Good review as always, I have just a couple of observations to do: Beard said that the Sagittarum don’t have melee options, and I have to slightly disagree on that: they could pick the Misericordia, and while it pales when confronted with the “normal” melee weapons the Custodes use, they grant the Sagittarum 3 attacks at 5S and AP-2… better than what most specialized melee units in other armies have. I also think that Venatari are really interesting, cause they give you mobility but don’t costs as much as the jetbike, and since they are custodes they can really hold… Read more »
A fine review. Would like to have gotten Stig’s impressions for these two especially.
With just about everything in the Custodies section Good to Good+ I was wondering what you would rate as the best 2 or 3, other than the Dreadnaughts? Would The Stig rate the same things for the same reasons?
Transports in Custodes forces always struck me as “ugly”, especially with the price point they have. The units themselves are so durable that they don’t really need protection, so deadly that every turn they spend inside of a box seems like a waste, and so maneuverable (via jetbikes and Deep Strike) that being carried in a vehicle hardly seems to help. So you’re left with a golden plated box with a glorified Heavy Bolter strapped on, or a hugely pricey flier? Like Beard said, nah, just bring two Telemons. I will say that these additions have brought something Custodes needed:… Read more »
Love how you guys are Meh on one of the best Custodes units. After what you said about the orks and now this… Mr Heffelfinger is going to go apoplectic 😂😂😂😂
I am going to disagree with you on the Secutarii and call them outright bad. As you said they dont fit into a game of 40k at all (none of their rules work with AdMech outside of Canticles). That being said they don’t even work in games with Titans as they can’t be transported and they can’t keep up. Its sadly a couple of units that have such potential (and love the models) but were built for some other game.
Great review, just a question have you already done the imperial guard review? Just wondering where I can find it?
Venetari are excellent. 55pts, a 1cp strat to make them 4 shots each with the pistols, 12″ move, obsec (obv), just as durable as a spear guard. Been excellent for me in 9th and even better now they 2+ sv and 5pts cheaper than before. Usually deploy them on the board now from the start and they can take objectives early and yet much easier to hide than bikes and get all the terrain bonuses of infantry.
Interesting chat as always guys. I know you said only Necrons to do, but unless I have missed it, have the Guard been reviewed? Thank you and seasons greetings all.
Nice, cheers guys especially as i have some of these landing this xmas. I think giving the Sag a misericordia gives them some extra back field punch in cc.
YESSSSSSS. And my FW book arrives today too! Perfect timing! Building some Golden Bois right now!
