So…. i reaaaaaly!! love the podcast… but this one… well seems like you guys got your timeline wrong, because basically everything you discussed the fist 15 min. GW did in the Eldar Codex with the integrated Drukhari Datasheets…
But nevertheless, a nice podcast.

great chat!
here’s my bold and mostly unrelated prediction the “salamanders” part of that picture is less important than the “gravis” part of it

I’m a lot like you Lawrence, I would hope that it is an army thing that see’s the daemons be ‘playable’ rather than just a detachment, but maybe a detachment focuses on it. If they squatted the Chaos Daemon codex and rolled each god into the respective Legion CSM dex I don’t think I would be too disappoineted tbh if they did it well. For example; full playability like outlined above and ability to interact with army rule, detachments, relics and strategems. It’s worked well for AoS, there is no reason to think why it can’t work well again in… Read more »

Great chat, excited to see what happens with the four legion books.

In AoS, the Slaves to Darkness, Chaos Space Marines codex equivalent, have a detachment that includes Be’lakor and a mixed Daemon force. I wonder if the legion codexes have their respective Daemons in them, and a Daemon codex isn’t released, a detachment will be released that is part of the Chaos Space Marines codex that includes Be’lakor and mixed Daemons. Just a thought.

I’d imagine that the daemon summoning will be something like cult ambush, when the souls of the cult chaos marines enter the warp, they can reemerge as daemon units.

Cultists will be a kill team box, mark my words.

Excited but cautious. Speculation I’ve seen is EC don’t get cultists because they get 2 types of battleline cheap throw away marines. This plus WE not having actual cultistls, not jackals, is a potential sign that generic cultists will be removed from Tsons and DG. Helbrute being omitted is i think to make room for a sonic dread release next edition. Big tin foil hope is 11th edition box set will be Grey knights refresh vs daemons refresh. We’ve already seen new plaguebearer models for one of the spin off games and they look awesome so who knows. I just… Read more »

Pure speculation but with the possibility of salamanders being released does anybody else feel like there preparing for something… maybe along the lines of a space marine faction falling to chaos?! Something is in the works I tell ya!!

I don’t think there will be summoning rules. I think it might be tricky to balance, compared to army building with points, but freely choose daemons as regular units.
GW seems happy with their balancing mechanics, which basically is points adjustments. Balancing summoning tables?
Time will tell.

As a death guard player, I am very exited to see how they work the daemons on to the chaos codex’s.
On another note, any of you lovely lot attending the warhammer world anniversary event this year?

I think they’ve learned in 10th that balancing datasheets whether because all weapon choices are baked in or because they’re across multiple armies is difficult and it has led to some odd points increases and changes. The Aeldari Codex shows us this – they split out multiple datasheets (wraithknight with two sheets now, multiple weapons platforms, and the addition of set Drukhari datasheets for Ynnari). The same is happening with the EC book – specifc Daemon datasheets will be in the EC book so they can balance them, and amend their rules to key off of the EC rules (as… Read more »

Adding Daemons is awesome! Can’t wait to see how they mesh with the rest of the armies, and what detachments, strats, and enhancements will be available to the armies

That being said… is this GW’s way of just telling us we’re not getting anymore units for WE, TS, and EC..? “Sorry, no new marine units, or Daemon engines, but here’s some Daemon fodder to play with.” Because that would upset me. WE, TS, and EC need a wider range than what they’ve got

I will say, the thing that makes me think that deamons might not get a standalone release is simply them not being mentioned a s not currently being shown on the road map, you’d think with it being the “year” of chaos they had been featured before we got onto salamanders and such. Even chaos knights look like they’re on as well. I wonder if it’s simply something to do with Deamons just being hard for them to get right, and people plmostpynjisy divide them up into the specific factions anyway. Though I will remember fondly my army deep striking… Read more »

I’m primarily a Daemons player. Way I see it we got our base codex for free during Grotmas/Index, plus whatever detachments are in these upcoming book, Daemons may have more available detachments than marines by the end of this ride. Which is crazy to think about.
Great vid.

Interesting times for Chaos, could be brilliant or awful, will deoend on how much they integrate them, will juggerlirds be able to lead bloidcrushers for example.

Including the daemons will be good if they tie in with whatever our army rules are. You don’t currently take daemons in Thousand Sons coz that’s points not contributing Cabal Points.

But if they do support them properly in the codex, simply being able to take cheap(ish) deepstriking units offers something that basically don’t exist in the current “god cult” Legions.

Great, topic thanks TT, exciting prospect.

As a technical suggestion/request – please can Freeview podcasts also be put out using the TT members player (or have a link to that version) so that we can listen to the podcast with our devices locked?
