MISSION RULES:

Objective markers:  The Defender places two objective markers on the battlefield within their deployment zone more than 9” away from any battlefield edge and any other objective markers or summoning portal.  Objective markers and the Summoning Portal cannot be targeted for attack.

Summon Dhularzhul: Dhularzhul can be added to the Defenders army after four summoning rituals have been completed.  Once all four summoning rituals have been completed, any units within 3” of the objective markers suffer D3 mortal wounds and the objective markers and any Slaves to Dhularzhul are removed from play.  Dhularzhul can be set up within 3” of the summoning portal at the beginning of the next command phase, and any units (except Dhularzhul) within 3” of the summoning portal suffer D3 mortal wounds.

Dhularzhul is treated as the Warlord for the purposes of selecting a Warlord Trait and  a relic.  Dhularzhul must be equipped with the Umbralefic Crystal.

Summoning Ritual: PSYKER INFANTRY units in the Defender’s army can attempt to perform the following Psychic Action:

Summoning Ritual (Psychic Action Warp Charge 6): One PSYKER INFANTRY unit can start to perform this action during their psychic phase.  This action is completed at the end of your next Command Phase as long as the unit completing through action is still within range of the objective marker.  If the Psychic test is passed on the roll of 11+ the action is automatically completed and any SLAVES TO DHULARZHUL models are destroyed.

Slaves to Dhularzhul: Each objective marker has 9 Slaves to Dhularzhul.  When starting a Summoning Ritual, the Defender can choose to do one of the following as long as there are Slaves to Dhularzhul models  in range of the objective marker:

Dark Sacrifice: Roll a D6, on a 3+ the sacrifice is accepted, add 1 to your dice roll for the this Summoning Ritual, if successful roll 3 D6, for any rolls of 2+ remove 1 Slave to Duhlarzhul to represent their soul being devoured.

Mere Cultists: When resolving an attack made against a unit completing a Summoning Ritual if the wound roll is successful, you can roll one D6; on a 2+ a Slave to Dhularzhul is removed and the attack sequence ends.

MISSION OBJECTIVES:

Stop the Rituals: The attacker scores 5 victory points for destroying an enemy unit completing a Summoning Ritual to a maximum of 20 victory points.

Dhularzhul Summoned: The Defender scores 20 victory points for successfully summoning Dhularzhul to the battlefield.  An additional 5 VP are awarded for any units destroyed by Dhularzhul, or 10 VP for enemy units destroyed by Dhularzhul in the psychic phase.

Target Eliminated: The attacker scores 40 VP for destroying Dhularzhul.

Crystal Translocation: The defender scores 40 VP at the end of turn 5 if Dhularzhul escapes the battlefield using the Umbralefic crystal.

TECHNICAL ISSUE: Apologies to some folks who get the “This Live Event is no longer available” message when trying to play the video. It appears that the Premier function we used on YouTube has created a bug with the embed code. Unfortunately as this issue is with the YouTube embed code itself, I can’t fix it here (YouTube need to fix it). For now, those that get the message on the website or via the app, can still happily watch it via YouTube directly, just tap on the youtube icon directly. In future, we will not use the Premier function… Read more »

What a cool game. I really enjoyed the custom mission. But those Enlightened with bows are SOOOOOOOOO bad. They may be one of the worst units in the game.

Excellent game! Very well done on the mission writing, Beard. It not only was cinematic but relatively well balanced so it was a toss-up on who was going to win.

This was my favourite batrep that you guys have ever produced. So entertaining! I loved the mission, the format, the armies, the tragedy and the drama. Plenty of laughs too. Absolutely fantastic!

Hey team. What a great fun game! Well done to both generals it was very entertaining. 👏 👏 👏.

Speaking for my self I would love to see a story driven campaign. Something that spans over 8 games. Maybe alternate between having 1 on free view and 1 on demand.

Anyway keep up the good work team.

