Had a practice game with this detachment. Oh man did it smack. One slightly underrated unit not mentioned in the comments – Purgation squad. Just keep 1 or more in the back line and just hold your deployment zone and possibly mid board with full rerolls on hits. Also… throw those purifiers in a land raider to get them up the board and have some antitank.
So looking at this detachment, I think taking terminators is a mistake same with Dread Knights. I’m thinking multiple purifier squads along with alot of basic infantry with dreadnoughts or maybe a few dread knights to deal with big stuff.
I’ve an idea – at the beginning of each turn, including opponents, Grey Knights player rolls a D6 on a 2-6 the opposition player capitulates. ones can be rerolled.
ok so a techmarine is now one of the most dangerous melee characters in the game. Enough said about GW balance
85 points for an average of about 6 mortal wounds against a low toughness unit and a load of flat 2 and 3 damage attacks with precision….
I like the idea of this detachment… In combat will put down some damage! But the shooting phase… The bloody shooting phase… Grey knight ranged weapon options are terrible. I love my knights but it still feels like I’m being forced to take a certain list to be competitive! What do you think spider am I wrong?!
it’s soooo gooooood
thank you Mr gobbo
one correction though Lawrence: Brochamps can’t lead purifiers
The Radiant champion enhancement is actually pretty violent with the Brotherhood techmarine, rather than with the Champion
He has technically 8 attacks with melee weapons and damage 3 with the servo arms.
honestly this just feels like a detachment for terminators with a couple purifier units sprinkled in for support. Crowe with one of them ofc. then the army rule is just used on a couple of small action units to play the points game. I’d be tempted to base my army around two bricks of terminators with this detachment. One brotherhood unit with stealth, and one paladin with voldus. then I’d probably take a third unit of 5 brotherhoods with the precision enhancement on a grand master or something. I don’t think you care about teleport shenanigans in this detachment. You… Read more »
Space marines Oath of moment, far too powerful as one target can be focused on. Army wide reroll all hits against any target, seems fair. GW, you are killing me here 😅
I really want to be more excited about this than I am but with the datasheets we have right now, this seems just kinda Fine, I Guess. Like, Purifiers with Crowe are fun and all but they have no other character that can lead them and even with Crowe it’s just a boatload of -1 AP, 1D shooting, like most of our shooting. We’re reliant on so much high-ish volume, low damage firepower from what are often pretty fragile models–and without Truesilver in this Detachment that’s even more of a problem. Maybe after the Codex, assuming we get any expansion… Read more »
Very interesting and maybe even more for smaller games.
‘Still Grey’ grey knights marines have apparently a new lease on life^^
Dropping a Crowe blob 6″ from a character’s bodyguard feels absolutely brutal.
Unfortunately Brotherhood Champions can’t join Purifier Squads 😢
At present Crowe is the only character who can, maybe this will change when we get the full codex. Would be nice to see an option for Chaplains and Librarians in power armour to lead Purifiers, Strikes and Interceptor units.
I really like this detachment, This makes brother captains much more viable with their sustained hits and in built reroll wounds with melee attacks
Lawrence, I really love your tactical acumen so instead of being able to teleport around, it will be really interesting to see how to win with a very different detachment.
Also, I want to thank you and the team for doing these reviews. I really appreciate having people skilled with these armies giving their take and helping me learn how to evaluate a detachment.
This sounds like a really fun way of running Grey Knights. I look forward to you trying it out on the channel soon 🤘
