I’ve got a game of hero mode lined up with my harlequin list against horde orcs

One of each character – with enhancements out the wazoo 😂

Troupe master with phoenix gem
Shadowseer with weeping stones
Death jester with fates messenger
Solitaire.

The solitaire looks like an absolute blender – with fights first, blitz, and the heirloom weapons he might be filthy.

Same with the dark reaper S7 d3 and all the sustained hits could be horrific.

I’m hoping to save the Solitaire’s blitz for the warboss when they emerge. Try to get that 20 pts!

If the bodyguard being at minimum size turns out to be an issue for some armies, why not have a general points limit on that bodyguard unit?

I’m super excited to try out hero mode once o have enough ork boys painted.

I do have a question. Is there any chance of adjusting the hero mode rules to possibly work within boarding actions. I’m not sure if it would work but I would love your input.

Great job as always!

I can’t wait to watch a new vid with these rules! Awesome work Spider! I wonder if maybe there could be a Tyranid hero mode, headed up by Jinx and Ed where a few big synapse creatures were left on a planet and the hive mind is returning to get them as they hold valuable Gene Biomass, they have to fend off the Imperium until the Hive Fleet approaches!

Still in the process of painting my army so I haven’t played any games of 40K but I can’t wait to try this one out when they’re battle ready.

It’s a load of fun watching, gotta be even better to play it

I’d love to run this for my friends who’ve only been playing Warhammer for a couple months. Difficulty I have is they all collect different armies. And thus would want different units on the board etc. I’m thinking of just restricting them to a warlord each and letting them go for it even with different army rules etc

Jinx approved! I absolutely love this game mode. Thank you for all the hard work and love you put into it for us to enjoy. Two things I’d love to see, one be an adaptation to boarding action. Two, maybe an implementation of a twist or two throughout the game just to add an extra layer of fun/challenge for those who are seeking that in their games. I love the idea of there being a payload mission. Something where the heroes have to guard and protect as it slowly charges from one end of the board to the other, if… Read more »

Love this and appreciate the updates for mounted characters. I’ll raise my hand as someone who a) loves seeing horde mode battle reports and b) would absolutely LOVE seeing more custom missions specifically for horde mode. Especially if you let Bard design 1 or 3 for Boarding Actions

Do Hero Mode with that new Assassins detachment. Culexus, Eversor, and Vindicare (plus the mandatory upgrades) is 440 points, but it would be a hell of a game.

This mode make me hope more than ever that GW will release rules for The Eight because then by extension Tau players get the Fusion Blades and the Onaghr Gauntlet and that would be so much fun to use in Hero Mode

Idea for a new mission. Emergency evac 5 objective markers in a row about 8 inches from each other. You have to reach one after the other and be on the objective by end of turn. Heroes goes first then horde turn up on first objective and start chasing the heroes. Each subsequent wave comes in on last but one objective so turn three horde turns up on 2 etc. Heroes have assault horde don’t maybe but can add 4 to charge? Downed heroes have to be carried to next objective reducing movement by 2/3 inches. One model can avoid… Read more »

What about a horde mode boarding actions level? 🤔 obviously only infantry only so points would have to be adjusted…or not 🤣

Im a big eldar fan. I havent tested horde mode yet for them tho. I did make some lists and I did have a bit of a hard time coming up with something that seemed to me strong enough for this mode. Most of their heroes are very support oriented and do not really slap in combat. And neither do most bodyguard units (guardians). A spiritseer with a bodyguard of wraithguard can go a long way and obviously the Phoenix Lords are pretty strong. But I’d be curious how you would take this on. Perhaps you guys could do a… Read more »

I said it last time, but I WILL be using hero mode in the GW shop I manage here in France. I’ll start in January! That’ll be the best !

I will give you feedback, but I’m sure everyone will like that !

Not sure if this was asked elsewhere and I didn’t see it – the hold three objectives for 20vp – if you get a turn with all the objectives active and you had enough resources or got lucky and held three in that one turn, would you be eligible for the extra 20vp? Or is it intended hold an active objective for three *turns*?

I really wanna play deep rock galactic using these rules! Kahl (scout), einhyr champion (driller), iron master (engineer) as warlord leading 3 thunderkyn as gunners. with enhancements its 345 points so a little under max but would be awesome against a horde of glyphids… sorry tyranids XD

I played a Game yesterday. I was Controlling the Blackstone fortress group against Demons. Relativly quickly we gave all my characters the Trademark weapons alltough they are named characters. Otherwise I would have been destroyed turn 3. but otherwise it was a pretty cool Game. I think some Legends Units just are just Not good enough for this Mode. We will try again soon with some normal Units And bodyguard. Thank you for making this.

On the Convoy Column, you could have objectives or points along the central board that have to be held during each round, so that the convoy has to move forward, but can’t just jump pack to the end by turn 2or3.

Played a game of hero orks (including Gaz) against World Eaters with the new rules. Was an absolute blast, but let me tell ya, World Eaters as the horde are HARD MODE. So. Many. Berserkers.

Spent the last couple years slowly teaching my Son &, when she feels like it lol, my teenage Daughter 40k. Hero mode has been great, we’ve done both versions as a team against the horde. Keeping the horde at 2.5k we upped the Hero’s / body-guard to 500 and thats the sweet spot for him, as a beginner.

Would you consider the units from killteam to be viable hero units

Hero mode has been the most fun I’ve had in 40K in a long time. It really does feel cinematic and the excitement of not knowing what is coming next really does add a different level of adrenaline that normal games don’t have. Thanks for making such a great way to play the game we all love!
