Beard brings out a host of walkers and artillery, but will it be enough to send Chef and some of the new Indomitus Necrons back to sleep?!

That was a really enjoyable report, seeing the fire power on both sides i thought it was going to be a short game determined by who goes first. Is the hold 3 specific to this mission? Normally it’s hold 2 for 10

Great battle, nice to see the new necron stuff in action BUT … seriously what is wrong with your dice guys? 😀

Incredible, bloody, close game. This is the kind of stuff you love to see, and makes me happy that 9th is still capable of these kinds of bangers

That was the daddy mac of games! An epic match up. Love the rules explanation as you go along. Ever considered some how to play 40K vids? You guys are awesome!

Ahh, awesome game!! Good job on balancing this one too, it felt like just the right amount of teeth and good fun – little side note though: Idk if this is just a quirk in how the list appears above, but it looks like (if it is following the standard format for BattleScribe) that Beard actually had units of 8 csm? Usual when it says 6x [whatever] nested into the unit selection, the sergeant and extra special weapon marine are counted in addition? Would be an understandable mixup, especially for Beard, as the format for Deathwatch kill teams is an… Read more »

Why, in early August/ late July, is Beard wearing a hat?

Nearly at 100k on YouTube! Also, is that a new grey filter or different colour correction at the lists? Looks nice and crisp!

That was a bloodbath! Extremely entertaining and I actually found myself sitting on edge at the end there, very exciting stuff! Cleavo the Scorpion King is definitely my new hero, what an absolute beast! As a side note I would like to express my appreciation for Chef, the way you subtly explain the various new tidbits of rules as you go along is really nice, and especially helpful for the likes of me who is not very up to speed on the game currently. It really helps with my slow transition back to the game and to all the new… Read more »

Regarding the warriors use about 1:03 in… You had 10 warriors, and the way Beard piled in (or rather, didn’t), it looks like you only had 3 (maybe 4) warriors that were in engagement range. 4 of them died to Beard’s fight phase, but you pulled them from the back, as opposed to pulling the ones that were keeping your warriors engagement range. The failed morale could have also removed a few more that were just out of fight range. The hit-back for warriors is garbage, since they have 1 attack @ S4, AP0, so they would be unlikely to… Read more »

That Necron lord was an absolute monster, it’s always cool to see a character power up like that. Thanks for another entertaining match!

Also, Grotty is American? I noticed the use of Math in lieu of Maths.

Wasnt the codex faqs out yet?
Because tesla is changed to unmodified 6:s now. ?
Edit: My bad, they hade not. They changed for admech with the corpuscarii electro priests that worked exactly the same way so i just presumed they hade changed Necrons too. ?

But i understand it cant be easy to know everything when there are new updates every week (what it feels like ?).

Awesome game guys! Keep up the incredible work you are doing! ?

It would be really nice to have a release schedule or maybe just a next episode with a date on it in the shows list.

I think that the “Scorpion King” needs to have the skulls of the 3 characters he cleaved added to his base. Just keep adding skulls for characters as a tally.

I’ve seen the “Scorpion King” in action in several games thus far, and at this point I’m convinced: they’re awesome. Useful buffing abilities, decent shooting, brutal combat, incredible durability… if you run a few Wraiths as his bodyguards with those 3++ saves, he’ll wreck so much face. It was so much fun watching him just kill everything in arm’s reach this game.

This is what 9th ed 40k would look like without Space Marines. And it is a beautiful thing.

Awesome game, a real nail biter!!

I love how the Bone spirit – The spirit of Bone – is affecting the whole team!
There’s names for the models, little storys, players swinging weapons and screaming and over all a high energy level and enthusiasm! You are all becoming plants! Power Plants!
Keep up the good work!

I’m really looking forward to running my own Scorpion King as the warlord with the Honorable Combatant trait. The extra D3 attacks on character, just to be sure they don’t survive. Choice.

Guys, a question?
Will the current pandemic, combined with the release of 9th, and the obvious interest that brings in have any knock-on effects to your plans to start AOS this year?
I only ask, coz as much as I enjoy your 40K content, I always struggle to find good quality and fun AOS bat reps.
Cheers.

