Played this Detachment today and can confirm:

A Sagataur exploded in fear of running away from my Black Knights. Mwahahahahah!

Well based on the other detachments and the massive lack of balance seems my beloved DAs are only fit for their display case. Won’t be playing them again.

Can’t wait to try a strormraven gunship, unrestricted by terrain, dropping deathwing knights and a redemptor. blast with the gunship and supercharged redemptor and/or Charge the gunship to pin, then follow with the knights in my opponents turn with 2 to the charge. Nasty!

Hey James Big fan dude. Licence that you play the Ravenwing. Don’t know if the model is still in the TT collection. Yhe Custom Sammael on Sableclaw. I made and sent that one for Lawrence when it was playable If I’m not mistaken. The Strat “Strength in Unity” Yes you target your own Dark Angels unit. However. It seems that the effects then pass the thd attacking enemy unit. So now it’s the enemy unit that is rebuffed and not the ravenwing or DW that are buffed. So in theory. If a RW & DW unit is in engagement. Then… Read more »

Think the enhancements look nice and a couple of the strats. But the detachment rule and some of the strats have too much hoop jumping. Doesn’t seem worth giving up the advantages of Gladius.

Love the concept… just wish it didn’t feel like they’re going to update the ravenwing models next edition. Don’t have many right now and don’t really want to add models to my pile of shame that likely by the time I get to them, they’ll be legended or replaced…

I wish Azrael didnt conspire with Abbadon… (sigh) RIP Epimethius.

Although I cant bring myself to love them in lore, I do appreciate the models/and the new detachment. Pretty awesome imo!

Speed of the Raven!

Really want to see James’ Black Knights to be able to do something other then dying a horrible overcharged plasma induced death now.

(Sorry, not a DA player. But I thought this would go here)

I’m really keen to try this one out, I love running a whole mix of Dark Angel units and love the fact I can get some play/counter play out of these rules. Based on a list I tested recently I quite like the idea of dropping 5 DW Knights with a Chaplain and the additional OC enhancement for a little punch up and 12OC holding a mid-field objective. Some silly combos to be had in this detachment 😀

Hoo boy this calendar is a mixed bag and it’s only day two.

Edit: second look, there’s some shenanigans to be done here, I’d need to test it. Unsure of any of this would be worth losing gladius nonsense but I’ll try it.
