I agree with others, here, hoping the new codex fixed some stuff but very tired of hearing marines being OP. Maybe its lack of choices in studio army but marines arent killing everyone all the time like everyone keeps chirping. Drukarhi are way stronger than led on to believe.

Great game, great Tactica report. Loved it!
Also, it’s been ages since we’ve seen Custodes on the channel – any chance of a return???
I’m really keen to see how they do in 9th.

A shame but this game was over before turn 1 finished. I think GW over nerfed Marines after their near total domination of 8th. But then I only watch a few 40k channels and don’t play so it may be different on the tournament scene.

Had to take a break for awhile (life was mad and I was being bitchy everywhere, including here, sorry about that) from everything. Back and now you have spinny closeups of units as you talk about them in the preview! Very amazing and very nice.
Again sorry for being a jerk >.<

You two are so cute entertaining together, I love it so much.
*Obligatory hate comment about BBone’s stupid, silly, slithering… sensual, sexy, suave voice.*

I’m looking at the profile for the haywire blaster, and to me it seems like a pretty good sort of weapon to use even if you aren’t up against Vehicles.
And if you aren’t up against vehicles you have copious amounts of poisoned weapons anyway with the rest of your army.
Dear Lawrence, I think I’ve pleaded this case with you before; but have you considered spamming Mandrakes?

I love Spider (and all the guys at TT) but we all knew how this was going to go. When you have someone that always rolls obscenely high in every game it doesn’t matter what the opponent does. No one could survive Spider’s rolling in this game as is the case for almost every game. I actually feel for Bone and the other guys who take abuse from fans for not beating Spider. You have no control over how the opponent rolls. I also feel for Spider because he is consistently accused of cheating or using loaded dice. Some people… Read more »

You can give B-Bone the most boring army list ever and he will turn it to gold.

I’m kind of picking up a vibe in regards to the Obsidian Dragons. It doesn’t seem like anyone actually enjoys playing them. In fact, BBone looked positively repulsed by them today (pun intended;P). I know that the game was already over, but that last combat interrupt by the chapter master spoke volumes. Is it because they are a studio army and no one has any emotional investment in them? Is it because their chapter changes constantly? I think the Obsidian Dragons need a Narrative Report series to build some characters and attachment to the chapter maybe? It’d be nice to… Read more »

Could have been a crushing salamander win if Bone used Self Sacrifice on turn 2 to keep his aggressors alive. Still a fun game to watch !

Lawrence laughs at the so called ‘space marine meta’
Seriously Bone a single thunder fire cannon firing twice would have obliterated those scourges……..???

_ewar_

Not at all surprised at the outcome after seeing the lists. I think Spider consistently overestimates marines strength, they have taken a huge hit from the missions and points in 9th. I think Bones list was too heavily committed to the aggressors gimmick. They are ludicrously strong when they shoot but they are also not that hard to remove once they’re out of the tanks, slow and short ranged. Bone really needed some long range, non LOS shooting – a pair of whirlwinds or some TFC to hurt the scourges early would have been my choice. There is also the… Read more »

I don’t really get your Space Marines are crazy strong argument, Eldar have won the majority of the Space Marine match-ups you have shown on the channel. Space Marines are also not dominating the competitions that are taking place in the USA.
Sure, a casual Space Marine army is generally stronger than other casual armies but in tactical/competitive lists they are not really OP…they keep losing.

Very nice game. Now however Spider, you have played your Joker card, back to ultimate evil on the channel.
Fun Fact: The only game spider lost this year with pure Drukhari army was back in March against Imperial Fists centurions- so who is OP / Broken really, the army or the player 😉

A good game guys, hopefully that quiets down some of the marine hate on the channel. As for the drukhari I really think people underestimate how good their combination of amazing mobility and the ability to field tonnes of small transports and MSU’s, with the meta looking towards big hitting units like quad lascannon dreads and eradicators, simply having too many small units that tend to get over-killed hard is a surprisingly big advantage.