Fantastic game! 10pts is definitely close in 9e, and it easily could’ve gone the other way. Love seeing matches that come down to the end!
While it’s not the best Dynasty, it would be great to see the Novokh in action. Perhaps a face-off against a mid- to low-tier army for some fluffy shenanigans as a preview until more Skorpekh Destroyers can be built? Throw in some Lychguard and Flayed Ones, perhaps? 😀

Hoping you can take the Skorpekh Destroyers In a unit of 6 when the codex drops, I’ve had great success with them, but they still die fairly easy with only 3 models In the unit. Love the Skorpekh Lord and man was he a beast In this game, but I wish he had 5 attacks, you pay a pretty hefty sum for 4 attacks with a minus one to hit on the big weapon. Know Its hard to balance with the T, W and living metal. All In all with the leaks coming out around our other units and seeing… Read more »

Absolutely amazing batrep!
For the future of the mighty Scorpion King I want to point you towards the 1cp stratagem that prevents units from taking invulnerable saves against his first attack. Might come in handy in a pinch!

Yeah, ok, that was again one of the best reps. And I love that you ‘just did some cool stuff’ at the end. It’s not really about ‘winning’ or ‘the points’ in the vast majority of the games so ‘just seeing if I can kill your characters because it’s badass!’ Is exactly what you should do haha. Create the narrative in your head and roll with it. A laser destroyer shooting at a star god! The warlord deeeesperately trying to do JUST ONE WOUND to the scorpion king. Oh my silent king this was so good!. Amazing. And those Skorpekhs..!!… Read more »

Chef.

1.06 min in regarding piling in the warriors out of coherency. I am wondering if you could have piled in, failed your coherency test then removed one of the models in combat with the hellbrute. At which point you would have less than 6 so coherency test stops??

This move could have won you 5 points I think but if someone could confirm that would be great.

The skorpekhs are by far my favourite addition to 40k. As a blood angels player they are exactly what I am looking for in my second army and lets face it, a single model that can cleave through dreadnoughts like butter is rule of cool and no one can say otherwise.

Skorpekh lord is the only character that can actually compete with marine cc chars. Its not that he’s amazing, he’s just not as poor / swingy / etc as most

If Beard plays Iron Warriors in Crusade, then FLAME HEAD needs to get all the upgrades. Even the ones normally reserved for characters.

I’m loving the little extra bits of editing and jokes in the current batch of battle reports (like fading to black with Beards insane laugh or a Warning screen before Beards scream of frustration)..
Also great to see the New Combat Destroyers and Lord get some action…
And as a Emporers Children player…I’ll grudging admit, Iron warrior Oblitorators are better then Noise Marine Oblitorators…

The important bit first. The ch in “Tachyon” is pronounced with a k-ish sound, not an s-ish one.
Also, Necrons have close combat characters that do not suck hard vacuum now? Wierd!

@ Beard (and probably Spider)

I’d really like to see Flamehead progress up the chaos ladder. When you start doing narrative/crusade with your Iron Warriors, please upgrade him/his unit. I’d love to see him become an old school DoW-style aspiring champion, but you could also choose to take him and his unit on a renegades and heretics style upgrade path.
Upgrade his squad to Marauders, eventually upgrade Flamehead into an Enforcer and then Commander. Or give him the chance to ‘ascend’ into becoming a Chaos Space Marine, and then he could eventually become Chaos Lord or even Demon Prince Flamehead.

Excellent game. By far the best 9th edition game I’ve seen. And plenty of, uhh, cleavage in this game. So to speak. Go Skorpech!

Skorpekh Lord was like the opening scene from Lord of the Rings… his army was killed, but the power of the Lord could not be undone. He just walks right through the rest of Beard’s army and cinches the win. Pretty epic.

A big big thank you to the editor for the PSA that Lady Beardly screams was incoming ?
I was painting at that moment and thus not looking, so thank you for adding elevator music to that segment – might just have saved me from hearing damage ?
