Any thoughts on running Be’lakor with Chaos Space Marines as disciples of Be’lakor?

Also – great vid, as usual, guys.

I swear, whenever you do one of these vids on a new codex, it makes me want to go out and start a new army. A part of my brain starts thinking “Ooh, yeah, I could just quickly build a cheeky Tzeentch daemons army, maybe add some Thousand sons allies…”

And then I stop myself, kneel down in front of my pile of shame, and flagellate myself with a sock full of unpainted minis until the urge subsides. You nearly got me this time guys. Nearly.

Since you ask, I play power level a lot. Mainly for small games with family – it’s easier and quicker for the kids to put a force together and we don’t have to worry about being too careful about points-efficiency etc.

There’s definitely a place for PL even though points are objectively superior as a balancing mechanic.

Hi! In the narative campaigns we’re running we all use power level and really haven’t looked back. They’re so much easier to use and encourage you to use all the cool upgrades and weapons. So when just playing for fun I think its definitely the way to go. If you’re trying to play competivily, or really like the min/maxing of making lists and deciding exactly where every point goes points are probably better suited to how you play though. One downside though is unit sizes. Power level only really wants you running certain numbers of models in each unit. If… Read more »

that intro had me laughing out loud xD As Tzeench player i’m quite unsure about the 6 save in melee I find Screamers should have get a better one as it’s the only CC option in the roaster – not a big fan of the Soul Grinder but will most likely have to take a DP

Did the unit size for bloodcrushers and flesh hounds change?

My wider gaming group, including core of a LGC, use power level for our general crusade games and specific crusade campaign. It works absolutely fine and is just different. If we play tempest of war or competitively we obviously use granular points, but power level is used weekly at the club successfully.

My templars like their warlord traits thank you, we like to make fun fighty characters and that helps us do it. 🙂

For my Big Crusade campaign I’m running we use power levels and requisition points. So yes that’s at least 8 people who use power level

I’ve been prepping the relaunch of my YT and in the build up I only play PL, and intend to keep it that way as much as possible. I find it makes army building so much quicker, which is better for bringing newbies into the fold. It also allows you a lot more freedom to just build units however you want, since there’s less overall nuance. While it’s nice GW have done a PL balance pass I’d prefer them doing it with the normal points rather than once per year. Most of the 1ppm changes don’t swap things into a… Read more »

I exclusively play power level. Best way to play the game if modeling and rolling dice with friends for fun are the objectives. I hate how point shaving and efficiency eats at all the cool but not great unit options you never take because of points. Power level just lets you build and play your unit with whatever options you want and its all the same PL. You don’t have to worry about building your unit with the cool stuff you like and then go to point it out and find yourself over points because you went ham on rule… Read more »

My play group uses power level! It’s quicker to make lists in pur crusade games and gives us a little more flexibility so we can run more of what we like. We do points outside of crusade though.

Man, *every* Chaos Daemon codex has been a lot different from the previous edition. Gut reaction I dislike the absence of the locus benefits. But as a primarily Slaanesh player I was quite dependent upon them whereas I think the other Locii’s you could do without – they were arguably lessor of importance. I’m not sure how much I’ll miss it. It was a nice idea to be able to have Turn 1 charges, but I frequently thought they got you into more trouble than not, so they were kind of a trap. Keepers having the inbuilt -1 To be… Read more »

Personally I find rules like Demon Saves, Malefic Weapons and the Khorne worlord trait signs of really bad desing. I am not saying they are strong or not, it all depends and I don’t really care right now, but to me they look like bad rules implemented as an answer to previous bad rules: starting 9th, everything got higher AP and damage, so after a while they gave invul and reduce damage to everyone, then to answer to that they gave mortal wounds and weapons able to ignore invulnerable saves and the latest step are weapons that ignore damage reduction,… Read more »

Interesting watch. My cousin wants to build Khorne daemons backed up by a Chaos Knight, and I’d say it looks like my Necrons will have their hands full. Imma need more Heavy Destroyers….

Sometimes we play PL. If we do, we just take options like gear and weapon load outs for free (unless they cost PL of course).

Fully agree with chef, we play a lot of crusade and have not even considered using PL. Only points getting balance updates alone is enough to make them the better choice

Is it me or does Disciples of Be’lakor just take too much away from the chaos marines? Rules as written they loose “Let the Galaxy Burn”

Now that basic Demons are all Ld6, Night Lords are the best Demon killers in the galaxy right?

Most airports are indeed designed by chaos cultists. Some are in fact fully operational portals to the Warp, which is what I tell myself when my bags end up on a different continent.

You keep telling us about this awesome bat rep – you big teases. Issues with the upload?

I wonder how much cheaper or expensive this makes demons.
