If these half and half detachments are indicative of changes to the books then i dont mind it as much, the Imperial and Chaos Knights in particular feel like they are testing out something for those factions and the books are going to include the admech and cultists or they will be replaced with new infantry kits for those factions. It is a bit weird to assume so much investment from players but i suppose they are free rules and they are extra on top of the codexes.
I think my brain is about to explode after the drukhari detachment. Im sure its powerful and I can already see some really nasty things you could do. I’m just not sure whether its necessarily as good as the detachments we have already and im even less sure id want to use it over those detachments narratively as the brain power required to run it is gonna be insane. I’m just really not sure what to make of such a confusing set of rules
Reaper’s Cowl on a Death Jester for an infiltrating Lone Op with stealth – could be useful!
Not a massive fan of the craftworld detachment im gonna be honest. Seems like the tactical way to play this is just have as many tanks in reserves as possible, and use the enhancement to put extra in, then turn 2 bombard the opponent with shooting units out of reserves and deepstrike, drop fuegan 6 inches away for melta, and maybe yeet some fire dragons 20 inches using the advance and disembark strat. Not particularly tricksy or intelligent. Just basically throwing tanks at the enemy…
the no overwatch strat is played when you select a unit to move overwatch is when they are or end their move so they do have a set order of play and no overlap that causes the issue of the feel-bad play
I have some mates that play Drukhari. All I’m hearing is the strats alone will be fun enough – “Sod the clowns” was mentioned 🤣
I’m not sure how Chef is getting to a T1 deep strike with webway walker? Am I missing something?
Wahey! I have a pan-Aeldari smorgasbord of nonsense – I love the concept of the Drukharlequin detachment. It’s a really nice development of the lore – most of the harlequin images we have of interactions are via Craftworlds, so it’s great to see them fleshing out what happens in other circumstances.
It’s bringing back some of the stratagems and ideas from earlier editions – like malicious frenzy – and the mime enhancement! It tells us a lot about how the factions interact via their rules.
And for me, that’s perfect.
I’ll be using this as soon as I can.
I look forward to giving both of these detachments a try, so an exciting day for me. That said… Chef, how is that Enhancement that grants Deep Strike allowing T1 Deep Strike?
Not gonna be buying any clowns so the drukhari one is no use to me but the aeldari one…… oh my. Finally I can play the craftworlders how I wanted to back in 8th but couldn’t quite make it work. Wanted a craftworld that was so embattled even the wraith constructs had started running out so it would have to rely more on vehicles and aspect warriors. With the new aspect kits coming and this detachment I am soooo glad I never threw away all those unbuilt tanks
That Spirit stone of Raelyth has I’m a bone singer written all over it. Time to get that model dusted off!
I’ll be trying the Eldar one for sure, just glad of a new way to play finally 😃
