fabled reliability all three have to fire at the same target. On the other hand Lynx is amazing with flat 6 shots with lascannon stat lineand flat 3 damage it is equally effective against elite and vehicles, you look at the squad of Gravis Primaris and they’re gone. S9 is amazing when you have all the rerolls from expert… Read more »

Minor point on the Reaper – it was 12 wounds before so has lost 2. Silver lining being it gives away one less point on bring it down.
The Tantalus was double your move on advance before as well so has lost a tiny bit but not a problem at all given the points adjustment.

Lawrence, please try Dark Technomancer Reapers and Tantalus. D3+4 and wounding everything on 2 or 3s oh and t7 near haemy. Tantalus is fantastic with it as well, T8 dark elder? Please!

I think you are underestimating the shadow spectres a little. You do have to be careful with them but they are highly mobile, moving 12″ and being able to adv and shoot without penalty. If you run them with masters of concealment they won’t really fall to incidental shooting and the obvious expert crafters really helps you against those gravis style units. The blast profile is also really important, with how good the new necrons are, having a 10 man spectre unit able to be guided and then pick up an entire unit of 20 warriors in one volley with… Read more »
