From a marketing point, the free detachments was and is a smart idea, as you could seriously use it to sell models. so win win, buyer and seller

Regarding Primarchs, Loyalist ones especially, I must say that, as a Dark Angels player/fan, I’m really disappointed on how they are handling the return of the Lion. Basically came back in a “ending edition supplement” and then nothing els has happened since.
I get that Primarchs push sales, but If this is the treatment that they’ll get, I hope they’ll do something better for the next ones, I wouldn’t be so anxious for new stuff, let’s hope they improve at least on this side of new release.

Codex should always have what you need to play in them. Outdated rules and outdated points included. Making it all digital is obviously a normal standpoint. However that makes the game device dependant. Of course this game isn’t inexpensive and the likely hood of the consumer having a device is high. Still it takes it form being an option to making it mandatory. Which is a barrier (however how small) to entry. Secondly not everyone plays the game enough. As a personal example. I have some Star Wars legion rebels. I play that maybe once a year. All the costs… Read more »

I already subscribe to the app, give me a £5 or £10 codex digital option. Come on GW

All I want to know is what the three of your reactions were to Fulgrims new 40k model? Personally, I think it’s epic!

One MoHUUSIVE irritation of mine with these Grotmas detachments is that they’re NOT IN THE APP!!!

Fully agree on the Codexes being out of date on release, with the DA one being now totally defunked. Criminal, but hopefully will get them to implement a app code only purchase system for the Codexes in the next edition onwards. It’s the only logical fix.

I’m a little surprised there hasn’t been some sort of consumer law breach/action taken on GW for the way that currently sell codex. I suppose they have something protecting them like a disclaimer that it’s a guide book only and could be changed and updates available etc etc. Selling a book that’s not fit for purpose and is only essentially an unlock code for a specific part of the app.

Ahhh, the age old common-sense request to not have new rules spread around all over the place and updated/consolidated for ease of access for new and old players alike. You guys talk a lot of sense. Hopefully someone at GW is listening!
Will we see an updated Ravenwing range?

During the pre 10th edition hype build-up, GW did say the design philosophy of army rule vs detachment modularization was very intentional and that made it possible to do the grotmas calendar thing. So they say things, and then thing actually come out of it. Where am I going with this? During the Eldar reveal, they specifically said that the Eldar codex will contain the allowed drukhari data cards for the ynnari. This opens up possibilities. The knights and chaos knights codexes could very well have the admech and cultist data sheets in there. I also think they will “godify”… Read more »

They did some fluff about Thousand sons using some old Heresy Automatons to fit Necrons so I recon that will be their release, and Im hoping for some fast attack for world eaters. I find it interesting that none of the grottmas detachments are in the app (or I can’t find them in there) so I wonder if they are going to be short lived.

The only issue I have with the new detachments is that they are STILL not on the App yet.

My prediction is that space wolves *are* coming this year and that no (sorry chef) they arent going to Legends the whole range but they will legends most of it. We have SO MANY characters. I’d bet a substantial amount of money that we get a new TWolf cav kit, new Wolf Guard Terminators, probably a new Njal, Ulrik and maaaaybe Logan and then everyone else but Ragnar is getting Legends’d. And then! I hope (probably beyond hope) that we get a very Deathwatchy treatment of blood claws, grey hunters and longfangs, where those become mixed marine type units, just… Read more »

Great episode guys, really interesting. Can I make a request for you to consider for the future of the podcast. I really like listening to these with just the audio, which for on demand with the app is great, but it YouTube won’t keep playing in the background for Freeview podcasts. There’s probably a good reason you don’t but it would be great if Freeview podcasts were still available with your on demand player.

Make it all digital but ensure that it could be printed out for people that work better with everything laid out before them

None of the crusade rules are invalidated with changes. I’m surprised you guys don’t touch on that more being more narrative minded players.

The Daemonkin discussion got me quite excited, imagining Chaos Lords on Steeds of Slaanesh or Juggernauts, leading units of daemon cavalry. Takes me back to 2nd edition when those models were available. Palanquins of Nurgle!! We already have TS Sorcerers on discs, so why not?

So I’ve got a wee question for the crew, as well as the viewers! Maybe it can chatted about it in a future podcast or something but would love to know peoples opinions here too. So the question is “How did/do you choose the army you want to play?” Now, I know it sounds like a fairly simple question but I’ve been doing a bit of soul searching the last wee while. I’ve been in and out of the hobby for the last 20 years, I have 4 full 2k armies now but I certainly have a preference for some… Read more »

Lawrence mentioned building his original EC Sonic Dreadnoughts from the Defiler kit. What if…. there was a new re-imagined Defiler that came with upgrade sprues to give different weapon options for each of the aligned Chaos Gods? Suddenly the modelling options become really interesting and you could flavour your Defiler more than just through the paint scheme.
The datasheet would only need the extra weapon stats included and a rule similar to the Daemon Prince one, where you pick an ability based on your model’s alingment.

I would be sad to see codex demons go away, however I think they’ve learnt from the Deathwatch fiasco so my prediction is all the demons will go in the legion specific books, and Belakor in core chaos marines, and then demons won’t get a codex but we’ll have all the index’s still, I personally pretty much only have Khorne demons aside from Belakor so I’d love for them to all to be in codex World Eaters and have rules that benefit everyone in the book and not having to mess around with only having so many points worth of… Read more »

Honestly, a new Grey Knight range cannot come fast enough. Primaris sizes GK, true scale paladins… Oh man, I can’t even.

Another great podcast, as always!

Last Son of Nostramo

Predictions is almost like the old celebrity deadpool game…mine are:

  1. Refreshed Space Wolves (New Bladeguard, Long Fangs, Logan, and Upgrade Sprues for Terminators, Blood Claws and Grey Hunters)
  2. No New Grey Knight models this year (despite the new codex promise and the fact its only 3 boxes that need upgrading)
  3. Sorcery Automata for Thousand Sons, Terminator Sorcerer and new codex.
  4. Daemons in God Specific Chaos Marine Codex’s rather than a separate Daemons codex.
  5. Kill Teams for Iron Warriors & Guard Regiments.

Back in 1st edition we thought 1st edition was the best edition ever

My idea for publishing rules is add codes to unit build instructions to access the datasheet in the app. This is so people that just want one assassin ally do not have to pay out £30-£40 for a codex to use one half of a page side. Youd still need the codex to access the army rules and all units though.

Hopefully lots of updates to models (grey knights pleeeaase), I think the grotmas calender was a good sign from GW. Played the grey knights detachment already and loved it. Hopefully going to play a deathwatch one soon too (also a good sign they heard the feedback and listened)

Regarding codex, the buy the codex or app is locked is absolute toilet. However I would buy a codex regardless for the fluff.