Great mission! It’s always tricky to cone up with and apply rules to narrative scenarios. One scenario I had a great time playing was a train heist. A train travels across the centre of the map with an objective that needs to be stolen or destroyed on it. If the train leaves at the end of turn 5 with the objective, defenders win. It wasn’t perfectly balanced but it was fun. Attacking army can deploy either side of tracks, defender along the tracks/on train. Train moves at the end of every battle round. Models can embark on the train (treat… Read more »

1: What a game! The energy from both players, the narrative, the game itself… bravo! This was the most fun game on your channel for many moons! 2: My wish for another narrative game: Worlds Eaters vs Tyranids, close combat fest. Khârn, Swarmlord, Berzerkers, Genestealers, Helbrutes, Hive Tyrants, Dreadnoughts, Carnifexes… No Hive Guards, No Tyrranofexes, No Exocrines.

Lovely job chaps! That was great fun 😀 I’m currently reading ‘The Devastation of Baal’, would love to see a report along those lines with marines taking on the bugs!

Only at the 32:00 minute mark – is anyone else reminded of the scene from ‘The Fifth Element’!? You know, where Gary Oldman’s character Zorg communicates over the telephone with Mr Darkness! 😀

‘Long time listener, first time caller’ and all that, i hardly ever comment on anything on the internet. That was honestly the best narrative game i have seen on the internet. The fact that you dont script combined with the cyclic time ‘improv’ at the end was what really made it.

The most awesome game ever, not just narrative. The fact that everything came down to the very last roll made it even better. Great job, keep it up, you are absolute legends!

Absolutely epic, really loved this one. More narrative like this please. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it in comments on other vids, but seriously, it’s worth going through the Vigilus books or even older ones and just repurposing the mission rules to suit your narrative. Whoever did those came up with some really great scenarios that play well.

Amazing ! This is exactly what I had in mind while painting that Daemon Prince. Narrative to the core. I like the name too ! Good job Beard for another great mission writing. Great entertainment from both players. A+ As for future narrative reports (YESSSS) : – Tallarn vs Iron Warriors, the Revenge. Colonel Djalhid brings all his tanks to barney with Ingnis Ungala and all the Dreadnoughts he can muster (your dream Beard !). – Some Narrative involving Harlequins would be could. It’s one of the rare studio armies without any « characters » I think. – Dark Angels vs. Chaos… Read more »

That was amazing! Really love seeing more narrative content. Are you looking to doing another narrative led Crusade? Loved the Deathwatch/Tau grudge match.

I would love to see a narrative mission passed around flame head. How did he ascend to be the flame head? Come on we know chaos cultists are the true heroes of the 41st millennium!

Fun game, great pairing. I know you guys don’t have a black templar army but for a narrative game, I would love to see Black Templar maybe as the obsidian dragons? Paired up with an ork army, like a classic grudge match between Grimaldus and the foes he faced on Armageddon where his legend began.

Concerns and issues with the use of premieres aside, that was a superb narrative report! Quality of the mission looked great so kudos to Beard for designing it and thank you both for a true tale throughout the report, may this be the first of many.

This was amazing!! I love all your narrative games.
Can we create a GSC scenario where they are literally surrounding an Imperial guard patrol through a derelict city or maybe a slight recreation of Imperial Guard / Tau co-operation from ‘For the emperor’ by Sandy Mitchell?

Awesome. So glad these are back! I know how much work goes into these and it really shows guys, amazing work I cannot wait for more of these in the future! (If you’re taking game suggestions a Grey Knights vs Daemons narrative game wouldn’t go amiss for me!!) Super fun game though, thanks for the Saturday entertainment you brilliant bunch

A very enjoyable game gents!
Not always the optimal choises… (Firering the laser destroyer last when you have one wound re-roll at anny time) But, who cares in a narative game right? This is why gaming can be so fun! And great of you to share the scenario!
As for a request: A Kill mission for Artemis to slay the silent King, using the Ultramarines and maybe some imperial assets???
