*NEW CODEX!* Black Templars vs Orks | Warhammer 40k Battle Report

The fires of faith burn bright as the Black Templars march to war. Led by the indomitable Chaplain Grimaldus, the warriors of Dorn descend upon a world in peril. A world drowning beneath the green tide. But this is no mere Waaagh… for at its head strides Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thrakka himself, the Prophet of Gork and Mork, bringing with him the promise of total annihilation. In the shadow of the Great Beast, can Grimaldus and his Crusade hold fast to their holy vows? Or will Ghazghkull’s Waaagh! sweep aside even the most zealous of the Emperor’s servants?

Wow! What a strong BT army. Thanks for the fun game
I wanted to get into HH because of the no wounding something more than double your strength after an incident involving a kill rig and guards using 5+ crit and lethal hits. I like my rule to reflect the logic of the game.
Can Fletcher eyeball the ork skin recipe on these?? I know he didn’t paint them but I’d love to copy it!
Absolutely love Black Templars and hope we can see more of the new codex soon!
Doesn’t Ghaz’s unit get crits on 5+?
I go back and forth on the “no wounding things double your strength”. The current “anything can wound anything” does mean you always have a small chance of being able to kill a things, and lead to heroic/memorable moments where the last brave guard mans get a luck shot and takes down Angron. But it does lead to the issue that a lot of the time the answer is more shots rather than bring the right tool for the job. On the other hand, it can lead to lots of feel bad moments where your opponent picks off your anti-tank… Read more »
Interesting point on Careen! thats often up for debate – it says that after moving the embarked units make a desperate escape, taking mortals on 1-3s but disembarking 6″. That would’ve made for 2 dead Meganobz here. But it’s also slightly ambiguous as to whether a regular “disembark from explody transport” is allowed. Thoughts?
My dog perked up at that mighty Waaaghhh… Stellar stuff as always folks!
Thanks for a super fun batrep gents.
Thinking back to like 4th ed 40k when you couldn’t wound things that were too tough, it kind of sucked to have a wraithlord just wander into you and be untouchable.
Having said that, I think lethal should be way less broad. Some lethals should clearly only work against infantry and not be magical tank busting swords.
Helbrecht leading 20 crusaders would be 100 attacks..😳
throwing a grenade at Macari? cowardice from the Black Templars, they should be ashamed of themselves lol
WAAAAAAGH
Shout out to Beard, he’s been taking on all of these new armies and their new rules with grace! Space wolves, GKs, and now BTs haha VINDICATION FOR BEARD SOON
Beard’s Waaagh this game triggered memories of Judge Doom screaming at the end of Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The edition of less re-rolls In action.
So many rules negating others rules. Like the plus to wound and lethals on 5s taking on way higher toughness. But Its typical of GW to make an edition that had monsters and vehicle focus and then give everyone mid way through the edition the tools to deal with them.
Things like crits on 5s should be stratagems In my opinion.
Doesn’t the marshal or the castellan give the unit their attach crit on 5s in melee?
Excellent game. Terrible shame we couldn’t see the full potensh of the Execrator but still awesome fun. Looking forward to getting my reinforcements soon.
Need a paintguide for these BT asap🤩
Hell Yeah!
Have to agree with Mr James that’s the best waaaaagghhhh u done Mr Joe, thou think a headphone user warning might have been handy
Beard if you’re worried about not having enough Boyz on the table, why not run ‘The Green Tide!’
The studio actually has enough.
Simply cast your mind back to the test vs 120 Boyz.
Wouldn’t the sword brothers be battle shocked from leaving the transport (and couldn’t then use a strat)?
Wooo! Black Templars vs Orks?! Always an epic showdown.. can’t wait to watch it!
Edit: yup! It was excellent! What a smash fest! Always love the bread show too.. they’re both hilarious. Great battep!