As a Dark Eldar player, I look at the marine list and think, destroy the repulsors and the agressors and then basically relax (which is what Lawrence pretty much did). After those are gone there wasn’t a whole lot left that was actually threatening, so I wonder if throwing in a few power weapons on the marine characters and sergeants would be an idea? Everyone needs to get stuck in around the objectives and even a primaris sergeant with a power fist suddenly becomes quite scary.

A lot of people had written off Drukhari going into 9th but I don’t think those predictions have been born out. I think virtually any faction can do well competitively currently provided they have a good pilot. Except Knights which are just awful because they can’t hold objectives. But basically any other faction have a chance to do well. And I think that is actually a very good sign.

Love the new display boards during list discussion. Would be good if at the end of turn you showed the scores for both sides so we can see how the game is going. Thanks for the great content!

Uhh spider, you didn’t pay for the blast pistol or blasters in the third detachment.
No wonder you had spare points for a Sslyth and a Lhamean!

Great video!
It does feel like marines can end up having lots of eggs in a few baskets. Often it comes off because they are so lethal that they remove their opponents’ ability to deal with those baskets. But when the opponent does hold on to the ability to deal with those big threats, they go from a seemingly strong position to struggling really fast. When marines are built with as many diverse threats as possible, appears to be when they’re at their best.

I was very interested in seeing The Drukhari list as I have been building a Flayed Skull variant myself but using some raiders instead of complete Venoms. I understand the obsession really plays to having the warriors inside for re-roles etc but what are your thoughts of having say two Incubi units instead?

Robert

Fun game, very enjoyable. Mr Spider isn’t it about time we Vect’d whatever Sanga’s got going on in the painting dungeon to get some Incubi done?

one question: why not deepstriking the scourges? In this case it saved you from losing more wouds on the voidraven but scourges are more fun “behind the enemy”. Or was it mission specific rule?

Mark Orosz

So the everyone must be happy because either space marines lose or I lose is a great villain move Lawrence. Although after I thought about it a bit it reminded me of Old Gregg’s line “You must love me exactly as I Love you”

A lot of your games I think are won in the deployment phase Lawrence. Seems to me you usually try to deploy defensively to avoid the first turn alpha and then come in with a haymaker on your first turn. Seems to happen a lot in your games.

Nice game. One thing’s for sure. If there is ever a movie featuring the Sslyth as a character, there is only one … being … to do the voice acting.

Hey Bone, when you tried to wrap the venom, could you not have put the captain on the right site instead of left und then just charge the impulsor to complete the wrap? I know it would not have made a difference, because your marines failed to wound but just theoretically because I think statistically the venom should have died.

I didn’t like the marine list, it was far too vehicle heavy, and I felt the strategy of trying to occupy the middle of the board was playing into the speed of the Drukhari and would allow them to easily envelop and bypass the marines and gain easy access to Bone’s backfield objectives, including the priority objective which was weakly guarded. I feel in this matchup the marines are better castling up on their home two objectives with the ability to throw the odd unit onto the central objective to ensure Lawrence was never easily picking up the 15 primary.… Read more »

Interesting game. I’m not sold on the list Bone used, I don’t think Repulsor are a good choice: they cost an absurd amount of points, and while they have a lot of weapons they can be dispatched by most of the anti tank in the game. As Lawrence said I think that most of the lists we will see going forward will be packed with options to destroy transports, so I don’t see a great future for the big floating tanks (unless their rules or the point change). The cycle of war! I main AdMech, I listen to people saying… Read more »

I’d be interseted to hear if Lawrence would trade the venoms for Raiders in this style of list. I’ve seen the raiders are nearly done, looking forward to seeing how they go. I’m still a big fan of the Venom, but Raiders are definetly an interesting choice.

Not many Space Marine victories In the tournaments that have went off around the world despite covid. I went to Invasion last weekend and there were 2 SM players top 10, but not top 5. Slaanesh Daemons won, which Is awesome. So marines might have the killing power, but they don’t have the best board control In the game atm.
